  1. How times changed - two years ago the females was the most unpredictable and thus more exciting. Currently the men makes for the most exciting racing. Alan is peaking nicely and must be a medal contender. For obvious reasons he gets my support. Nino will find it difficult but his ability to fight back is awesome to watch. Personally I would like him to exceed Absalon's record if only to draw a new line in the sand. Both of them are legendary and will take the current crop a few years of consistent performance to beat.
  2. Looks like the Superlight from days yonder - single pivot and everything. The Blur with its patented anti-squad linkage won the day and became the best seller.
  3. Are you familiar with the term Trilabis? It means all Tril and Ribbes You probably need to be Afrikaans to understand it
  4. At the risk of being corrected, I think tyre pressure and tyre choice has a greater impact. Having said that the benefit of a wider rim is the ability to run lower tyre pressures with less risk of squirming and a flatter profile tyre. The latter might also be negative on grip if the tyre was not designed with a flat profile in mind. In my experinece a wide (ID) is a sensible upgrade. I would look for at least 25mm, prefereably more. Your current ID of 20mm is very narrow even by historical standards. Of course technique and skill can overcome most things. However, upgrades are fun and your significant other probably knows as much about wheelset/rim prices as ID choice on rims.
  5. Similar experience in Europe. South America was a blast, even then the African diversity with the change of the day is unmatched.
  6. This, and e-bikes, and discs on road bikes, and dropper post on XC bike, and using trail bike on XC circuit, and using XC bike on tar road, and ..., should just not be allowed! All of these inappropriate behaviours just lead to more innovation and who in their right mind wants that?
  7. Yes, but the 2000km on the bike will be all smiles, the 100k km in the Landy (or any car for that matter? Bike for me any day
  8. What do you use to clean in-between Smoove application?
  9. During the lockdown I had some time on my hands, as such I decided to raise my stereo speaker cables off the floor using special holders made from multiple layers of materials. The result was next to amazing! I then noticed the graphen impregnated dry lube being sold on the same website. I immediately bought two bottles and can't wait to try it. My expectations is sky-high to say the least. For those interested in these life-changing products, visit www.snakeoil.com Experience it for yourself, do not listen to these naysayers. Like my Grandpa used to say "Poor people are poor for a reason."
  10. No, asking prices are based on replacement cost rather than original price less 50% as guidance.
  11. Albert Ahrens - he makes excellent MCC also
  12. Easier to fit in the back of the SUV
  13. Before you sell the 150mm, alternatively add two spacers (more than factory install) and decrease the pressure with15/20%. Your shock will ride lower in normal riding position, have excellent small bump sensitivity and non-linear ramp-up will prevent bottom-out. Only tight uphill turns, when your weight is more to the rear will remain awkward. Small compromise to have for flying down-hill imo
  14. When you float like a butterfly it is. Note: personally I am the bumble bee variety
  15. Yes, 99% correct, only change the he to: he/she. The female variety is less common but not less serious. Once I had to listen to the difference between speaker cables raised above the floor vs. lying on the floor. It goes without saying I was blown away by the difference in soundstage, transparency, ability to place individual instruments/singers, etc.
  16. Giya G3 series2
  17. I recall Fox Front shox having not only "slow" , "fast" in writing but these were also complimented with a tortoise and hare graphic. I guess we did evolve, only slightly so.
  18. KZN Private estate called Phezulu, recently the trails were open to the public. They made it more rider friendly, took some of the fun away... Still awesome to have it in your backyard. Also do Giba often
  19. I've had success buying old stock, usually from shops converting to specialist dealerships resulting certain brands losing display space and the customer base changing to less radical riding and more weight obsession.
  20. Running a DHR II 2.6 upfront and a DFR 2.5 at the rear on 29" rims with 27.2 internal width. DHR has slights less dead space than DHF in my experience. Lots of my riding is done on very slippery hardpack with small loose gravel. I've managed to slide the front wheel on one occasion where I felt the tyre failed me, on two other occasions it was at slow speed and tyre placing was plain wrong (root and rut respectively). Each time the trails was particularly dried-out. On a wetter trail I've taken the first corner above fast and low with success. On inspection of the tracks afterwards you could see the slide and grip clearly. I have both an Agressor 2.5 and DHR Ii 2.3 waiting in the wings. Both for the rear. Looking for an Assegai 2.5 at a decent price point.
  21. Great choice. Happy miles.
  22. Nice, more punch than the K1's and better highs also.
  23. Some bling from Jeff Rowland. Paired with 725 s2 monoblocks
