  1. Makes me think of an old movie
  2. I use a socket that fits onto the outer race(well actually just a tad smaller than the diameter of the race) of the bearing to wack it in.
  3. How old are these tires? Probably more than 2 years?
  4. I think MOST bikes in that price bracket will be more than good. Pick the one you like.
  5. The Thomson elite is still the seatpost to beat. Not the lightest, but I ride them.
  6. If it is still vibrating, I suspect that the batteries are still ok?
  7. Every single hubber will tell you a different story. There will even be the odd person telling you that the Monorail is rubbush and the Crossmark A1, because he had a sidewall cut with the Monorail (even though the casings are THE SAME) You will get the rich riding the Schwalbes and just "got to have" guys only riding the newest Ikons or Conti Xkings. Then you will get the weight weanies with their Maxxis Aspens and Race king Supersonics. Some will go so far as to cut off some of the knobs. Then you will get the pro's who are sponsored (So they will only have the newest: marketing) And then you get the rest of us. We ride bikes with HG53 chains and black tires. The tires depend on what you can buy cheap off the hub or that is on special at Chris Willemse. Depending on the experience you have had with the tire, of course. The only really really rubbish tire I have had was an Intense systems 2. The whole thing came apart (WITH A TUBE) The casing distorted and the rubber seperated from the reinforcement (difficult to explain). The Karmas are not tough. 3 of my pals have had problems with them. Punctures, casings that rupture, evil bubbles You will get the Race king/ Mountain king guys. You will get the Hutch Python guys You will get the Xmark/Monorail guys. And somewhere inbetween the Geax okes. Me? The Xmarks are tough to beat in value for money and they last long. Try it with a Monorail front and Xmark as a back tire (UST). They are not that great in mud, but then what tire is. I did the Sabie X last year on them (and a few other bigger ones) and I will use them again. I have also tried the Race king as a back tire (and I would be less than honest if I tell you that it was better. Same as SB8, Xmark, Larsen TT) I am past the stage where I will pay half my salary for a Scwalbe that will only last 1000km. Or the newest Conti X King or an Ikon at R600+ a pop. A tire is a tire.
  8. I rest my case.
  9. Science. You need to quote the the person who wrote the article. (And his credentials) What method was used? Was it an independant study? Refrain from calling an opinion a 'fact' or 'science' Any person can type any old sentence on the net and call it science. But please share your source.
  10. Please share the related scientific source with the rest of us.
  11. In your opinion, that is.
  12. According to your diagram the Aspen, Monorail and Crossmark is the same tire? Non of them offering good cornering.
  13. Crossmark as a back tire, Monorail as front. Larssen tt as a surfaced road trainer. What exactly was the question?
  14. Probably something to do with the type of mounting on the fork. International standard or post mount.
  15. If your alu stem is 100mm, you will feel the difference. For sure. Ps. For this good advice, you can mail your old rubbish stem to me for free.
  16. Dunno about road, but a friend had a EA 50 with 2 bolts on his mtb with a Monkeylite plastic bar and he just could not get the thing to stay put at the specified torque.
  17. Seker maar 'n gekskeerdery. Niemand kan regtig so dof wees nie. Ek moet bieg. Ek was self aan die begin uitgevang.
  18. Genade.
  20. Nobody, yes NODODY will think anything of you if you continue to be the poephol you referred to earlier...
  21. Kom by. Het jy by Juju lesse in maniere, taalgebruik en spel gehad?
  22. Geagte mr bean.
  23. Die garage het 'n groot pomp met min druk. Die vurk het 'n klein pompie met baie druk.
  24. Hoevvil kinners het jy?
  25. Pressure and volume. Pressure is measured in bar (psi or KPa) Volume in liters. My Reba fork is pumped at 100psi (or 7bar) 1 bar = 100kPa. My garage compressor inflates to 6 bar. Then the safety device kicks in and shuts off the motor. So even if I was so inclined to try this, it will be impossible to inflate the fork to 7 bar using my 6 bar of pressure. It is also not very likely that you will damage a chamber that can take up to 15 bar with a pressure of 6 bar. The compressor at your local garage probably delivers a pressure in the region of 4 bar (not many car tires are pumped higher than this, so there is little point in putting the stresses of a 6 bar pressure on the system. Now for the volume. As noted by some of the other hubbers, the chamber of the fork is minute. So getting the pressures just right with this large volume devices might be difficult. Another point is that it might be difficult to get the connection to fit properly onto your fork. A not so proper fit will make it virtually impossible to get your pressures right. So buy a proper fork pump. A Fox RL 100 that I had only required 70 psi, so in theory it would be possible to pump this at the Engen garage.
