  1. sounds like you have different generations of XT. A bit like both having 3-series BMW's... They should be the same, but if you have the old shape and the fiance the new, they will be very different. Have a Google about XT 770 and XT 760 And then there are a couple of different flavours in each also...

    Saris Bones

Only time they will scratch is if you don't clean the feet before you put it on and there's grit in the rubber.
  3. Sounds like you are off to the SabieX in December?
  4. And that place is nestled on the banks of the Tugela, just shy of Winterton and is called Emseni camp. The Berg and Bush is easily one of the best MTB events on the calendar, with just the right mix of hard and easy, technical and simple, up and down (debatable on the up part...). This complemented by a race village focussed entirely on making the experience effortless off the bike and you have MTB heaven on your hands. The first day presented a number of highlights. First there is the lovely ride throught the Spioenkop reserver where Rhino was on for our viewing pleasure. Then, a speedboat ride across the dam facilitated by the really friendly farmers of the area. Then the highlight of the day, the climb up Spioenkop which averages out at a gradient of about 18% and peaks at just over 20%!! The reward? A fantastic waterpoint right on the peak, between the markers and memorials of the Battle of Spioenkop! (Not to mention the massage therapists dressed as French nurses...). And then, miles and miles of some of the best singletrack you could wish for back to the river and eventually the camp. One would think that a day like that would be hard to follow, but apparently not around here. Day 2 was a singletrack tour de force with trail built for one reason only, and that is to flow like water. Wow! One berm leading to another in a seemingly neverending series of delights! Oh, and there is also the zipline across the river for those who care to wait for it. In all, the last time I had this much fun was on the Sani2C Adventure, and that's saying a lot as that was voted the best race in the country. In my opinion? If they keep this race at the current size, farmer Glen has some serious competition!
  5. Plenty. Everything from small bits like brake pads and hoses in batches, to big stuff like suspension forks. Always a pleasure to deal with them. and there's nothing lika a little gift waiting for you when you get home!e
  6. About 10 years ago I did a very similar installation to that on my Ford Bantam. The Armadillo is really money WELL spent. Used to sleep under it back in the day too!
  7. Have never kissed your sister, so not sure about the comparison, but there other great races out there. That said, this one has got rave reviews from everyone I have spoken to...
  8. I think you mean flour...
  9. Just like with hooters, whistles and incessant whoop-whooping, one may want to be a tad circumspect in using this device around others...
  10. a luddite, every thread needs one. pretty much the only part of your "3 no-no's" that hasn't YET been disproved is the bigger wheels...
  11. My Zula is also 11kg or thereabouts - SRAM X.0 and Shimano XTR mix, Fox F32 RLC. I added the Zula to my stable ( ) and haven't ridden my Scott Genius Ltd since! Don't know the Anthem, but I can safely say the Zula won't disappoint.. I'm quite surprised by the comment on mud clearance, certainly haven't had that experience at all!

  16. I've never met a cyclist who didn't think he was fat and hideous and slow... or is that a girlfriend?

  19. Be careful of using the Garmin version of the calorie calculation. Experience and comparison have shown me that it is about as accurate as a plastic compass. I see on the web a couple of other folks have found the same: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?t=10157 http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/edge-705-gps-calorie-counter-accuracy http://www.bikeforums.net/archive/index.php/t-450766.html
