  1. Maybe the OP didn't ask for a REAL - DOGMA? Maybe he expected a fire pool, and only later realized he was duped when he came back from overseas and he saw he actually got a swimming pool.
  2. Read all the posts. No conjecture here. All my points are straight from his posts. Bought two bikes, wanted to support LBS, didn't ask about price, etc. , it was his 50th bday, he came back from Overseas, makes multiple references about unbranded frames... Laa dee daaa cry me a river. Read all the posts before you label me a conjecturist and/or a flame'st... haha I put it to you
  3. Something gives me the feeling there is another side and/or additional or undisclosed aspects to this story. Amazingly, these types of Rants are so often started by new virgin OP accounts. Someone who had a Pina for 10+ years, buys a DOGMA, pays for TWO in a matter of months, first activity on thehub is a rant about how he got screwed. Secondly, the OP keeps on about "wide spread frame failures" of un-branded bikes. Which really has nothing to do with the fact that the bike is a fake. The emphasis on this aspect just makes me wonder what the the real story is.... The Op seems to act totally naive on one aspect, but on the other hand claims to have knowledge of mass failure of un branded frames? Also, the watches analogy makes no sense, because nothing gets more knocked off than a Rolex, and I'm certainly not going to shop for a Rolex at my friendly grocer. No matter how much I want to support my "local" grocer. This Op is the savior of every LBS. Not wanting to heckle pricing.... Really now? And somehow, some 50 y.o international jet setter with enough liquid cash monies for 2x Dogmas at " Retail " gets ripped off at this scale just smells funny to ME?
  4. You do know that the 3 has long since been replaced by 3+, with better image quality, huge battery improvements and better sound? Just saying because lots of people don't know this.
  5. Oh... Don't try to force a new BB into the frame, you will mess up the BB. Most good shops will have a tapping and facing tool.
  6. Don't stress about it, just take it to a lbs with a tapping tool to clean it up nicely.
  7. fugly. hope they brake better than they look?
  8. By the way, you can convert that to a 1x11 by using this: http://northshorebillet.com/shop/1x11-spiders/
  9. No, it's not re-branded. The arms are the same shape, and very similar. Very nice actually. The spider and rings seem to be a bit "cheaper". Still, a very nice crankset, but not "X0".
  10. it's because your dik and lazy
  11. Something fishy with this story. What frame is that, most GT's use external headset. Also, what headset is that? I know the guys from MSC stock the crane creek headsets, which mostly use a split race that doesn't require much force... Just saying... but I can't believe they would have dunnit....
  12. Drill won't work, because you don't get the entire bolt out. It takes longer and it's not worth the work. Grinder, new slot, screwdriver. And grease before is never a sure thing, because some times you have a damaged bolt head from wear, other times you may have rocks or gunk in the bolt head.....
  13. I usually just take a small angle grinder with small metal disc, and cut a slot in the bolt, and then use a screwdriver. It's quick... just be careful not to slip and cut a digit off, of worse go into your shoe. Don't waste your time with a drill, it wont work.
  14. Hope you enjoy your new bike. Both seem to be good choices for the budget you are aiming at. Also remember you will have to buy some pedals/shoes, and a helmet if you don't have one, so it adds up quickly. Another good bike in this segment will be the Fuji Nevada 1.0, check out Solomons for a deal. It has 10 speed Shimano Deore with an XT rear der.
  15. Can't beat XT & IceTech for price, power, simplicity, ease of setup, bleeding and reliability. IceTech rotors are the best, they run straight, won't warp and give you crap with rubbing and alignment. Best overall package. Only R1's can be considered and "alternative", not even an "upgrade". Just something different in the same class. XTR has absolutely no advantage over vanilla XT. Because you can spend the change on another component upgrade...
  16. shot for the wb... lol@power tools...., actually you need parktool's, you need this blade: http://www.parktool.com/product/carbon-saw-blade-csb-1
  17. Don't use a pipe cutter, use a carbon saw blade.
  18. Very nice!
  19. Yes, indeed. But my mother says it's bad manners to tell other people to change their forks...
  20. Awesome bike G!!!!, I really dig it. If you held a gun to my head and forced me to find anything I would change, it would only be the bars.... with something sweet like this..... http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/za/en/easton-haven-carbon-riser-bar/rp-prod69061 And maybe a dropper post... otherwise it's perfect, love the colour.
  21. Considering that black is already a prominent feature of the colour scheme/design (in my opinion), then I think the black actually suits the bike better than the original green... Also, considering that you will most likely put a black chain guard/protector on the drive side, then I really don't see the the bit of green sticking out on the non-drive side as a primary part of the overall colour scheme. Especially not when the entire bike is assembled with black rims and black tires, etc... etc... It's just my opinion, and it doesn't mean you have to settle for it.
  22. Okay, so I understand the general response tone and message to be "bad idea, we are going to get ripped off..., you are going to be a crook, stuff you, etc". If someone is offering a finance service, and someone wants to make use of it, and the person is credit worthy, and willing to pay the interest {whatever it may be} then I don't see a problem here. Because if it's too expensive, then they won't get customers.... If they issue credit to someone who cant afford it, then they won't get paid. And it will be very difficult for them to recover their capital If they allow you to negotiate the price and bike yourself, and they just bolt on finance at the end, then there should be no risk of the bike shop inflating the product price and selling you a 1k bike for 10k, etc. Don't overcomplicate it. If the interest rate should be in line with credit card rates, because if you don't pay they can't really recover anything from you... You can't try and save people from making bad credit decisions, personally I think they (credit provider) have more risk and complexity on their end... Good luck Mr Hope, I think if you keep the term short (6, 12 max 18 months) and the rates keen then you just might pull it off. (And it would be *** funny if you start seeing okes in races wearing advertising "You can own this new bike for R699 per month if you race, train and transport this bike with 500 cheap advertising stickers on display, SMS this number, SMS's cost 10 RANDS....)
  23. Congratulations on your purchase... wish you many happy km's... In terms of the original post, in my own personal experience I find most "buyers" also trade HARD.... it's just as insulting and irritating. I've sold plenty bikes on here, even almost had two okes fist fighting over one of my bikes in my driveway.. But to be honest, selling/buying on thehub is usually a pleasant experience, I've met many people and made many friends. I guess the best way to sum it up is "hate the game, not the player"....
  24. If it's built properly, with a Reverb dropper and a Fox Forks you will struggle to get it below 12.
