  1. I occasionally hear people say no they not riding because they have issues or are under stress, that's the time I make even more sure I do ride! I find it helps ... Getting enough riding in to keep me happy despite the above and the rain 😎

  3. DM me an e-mail address let me see what I can do
  4. Duration is insignificant. Consistency, however, is
  5. I've revisited my 2022 goals (life goals even) I WANNA BE LIKE COPPERHEAD!
  6. Just saw this on a local group ... Dear joberg2c rider We hope you and your families and friends have a had a good holiday. After 11 years of awesome adventures, joberg2c as you know it will come to an end after the 2022 event, 22 April to 30 April. There are numerous smaller reasons for this decision notwithstanding the impact that Covid has had on the event, but the main reason is the life changes amongst the organisers, Gary, Glen and Wappo. Farmer Glen will continue to farm, to do sani2c and most importantly he is about to become a grandad and he wants more time at home. Farmer Gary will continue his fine form as a grandad, farmer and he will continue to work with his family on Berg and Bush and Oxpecker. Wappo will be starting a new event in the Free State and Berg to support the villages that depend on the funds from joberg2c, and to keep the vibe alive. Thanks to your support, joberg2c became an iconic mountain biking ride showcasing the very best of communities from city to sea. We have put over R35 Million back into these communities and we are immensely proud of this, thanks to the great support from adventurous people like you who are prepared to go the extra mile to get the most out of life.
  7. I had that yesterday, I logged out completely then logged in again and it was fine ... was logged in when I was in the main page and classifieds but the minute I went to forums I was logged out.
  8. There more I read here and hear from others the more thankful I am that I came off so lightly ... strongs guys!
  9. There is no audax at that time of the year anyway, I guess I was just saying that it would be possible to do it in one day ....
  10. Pretty much the same but I'd have to think long and hard to put myself through that again ....
  11. Despite the rain most of the night the gents were determined to go ahead with their planned ride Alberhoughton to Paris (FS) this morning. I joined them till 60k's then turned back on my own, had some other priorities today. Still turned out a cracker ride!
  12. Very nice, you're finally one of the 'cool kids' 😎 Is that your wife's bike in the background?
  13. Looking neat!
  14. That is amazing, my late father in law could weld like that. Pity I never took any photos of the many welds he did on my motocross bikes in my racing days ... and for many of my mates at the time. He described my welding attempts as 'voeltjie ***' 🙄
  15. I want to comment on the lengths that 'weekend worriers' go to in their training but it's best left unsaid
  16. And I need to take you more seriously 🙄
  17. Amen brother! The @Gnarly secret to weight loss 😎
  18. I've mentioned it before but I spend quite a bit of time (almost exclusively on my own) out on the roads and trails around Alberhoughton, Jobeg south, Meyerton etc. and I certainly don't feel like 'they' are out to get me on every ride. I do try to be as safe as possible and am pretty chilled so don't really get aggravated easily, that probably helps ... I remember a few years ago one of our own, some may remember R2D2, had a run in with some taxis on the rand water board road that were part of a funeral procession. It went pretty badly for him! Again you get those type of people amongst just about any demographic you can think of, drivers, cyclists, bakers, accountants and even people of the cloth (had a small run in with one once 😂) amongst many others. They are also generally like that in all walks of their lives not just towards cyclists as an example ... the same ones you see shouting at bank tellers, supermarket cashiers and anyone else that upsets them. Live and let live, that's my motto 😎
  19. My initial thoughts were why are people so desperate to do it quicker or do way more than 'necessary' but since its been around for a while I'm pretty impressed by what innovative challenges people have set for themselves ... It's become way more than just the festive '500' for many and that's cool and takes nothing away from those for whom just managing the 500 is tough because of other responsibilities or their fitness level
  20. 'The wind doesn't blow' 🤡🤡🤡
  21. Printed this for my daughter-in-law's Forerunner 55 she got for Christmas One picture is with and the other without flash, the only reason the colours look so different 🙄
  22. I tested positive and had only a very sore throat with the accompanying rough voice ... on advice from my doctor I isolated and rested for 10 days (I actually felt fine within 3 or 4 days). After that I did easy short rides for 3 days and then back to normal riding including completing the Festive 500 shortly thereafter. As I mentioned my GP who knows me very well followed up and advised me during that time.
  23. He lives, happy new year Captain!
  24. That's enough ....
  25. No it's not, its the size of the stantions in mm's
