Same problem here in Nz, can't watch any replays at the moment on Redbull tv..loads of stuff on YouTube also for the other races/category's but nothing on the 2 main races. Anybody have a link we can use? Probably have to wait a couple of days..you guys watch on DSTV ? For some reason this event is georestricted on redbull TV (it usually isn't for UCI events ????) This is so frustrating, nothing works online in this country, probably because of DSTV... I can't pay to watch F1 on their website either because of georestrictions... thank **** at least motoGP still works...
Had a good convo at breakfast this morning with someone over his result and knew this would be a question for the day.
But, if you look at his calendar there was no racing in May so he could recoup and build into Tour and then recover into Vuelta. You can say what you want about him being clean, not clean this or that but Alejandro is an incredible bike racer. He won lots in a very dirty era and he is winning in a much much cleaner era. He can read a bike race better than almost anyone I have seen, Pogacer is the person who can do that behind him.
Just cause he is 39 it does raise a eyebrow but he is part of that 1%, many others don't race to his age, they retire and go away. He is racing.
The level at this Vuelta is high, I have analyzed data every night post stage and drawn up reports. When you stand roadside or in the follow car you see how hard this is.
I dont understand why sprinters come here.
Interested to hear your views on the age thing..purely from a performance perspective. Is this really such a big issue? Do we really understand how much of this is mental and how much physical?
Most riders probably loose the mental battle long before they do the physical one..cycling is a hard sport and to punish yourself that much for that long is not generally sustainable.
I think if you take Valverde as an example..the gains/ adaptations from 20+ years of competitive racing and the training that goes with that joined with experience, calmness and racing smarts must by far outweigh the natural physiological decline??
When it comes to Valverde I have said it many times, look at HOW he wins before you criticize and pull the doping card. He is NOT and has never been a rider that Blows away the race..he never does anything magical..he almost always wins by meters..NOT minutes.
Consistency is what he does better than most and when it comes to raising doubts I will always question BIG highs and big lows more than consistency.
I hear the timber trail is a must do..can be done over 2 days with accommodation available. Looks amazing!
Happy for Bernal!! Was the strongest once Pinot got injured so good win. Pinot not being there the last 2 days had a neg Impact.
To be a bit critical I would have loved to see Bernal launch a attack in the last 3 km just to make a statement.
The Movistar I will never get..Valverde clearly feeling good and no one in that group could match his pace at the end..why they did not use their numbers to get him to the line first I dont understand.Landa,Soler and Quintana wasting energy on attacks going nowhere. Perfectly placed to win that stage..
It will definitely suit Bernal better if Pinot and Landa ride aggressively. Thomas and Kruijswijk have similar riding styles where they prefer the high tempo.Except for Bernal and Thomas the other top contenders made it easy today for Alaphilipe to keep his lead. I think there will be more urgency amongst them tomorrow as it is not in their best interest to wait on Ineos to do all the attacking.
I think if JA is clever here and use his team well he can actually win this..he needs to try and go into the last stage with 1min in hand and then its just riding the numbers on the last climb. Mas will make a massive difference to help him limit the gaps...he needs to be on form for sure.
Feel the same about Porte, Pinot and Fuglsang..not sure its what the tour needed. Could come down to a movistar Ineos battle now and we had the potential for a big fight...but lets hope this time lost sparks a crazy day somehow with Pinot,Porte ,Fuhlsang and Uran trying to take back timeSo, Uran Uran lost big time today
I’ll be crying myself to sleep ????
Happy to see Mollema up there. Nibali in some of the best form of his life by the looks of things..and he gets stronger normally in the 3rd week. Lopez and Yates will have to be very aggressive from here on if they want to win..
O'Connor had a very good TT!...Tao not so much..
Double post..
Public trust building..cnr of great south and greenlane. I gym/ swim at the Olympic pool in New Market once or twice a week during lunch so can meet up for a coffee for sure at some stage. At the hospital?
If so that's awesome! Staff shuttle makes it easy to get across to Grafton.
Really bad news about Tom..he would have had a big impact on the race.
Also a bit ???????? about Tao losing time on the previous stage due to that crash near the end..not a massif loss but 1min is enough to put him back a bit.
So D - Quickstep wins again!! What I find amazing about this team..especially this year is the number of different riders that they are winning world tour races with. It's very rare to see a team take wins at that level with close to 10 different riders!!
I work in Greenlane so could join.????I'm just on the other side of the Domain (at the hospital). We should meet up for lunch one-day. Gather all those on this thread that work within walking distance from Newmarket.
Who else is there?
????
1 Primoz Roglic (Slo) Team Jumbo-Visma 0:12:54

3 Vincenzo Nibali (Ita) Bahrain-Merida 0:13:17
4 Miguel Angel Lopez (Col) Astana Pro Team 0:13:22
5 Tom Dumoulin (Ned) Team Sunweb 0:13:22
6 Rafal Majka (Pol) Bora-Hansgrohe 0:13:27
7 Tao Geoghegan Hart (GBr) Team Ineos 0:13:29
8 Laurens De Plus (Bel) Team Jumbo-Visma 0:13:29
9 Bauke Mollema (Ned) Trek-Segafredo 0:13:33
10 Damiano Caruso (Ita) Bahrain-Merida 0:13:34
Very happy to see Tao in there! I am a big fan and hope he does well in this race. He has been doing a lot of super support riding over the last 2 years so its great that he gets a chance to do something for himself.
I really don't get this decision..why take the risk? Seems a bit arrogant to me?? In a short effort like that there is very little pacing strategy involved and knowing what you're rivals did can't be a real advantage..its basically balls to the walls for +- 12/13 minutes. At the very least he could have gone for 2nd or 3rd rider in the team.I saw that. If it does come down then he could be shedding time against the favorites.
Was a bit of a late inclusion to the team so form might be avg but he will be a super climbing dom for Primoz...looking forward to see him climb again.Makes it look easy.I see Sepp Kuss is in the mix for Jumbo - that might be interesting!
He killed it at ATOC last year on the climbs - left everyone standing still
Was watching this last night again..my man Andy attacking with 20km to go..closed down 40seconds on Gilbert in just 2km and dropped him straight away. Ended up winning by more than 1min! Made it look easy..he remains one of the most gifted cyclists ever.
Plus I think the Fleche and Leige organizers are kicking themselves at this stage!! MvdP is hot property right now and to not have him there will be a bit of a let down for most fans!
That was just crazy..will remember this win for a long long time!! Love this guy!
I think cycling won today..that was probably the best example of what makes this sport so unique, complex and beautiful!! Best sport in the world by a million miles!!

I do think they should enforce this rule (drafting)somehow more effectively and it should be enforced. If allowed to happen uncontrolled it would significantly change the dynamics of the sport. Crashes and mechanicals and the risk it brings with it is a massive part of the race outcomes.
Big issues are mainly around consistency and time it takes to make decisions.
