  1. You so right! this is sooooo funny. bigben playing style guru?and failing miserably. I can only aspire to Pantani's (where is the man when you need him ...) greatness sir .......
  2. Does this make any sense to y'all? Saw it at Cyclingnews.com ......... "If we assume two identical riders and bikes with the only variable being crank length and also measure power at the rear wheel, then the same amount of power will be produced to carry an identical bike and rider up a hill. However the rider with the shorter crank will have a higher metabolic cost because the shorter crank length is a lesser multiplier of the work he performs. His 'twin' has a longer crank length that is a greater multiplier of the work the rider performs, which in turn means a lower metabolic cost, all other things being equal. That example can't be extrapolated to suggest that longer is always better. There is a cost in turning a longer crank that my explanation above doesn't consider. Shear forces on the knee increase because the knee is flexed more at the top of the pedal stroke and the size of the 'dead spot' in the pedal stroke increases (not in degrees of arc, but in length). So a longer crank usually makes life easier at low to moderate cadences and life harder at high cadences particularly when high cadence is paired with high output. Individual differences in function, proportion and type of riding that the rider prioritises means there is no clear cut 'rule' to determine optimum crank length."
  3. BigBen' date=' I will still ride you off with my compact cranks!![/quote'] How do you know?
  4. You were nearly off my Christmas present list . I'll be watching the post .......
  5. If Lil Ben says they are then yes the Captains are ace! Don't know about weight, he's more concerned with performance/puncture resistance....... He runs them on Cane Creek tubeless wheels with Joe's (the 2Bliss ones!).
  6. Look guys there are a few things that just say amateur/girl to me and they are as follows ranked in importance:- 1) Compact or triple chainring on a roadbike (unless you're riding the Etape ....) 2) Camelback on a roadbike or on an MTB for a 2 hour or less ride ...... 3) MTB shoes on a roadbike (where you gonna get off and walk huh?) 4) Bar ends on a riser bar (sorry HR but it just looks dumb!) And no I am not reading any technical discussions of why any of these are 'ok' ........
  7. TitusTi - Lil Ben also reckons they not at all like the Crossmarks ....
  8. Lil' Ben says they are the dogs you know what's ......... and he has ridden Crossmarks for a long time. Gave me hell the weekend cause he had to ride my training bike with the 'super duper' Merida Race tyres on .......... said they were not the dogs you know whats ........ rather the dogs ar$e .......
