  1. Any one ever had a lever incident? No idea how this happend.. and luckily its not me http://spokemagazine.com/files/2010/04/hope-hand-hospital.jpg
  2. I have solid steel cluster, moer heavy, but almost not a sign of wear. Aluminium will wear out quicker, but much lighter. BTW, Think I have a Sram cluster with my XT derailleur, which can also be an option
  3. Nuutste clown helmet, of isit 'n call of duty vibe, haha
  4. Any chance it could be trail builders, trying to keep riders off newly built track, which needs to settle? But the positioning of logs makes it sound more like bike jackers or grumpy hikers
  5. Will net gaan ry, maar ongelukkig float bike nie in die kaapse reen
  6. Good advice, just remember never brake in Berms, it breaks them. Edit: i repeat.. Never never never brake in berms please, some has to fix it and that someone is usually not the rider
  7. No wonder im crapping bricks, Im riding 34-16... Did my first 30Km race SS yesterday,
  8. Not very healthy... and very far away from water, think almost just as bad as normal fizzy drinks, just because its see-thru doesn't mean its water.
  9. I sleep like a rock, drink round 10-15 cups a day... but I get a headache in the morning if I don't wake up before 10 to get my coffee fix.. I am a student though, which means no worries to keep me awake:)
  10. Seems Im also going to have a go there this weekend. Haven't done a MTB race in 10years,since then people started riding big wheels. Just need to know, is having a beer while pushing up a hill frowned upon, like to carbo load in the race?
  11. sell the road bike.... Longer life expectancy on, with our roads. a 29'er is like being a Roadie on dirt
  12. The bike shop guy sounded pretty reasonable, although bit over priced, not necessary for rant. If you are on good terms with your LBS, they probably would've fixed it up for free... Edit: Quicklinks are crap. I always carry chain breaker
  13. Rode one of these in primary school (After my steel frame Rocky V), was hitting the Old Eden DH tracks every day after school, and only had to replace the front fork 6 times with the rims.... which showed commitment, haha think bought it for a wopping R250 Id say go as cheap as possible and only look for decent bike, once he'she decides she enjoys Mtb'ing. No use forcing kids into your own hobby and sitting with expensive Niche market bike which cannot sell.
  14. +1 I ride a small, where I should be riding a Med/large (According to smart people). But I love small mountain bikes, a lot more agile and I can still go to the down an do some street riding and Jumping.
  15. Sorry to hear, but that is what happens in Stellenbosch, can never take your eyes off your bike! Victim to 4 bike thefts myself over the years. Thus my bike only goes to mountain and back
  16. Nice, Spike Spanks are awesome rims! Had my 35mm ones now for 2 years, not even a hint of a buckle, after many rough landings
  17. Horizontal dropouts with tugs, easier you cannot get. The disc also doesn't move any distance. Had mine for almost a year and still no adjustments necessary. I think Horizontal are best SS option. QR Tugs are like R150 so whats the problem
  18. Bike I would really like. Has a very different look to it. If I ever upgrade/get new bike it will be this or a Nicolai http://cdn1.coresites.mpora.com/dirt_new/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/chrismondraker.jpg http://p.vitalmtb.com/photos/users/20153/setup_checks/19202/photos/2945/s780_IMG_20121130_144745.jpg?1354293201 http://p.vitalmtb.com/photos/users/2/photos/49308/s780_mondrakergallery.jpg?1360262057
  19. For R5000 you can get awesome second hand deals, I prefer second hand to new, but being a newbie, it might not be the best option.
  20. I see that, and I raise you a Jeff lenofsky with lycra, clipps and 29'er... Lopes has been known to ride SPD's PS: May look like 26'er, byt Jeff is over 2m, making bike look small.
  21. I suggest these.. not to over the top and most "Flatsters" will tolerate http://bikereviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/five-ten-freerider-zebra-shoes.jpg
  22. Jeans and T-shirts allowed? Edit: When I wear jeans (Levi) I know I hit jumps/drops better
  23. Question is when are we going to get threads like this: Where did the"Where did the "I wish I was as good as the flat pedallers" thread go?" thread go?
