  1. Correct
  2. Motorists cannot fathom this concept - *Must not overtake cyclist, no space*? (Head Explodes)
  3. Yes you are- as a cyclist you are only legally required to stay as far left as possible. You are also entitled to use the entire lane, then move left when required, if it is not safe to overtake when the road is too narrow, its not the cyclist who should not be there - its the vehicle that should NOT overtake.
  4. Formula RX on a budget, R1's on a spending spree otherwise best Shimano brake I've used - XT
  5. I have said it before and say it again...that road is a death trap. I appealed and released a video to Helen Zille that gone unanswered after the last tragedy there... My thoughts are with the little girl and that she makes a full recovery. I side with iCycling on this one for that stretch of road - Cycle two or three abreast in the middle of the road and do not let vehicles overtake - its the ONLY way you can stay safe.
  6. sounds like you have oil on your pads...

Haha yes, Lorenzo led Marquez until 3 laps to go, then there were three passing manoeuvres in the end. That's more than a whole season of F1! Pity Pedrosa cooked his tires getting back on terms with the top two, maybe should have taken more time to close the gap. Rossi Stuffed it in for 4th - Bauptista was impressive although alone in 4th.
  8. Run higher tire pressure than you would normally during the stages - 2 bars or so will greatly reduce your chances of cutting sidewalls - there are lots of shale descents that will ruin your race if you try run super low pressures. Pack a rain jacket, lots lots bombs and spare tubes.
  9. New 50mm prime lens to play with today... decided to shoot some stuff I had hanging around... http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7326/9628531444_53b8cccd4e_b.jpg
  10. I use Elite Paron cages and so far not a single bottle rocket. Make sure you have a smaller bottle with a decent lip on it for grip. Other tricks I have seen are a secret sock over the bottle to increase its diameter, as well as a thick rubber band tied to the cage then over the bottle until you need it, then swap with empty bottle. You can also wrap some cling wrap around the nozzle to ensure its clean by the time you need it.
  11. The cables are there...
  12. Road Tubeless is Great! There are common misconceptions above in most other posts - I have used Road Tubless for over two years: Most standard wheels and rims are convertible to tubeless just like a mtb rim - tape and valve system. Yes some manufacturers make tubeless ready rims - that's a plus. You must use tubless specific tyres - the secret is in the bead - its tighter and non stretchy so they don't blow off, and sidewalls are thicker. Fandacious the reason we run lower pressure in mtb tyres is for rolling resistance and grip as well as comfort - The same rule applies on the road - pinch flats occur when you push this envelope. The MAJOR plus is that sealant will seal those tiny thorn and fine wire punctures that you only see in your tube when you hold it underwater - the annoying slow leak - on tubeless you never know they happened. As well as a slower complete evacuation and harder sidewall combo that reduces the likelihood of a crash if you cut a tire. You can still put in a gaitor and tube if you have a cut. You can also repair your own road tubeless tyres by patching them on the INSIDE, for slightly bigger holes that wont seal I use a lezyne patch inside and a drop of Superglue on the outside.
  13. Confirmed this is not true, racing as per normal time schedule
  14. Not Ideal for me... I work until 1pm...
  15. Never had this problem in hundreds of Kays. Chain length correct?
  16. You do know WCMTB hosted a number of these events already this year right?
  17. let us know how long they last ... we could buy a few hundred and make millions!
  18. my pharmacy sells them for 6.99 in lakeside, anywhere else they are close to 20 bucks... what gives!
  19. One of the reasons I seek the steepest most feared climbs around is that they are desolate, empty for hours and you may find things that get lost in the crowded places. Just last week I hooted with an owl, had to slow down for a duiker that was stopped in its tracks by my headlights, and let it escape, and take home procupine quills for my daughters amusement at where I'd been while she slept in the early hours of the morning... and we're in the city... I've ridden that concrete road on Table mountain a few times, we rode along the dam wall and got caught up in the moment just looking around. Thanks for the pictures that capture it so well.
  20. awesome to watch!
  21. I think what you mean is that one still needs to have balance in their "training diet" to maintain enthusiasm. I agree. I only do intervals when peaking for an event and not simply year round for that reason.
  22. Strava will have to add another Flag radio button: 1) Speeds attained in a car 2) Digital EPO 3) Wearing a fake Moustache 4)...

  25. I don't like them either, but I do like the improvements in my riding they offer. For the cyclist on a time budget, they are almost the only option to get fast fast. For the Pro with all day to ride they can be avoided. Don't get me wrong, I still like to ride my bike and look around, smell the roses and take photos, chat and sight see... but when it's time to get fit then the blinkers go on.
