  3. Yup at that price they weren't staying long Sorry!
  4. By Naming the thread "Cycling Socks" they kinda shut the door on any other brand that make a sock... I'll start a thread called "Bicycles" then flame anyone who disagrees with the brand that goes in first.
  5. Hey Chuck, obviously seen a large number of frame requests, so now the frame pricing is live too, check it out: http://niner.co.za/product-category/wfo-9/ R27599
  6. If you buy a bike for the groupset it comes with then you may be missing the point of cycling completely. I am not going to buy a Titan for example because it comes with XTR instead of a Niner with SLX at the same price - They cannot be compared. If you simply walk in and choose a bike form Game or Hyperama based on those credentials you will never descern the nuances to be had buying different/high end/niche/well developed bike brands and paying the extra money for the ride quality and geometry and suspension design or whatever that brand does best. You're investing in a frame and the price point will be met by brands by fitting the groupset afterwards, not the other way around.
  7. dollar 12.3 if your'e lucky. Plus 16.5% vat and customs - and that doesn't even include the 5K odd to get it here, plus the 15% duty on complete bikes... Convert that on your dollar and you're staring at 69195... Nico's price at R55K doesn't seem so bad now then eh? RRP in SA is now R61K for the complete bike.
  8. Niner SA are now bringing in complete bikes, so the RIP 9 and WFO 9 can be had in any of the standard build kits you see on the dot com site... the frame only options before worked out way expensive to build locally, and getting parts can be a hassle - Not any more check out new distribution and website http://www.niner.co.za
  9. Yes guys we have stock at Epic Bike Shop, selling out fast but will re-order soon. R295 a kit. It's very lightweight, convenient and keeps the actual plug strip clean and tacky. Its a very good solution

  16. unless its off...its on like Donkey Kong! They will sms or broadcast a cancellation for whatever reason...
  17. Whenever a car hoots at me I smile and wave a lot like I'm an old friend they are greeting... it confuses the hell out of people.
  18. The more bikes get out and ride, the more cars are made aware of us and our continuing existance and acceptance is inevitable. Hiding and removing ourselves is the wrong approach. Its bad enough we have to ride at 5:30 -6am - most euro starts are 10-11 or later!
  19. Look at racing culture in Europe. City centre full view, small streets... huge advertising possibilites, some excitement for the public to see on their doorsteps... In SA we have "take your bicycle and go race it in the dessert" attitude, then Somebody wins a race overseas and they are all "Proudly South African" Where were you when this oke/lady developed as a rider, how can you possibly claim it as a fellow South African? I have personally experienced the deep southern peninsula's (south of Ou Kaapse Weg) population to be THE WORST driving public in Cape Town, zero tolerance, always speeding, hooter happy, swerving maniac society. its just plain wrong, dangerous and inhuman. Lighten up, its Sunday, take a load off, stop and get out and watch, clap hands, then go get some breakfast and tell your mates what happened during your morning. Get your heads out of your asses and enjoy the world around you for a change!
  20. I also have a new darker edition to post... http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5509/11732180846_f6de166527_h.jpg
  21. If your LBS did a crappy job of converting then you're still screwed. If you cannot inflate a tire in the garage with a floor pump there is very little chance that bombing it on the trail will sort you out. Firstly dont just bomb the thing willy nilly... pinch the tire between tyour fingers and pull outwards toward the bead as hard as you can, work like this all the way around. Then make sure the area directly either side of the valve is well seated and not held up around the valve in any way. Place valve at 12 O'Clock and Bomb it, quickly assess where the leaking air is coming from and press that area flat to try force the area closer to the bead. Only bomb twice, if its not holding air then it's not going to, put a tube in and hand pump it if you have a hand pump, saving bombs for any flats later. Essential kit is the presta to Schrader adapter or see other thread on valve cap emergency converters - you should be able to then seat your tubeless tire or in case of a slow leak, bounce from one petrol station to the next refilling with compressed air as you go to get close to home.
  22. Tubeless tires plus sealant, excellent system, yet tires are moer expensive. Its cheaper for me to train on tubbies
  23. Elite Bunch canned at 10km to go. White line rule...cant be serious as there was hardly any wind really, I mean guttering wasn't really a killer option
  24. Simply the best
