Depends on the hub most have a wider space between the flanges than 135mm/142mm. Some keep those and just extend the axle and move the disc mount surface out

They will fit, BUT it sounds like he needs a 135mm QR. in which case it won't work

Get to your LBS/fork service guy ASAP. Depending on the severity you may be able to prolong the inevitable with regular servicing (doing it yourself) New stanchions "should" be cheaper than a new fork. Post a pic and maybe droo or one of the other Suspension experts can give you an idea of what you're in for

I think everyone is grateful for what has been done, but it's the "petty brand arguments" that resulted in the threat in the original post. If a group such as TokaiMTB is formed and opportunities to volunteer services/build trails/etc. is communicated, then I'm sure you'll get the desired effect. The first time I've heard of Trail Maintenance Movement (TMM) was in the first post of this thread. Financially who is one supposed donate funds to? and how?
