I wonder if that is primarily because of how steep the climbs are or if there are other factors... Surely aerodynamics can't be such a big thing on an XCO course?

The only question is now whether to paint it or not .... I'm leaning towards leaving it as it is

Progress being made ... this is a collaboration with Grumpy from the The Workshop at Thaba trails. He has provided most of the 'bits' ... need to sort out the hub on the rear wheel, current one takes a screw on cluster but no way to get the chain line correct if I use a BMX type screw on freewheel so I'll have strip the wheel and build it with a normal hub. Now has a 27.5x2.8 rear tyre, need to still get the 29x2.4 front to fit

And I though I'd done some dodgy wheel builds ????

Not sure where I'm going with this 'mullet' thing yet ... currently 27.5x2.4 rear and 29x2.25 front I have a 27.5x3.0 to try and a mate is dropping off a 29x2.4 later, will see if the 3.0 first in the rear, I'll fit the 2.4 front anyway Also has a derailleur hanger issue so probably SS

I must be honest it's no secret that I am here for the cycling related topics with just a passing interest in the off topic ones, I certainly won't miss the 'doomsday prepper' type threads ???? I can understand for some they'd have no reason to be here anymore but I certainly won't miss them ???? As an aside not being able to use Tapatalk initially irritated me a bit but I've gotten used to the mobile site and happy enough with it. Uploading pictures is a damn sight better that's for sure!

I'm not sure how steep the hills are around there but here round Joburg I manage ok with a 42x20 ... look you not gonna be doing 30k average speeds but you should get up the hills
