  1. All I know is that Mr Cancellara and his support team are the best at what they do. It is up to the other teams to play catch-up, either mechanically or chemically.
  2. Nice race, a bit rocky here and there, but otherwise OK. The sad part is that I lost my Camelbak insulated waterbottle at around 20km mark (just after the waterpoint I assume), anybody perhaps picked it up?
  3. Yes. It demonstrates commitment from the volunteer's side, and it is worth a guaranteed entry slot for the next year for yourself or anyone you care to nominate.
  4. Come on people, this opportunity expires today. If not taken it goes into the lottery bin. Next week if you did not make the lottery it will be too late.
  5. After Clarens nothing is really that bad anymore. I don't care if it is going to take me 5 hours, I am going to enjoy the 75km, not getting the HR over 140-150bpm.
  6. I am going to do the 75km, but at a leisurely pace.
  7. The uhm uh Anasta team is weigh in front of the pentalon.
  8. Buy it from Tacx online. Roughly 80 euros.
  9. AFAIK Bushido does not ship with software, you have to purchase the ant stick and TTS software seperately, latest version is 2.0, which started to ship in November 2009. If you were sold the ver 1.3 only 6 weeks ago you should ask for the latest, the dealer that sold to you should know better. Ver 2 is still buggy but much better than 1.3. It does run on 64bit Windows 7. Also update the Bushido firmware to the latest version once you get TTS sorted. Just make sure that you understand the procedure before you start with it, it is quite tricky.
  10. Sounds like "Atkins", or "the drinking man's diet", or "die dieet waarvan almal praat". I did the Atkins diet (as an experiment) for 4 months about 15 years ago and lost about 30kg of fat. So it worked for me. That was with no exercise involved. If you up the protein ratio of your diet, you also up the fat ratio, so you have to cut on the carb ratio (the starchy stuff such as bread, pasta, pap, rice) to "balance" it out, assuming that you eat natural food products such as meat, eggs, cheese, fish etc. Cutting enough starchy carbs from your diet for an extended period of time (about 3-4 days) will result in ketosis, which can be beneficial for fat loss esp if you do not exercise, but only if you are in good health ( but people who do not exercise regularly are typically not in great physical shape), and as this tendency to lose weight is more relevant in the later years of life this can be quite dangerous if not monitored closely by a physician, as the kidneys take a beating during extended ketosis. The problem is also that it is difficult to keep the diet on track, cheating with a bit of extra carbs will play havoc on your mental feeling of wellbeing, as well as cervelo mentioned, you basically stink (sweat and breath from hades). I have not been able to verify the claims from Dr Atkins that extended ketosis will clear the artery walls from cholesterol deposits, or bring high triglyceride levels under control. This is a topic very close to religion, politics and rugby.
  11. AFAIK these are not available from local toy stores.
  12. I thought that the commentator was Dutch until I heard him say that "Wetlands" won the stage. Maybe he is confusing the "Y" with the "T", those fonts are so bad. It looks as if the video is out of focus, probably an HD broadcast converted to SD. Grrrr!
  13. The bushing does not really spin but it should turn freely. Not sure if it will add any friction to slow you down... I have tried both with bearings and both with bushings and could not tell any difference. My take is to just replace them every three months with cheap Deore ones.
  14. Thanks Dibles. That is the area behind the chicken farm, right? Very sad as that is one of only a few half decent hilly spots.
  15. Can anyone assist with details of the exact location of this most recent bike jacking, the one in Hoekplaats?
  16. Seems I am doing things the wrong way around. I ride the bike so that I do not have to take the chronic asthma medication.
  17. Save yourself the frustration and money. Learn to do maintenance yourself, it is easier than you might think. A good book from Zinn or Parktool will guide you step by step, or do one of JB's courses at www.yellowsaddle.co.za . With the correct tools the job becomes easy, and very rewarding to sip on the beer that you can now afford!
  18. You are crazy. I'd rather cycle from Olievenhoutbos to Diepkloof, pausing at Northern Farm's gate.
  19. Yip, I know exactly what you guys are on about. Was a spinning instructor a few years ago but I quit 'cause I got bored of working out new classes every week. So I ended up just using the bikes on the outside of the studio on my own untill I got chased of it by some fat dude who also wanted a turn on the thing. Now I have my own at home but must say......I miss the "scenery" The ladies at the gym are asking for you.
  20. with milk? do you take sugar? no milk.... and one sugar for love or use a chocolate GU gel' date=' yummy....[/quote'] ...ermmm maybe honey rather? GI32 uses honey extract, so one spoonful of that then in yer rooibos... wait, have I just stumbled on some sooperdooper race drink mix here?
  21. I just don't get it. I ride a MTB, and I always do it on the gravel side of the tarred road, not on the tar itself. I have never given it any thought of training on the tar, just does not make any sense.
  22. Purnjap, I am not mechanically inclined (just ask my wife), but try a mtb maintenance book such as Lennard Zinn's 'Zinn and the art of mtb maintenance'. You will be surprised how easy it is to keep your mtb in tip top shape. He explaines the gnarly stuff in plain language, and with a lot of authority gained from experience. And you only need to buy the tools needed for your bike, thanks JB for your help there. Also gives you confidence on the trail to fix those unexpected troubles.
