  1. I'm with Splat, Mavic 819's are not light, but I've got a set on my Prophet and have found them to be bomb proof. I've heat tested one, First time i used my tow bar carrier I melted the tyre off the rim (who thought exhaust fumes were that hot) and a month late hit a concrete block at about 50k, burped the tyre flat, but still runs true and seals a treat.
  2. There is a new Breakfast Cereal out called Future Life. It contains Moducare- good imune booster + it is low GI and is suitable for diabetics. in a green satchet/packet. Mixes with water and tastes pretty good.
  3. A big bottle of Stans does 8 tyres for me, and I would never use anything else. Joe's gets sticky and if you take a tyre off, the sidewalls stick together and are therefore much harder to re-seat.
  4. I Think JB is on the money, Wheelchair wheels will probably set you back a fraction of a lefty wheel. and the spline/shaft on a lefty is not going to be that easy to fabricate.
  5. Yes Dawie, thats kinda what I was expecting Hagar Trans am xo is the best value arround, even if they only last a year.
  6. Damn, was expecting a totaully inapropriate joke saddle that played on the fact that lance lost the jules.
  7. I'm with Mathem, The industial/stolen prototype look is so schweeeeeeeet

  10. Will we be allowed on the courses on Monday? Just not sure if its worth taking a bike up and paying an extra nights accomodation.
  11. Just give her a good service before hand. What is your weight, I would sujest getting some high volume tyres, (2.2 or bigger and running tubeless at 2 bar or lower, to give you some comfort. If you are > 85 kgs ignore all the best and spend the money on mind altering drugs, you'll need them
  12. Could those of you with extensive lists of spares and tools please post your race numbers, so that I know who to flag down if anything goes wrong with me/my bike. Love bruce (Team slow children at play)
  13. Hi all, 2 questions for the knowledgable. 1) I have an XTR crank (M970) will other (read cheaper) 4 bolt chain rings fit on it? 2) I'm looking to buy road tubbies on line, but most tubbies seem to come in 27' and 28' which do I need for a cosmic carbone? Thanks Bruce
  14. Anyone remember "IrishJ9" in the old Lance is on drugs and Ulrich is to fat days
  15. Hell, I thought you were looking to swap Got all excited. Was wondering what I could trade my wife for
  16. Change your diet a little. For a real detox, ou should go on a brown rice diet for a few days, and then add root vegetables for a week. Then statrt introducing some white meat/fish. It'll sort out your constitution too. big curved floaters guaranteed
  17. Vredestien Killer Bees, 2.2 on the back 2.4 on the front You'll free wheel up hill
  18. 2 SIZES, ABILITY TO BUY BULK MIXED FLAVOUR PROMO PACKS IN THE SHORT TERM POSSIBLY ADD A SMALL SQUEEZE BOTTLE +- 100ML (LESS LITTER AND ABILITY TO CONTROL DOSE SIZE
  19. Sorry, nothing to add, But did not want to be the only hubber who didn't contribute to this epic
  20. If you have the same top and bottom ratio's with fewer overall gears, you are going to end up with bigger gaps between gears. I for one like that each shift is only a small difference, so I gan get an exact gear for spead and available power. I very rearely get chain suck, a well maintained correctly lubed drive chain keeps most of that at bay. I'm a lot more likly to put a tripple on my road bike than I am to put a double on my MTB.
  21. The river section of the Cumberland Clasic. Just out side PMB, goes on for ages
  22. On tyre choice, take the fastest rolling XC tyres you have. If it rains, you are walking anyway. Seriuosly I raced both Sani and Non stop sani with a 2.4 Vredestine killer bee on the front and a Geax mezcal 2.2 on the back (The other friederstien would not fit into my frame its so big.) run at 2 bar the low rolling resistance is the bomb. I did however cary a set of Nevegals in the balck box along with my pillow and caby ruby. and I checked the weather each evening to make sure.
  23. One more KZN Hubber is in - me
  24. I really think we need to expand the topic a bit. XC - Cannondale Scalpel Marathon - Giant anthem Free ride - Cannondale Prophet with the lefty max Downhill - Hand made by MOREWOOD - SA rules
  25. Nite Rider Minewt X2 LED Used mine on Non stop Sani2C. alternating between dim and bright I had light for the full 6 hours of dark, and on decents strangers were calling me to the fron to light the way. I am over the moon with this light and it is compact and lightweight Try Chainreaction
