  1. Agreed fully. That integrated stem system was always a funny one for me. It looked good, but tbh only allowing a min 90mm length stem was a bit ridiculous. Now with the 1.5" system you've got a lot more options. Also - longer! Guess what we've been saying about longer bike & shorter stem isn't just a fad. Wow. Who woulda guessed, eh? Even Cannondale accepting that it's the way forwards.
  2. There was, but delays with cutting by the contractors have put us on the back foot for the moment. We have a plan B, which has been accepted by the other parties (horsies etc) and is just waiting for pen to be put to paper. Deon knows a shedload more than I about this, so I'll leave him to comment on the latest developments.
  3. Just had a 3 hour ride in welvanpas. Average of 4bpm lower than "vigorous" but do I care? Not one zot. I had an awesome ride with a lekker bunch of people. Took it really slow and had a few lazy stops and trailside mishaps (2 punctures for one person) but all in all a grand day. So my 300 points for the ride is imo a sideshow. Means I'll only NEED to do one session in gym for min 30 minutes. If I do another ride, I'll be well above the required points
  4. CX = cyclocross So that cyclocross tyre isn't suitable for the high pressure tubeless setups that they run in cyclocross.
  5. If you're going for guides, no need to get the ultimate. RS & RSC are brilliant all by themselves. Just a leeeeetle heavier is all.
  6. If you say so... Bent vs straight seat tube Totally different top and down tube profiles But I suppose they are both triangular
  7. Disco 80% is my actual 75%. Easy for me too. And yes, it's supposed to be a challenge. Otherwise it'd be pointless
  8. They also get a FRC (free Ride Casing) which is quite a bit tougher than the normal XC casing which is frankly like tissue paper. FRC is just under Snakeskin ito toughness. Still rate Schwalbe's Super Gravity casing. Yeah, it's a 200g penalty per tyre, but man oh man are those sidewalls TOUGH,
  9. Ja, acually I dunno. Even the Di2 would only be an extra 10k over normal XTR. Hmm. Strange. Carbon link, maybe? Stretching now. Lefty Wheelset is $,2700 excl CK hub. Add another $600 for that. So $3,300. Nope. Doesn't add up. Rather get the frame and spec your own parts.
  10. As opposed to taking 30 min out and doing a relatively lightweight workout 4 times a week, when the goal is 1,200 points? Nah, do me a favour. Those with the watch will be able to record the HR for cardio efforts (the optical HR falls short when weights / squash / intense cardio - like bootcamp - is being recorded) so for those who have got the watch and sign in to gym, they'll actually get the points for the workout as opposed to just signing in. Assuming they actually work out, that is... And let's get serious now. How difficult is it actually to hit 80% for 30 mins? I'm NOT talking about those who are under doc's orders to keep it low, now. That's an outlier.
  11. Just got my requisite 400 points. 600 points for a 2 hour effort at avg 158bpm. Including a 10 minute rest at the top of the trail. Up till then it was avg 164bpm. Awesome.
  12. The gym policy is very straightforward, and has only recently been changed again. Essentially you get 75% off the ticket price for a single gym membership, and depending on your weekly goals, that is increased to 100% as long as you go more than 36 times in a rolling year. If it's changed to a different system entirely, they'll do like they did for the original gym membership and keep it running for existing members, but close it for new joiners.
  13. nope. It's softer than a 6 month old's poop. Super easy to cut or poke a hole in... I know from personal experience, unfortunately.
  14. Mate of mine is getting into rare investment-grade whiskeys. Yes, there is such a thing. He's started his collection with a bottle from the Hanyu Ichiro "Card" whiskey collection... http://static.robbreport.com/sites/default/files/images/articles/2015Aug/1609331//hanyo-ichiros-card-series-japanese-whiskey-04.jpg
  15. They're talking to TomTom for a direct link a la Garmin Connect. And tbh I reckon the other guys will come to the party with verifiability as well. But tbh dude - the points shoudl be a by-product of the activity - not the cause thereof.
