Last ride was 2 weeks or so before CTCT so took quite a bit of effort, but the view makes it all worthwhile.

Suspect it was just the sizing that's being referred to. The Rapide is intended for 35mm bars not the more common 31.8mm. Possibly corrected with a shim.

I miss Howzit Sports for this sort of work. As CrisF says, try Rapid. Other names that come to mind: Vye; Ciovita; Anatomic; Panda. Some may of course say that 8 years is a fantastic innings and time to let them go ...

1.65 would suggest that you should be on a XS/S, certainly not a L. Shooting from the hip: S has a TT of 53cm + 9cm = 62cm. L has a TT of 58cm ... so 4cm stem for equivalent. This ignores other frame differences impacting fit.

Agreed - we all make mistakes. Another reason to drive/ride defensively and also anticipate the mistakes others may make where possible. (as it appears the bus driver may have been doing) Glad you're telling the story yourself. 🙂

Definitely do this. I remember my helmet looking perfectly fine on the outside after a crash, but looking inside revealed multiple cracks.

500 and 705 are the original workhorse models. They did everything required and a bit more. Managed to get the battery on my 705 replaced which gave it a new lease on life ... so much so that the 130 is still sealed in its box. 🙈

While I often ride in that direction, my preference for start area is a bit further south. (Rondebosch/Claremont)
