    Ride for Sight

Ta! Awesome ride. Fantastic route, good roads and marhalling. Bike marshals were brilliant (as usual) and support from Germiston metro good to see. Great weather with a mild wind. Good racing (apart from Graeme Cronje giving us a snot klap in the tandems). A lekker morning in the saddle...
  2. There was a smallish turnout this morning in the rain - as many marshals as members, but the Cycle Lab club ride still went ahead!
  3. Being a Gautenger, I wish PPA would take over up here... Some people may complain about them (some people will complain about anything), but it appears they do a much better job than CGC.
  4. You sound bitter. The "legal action" you mention was tossed out, with the Lab being only one of about 20 respondents...
  5. I suppose you're p.o.'d because the best your club could do was JZ and Julius? BTW, I expect Cycle Lab's new safety campaign coincides with her ideals...
  6. My g/f reckons it's the opposite...
  7. Immature ar$eholes...
  8. I would much rather do 105 than 97 on this route, so I was quite happy. Also, you should learn the route and race from there - don't watch the clock! ;-)
  9. +1 to you. Respect.
  10. Jurie Krige. And he IS an engine!!!
  11. Hope you didn't sprint them at the finish ;-)
  12. Works for me with Mozilla on Linux...
  13. Keep it up and one day it'll penetrate their thick, moronic skulls...
  14. There will be. Remmeber the North Shore stuff and the flip flop bridges. There's an idiot born every day that's going to hurt himself on that stuff...

    Fast One

Brilliantly organised. Parking no problem, good route on quiet roads. The marshalling and bike marshals did a fantastic job. Route marking good. You could see it was DA municipality since the potholes had been fixed. The road surface was stunning. Yep - I was impressed!
  16. Why not just pitch up and join them? Most groups in this area allow anyone to join..
  17. Sharp! +1!
  18. +1 - especially the last sentence...
  19. I managed the black route Rollercoaster on my cyclocross bike. I s**t myself doing it, though! More enjoyable on an MTB.
  20. Bad news to start the year. Condolences to family and friends...
  21. Just cut an old tyre lengthwise and wrap it tightly around. Finish off with insulation tape...
  22. I don't go to the races for the lucky draws...
  23. If you want a good days riding over 175kms, then the answer is a simple 'yes'. This is a brilliant ride, well organised with the full support of local government and (in the past) with a reasonable entry fee.
  24. I started riding at 39 and ride a 26" hardtail. I don't like the feel of a dual susser (yes - I have ridden them). So this is as much nonsense as the post to which you are replying. My opinion: try both and see which you prefer. The duals are plusher, but the hardtails harder (if that makes sense!) and more responsive, also cheaper and slightly easier to maintain. I prefer a bike I can "feel". A dual susser to me feels like a bouncy Honda Goldwing, whereas I prefer my Ducati. Both have their purposes and you need to decide for yourself. Ditto for the 26er vs 29er argument...
