  1. Carbon or alu post?
  2. Always a catching heading. As far as I could gather from the article it is more a use it/don't use it answer because results were inconclusive. Don't make the law yet. Me? A helmet once saved my face from an ugly faceplant. I wear mine.
  3. Tubeless I go for 2 bar on a 2.1 tire. With tubes (I train with them) 2.2 front and 2,5 back. But then I am 78kg's. A girl of 62 kg's can go down to 1.5 bar (tubeless)
  4. I have had Elixers, Juicy's, XTR's and now I have XT's. Cannot comment on the XT's because they are to "young". The XTR's I have had from 2007 with no issues. Not even a bleed. The only irritaring thing about them is that the levers are starting to rattle and the front rotor makes clicking noises where the disc is rivited to the aluminum spider. The Juicy 5's where OK. The G2 rotors were not to my liking. Now for the Elixers. The G3 rotors I like. And 6 bolt. The rest? I have a set of the entry level elixer 5's. Bleeding is a extremely tedious job. Do it again. And again. And again. Until you succeed(Not a given) The caliper of the rear brake does not always retract all the way. So the play on lever may get less during a race. The other stupid thing was that one of the 'master' cylinders did not function properly. Sticky. The so called taper bore tech? I will have to lie if I tell you that I can feel progressiveness. Pad live (metal) is good. Then you get these fiddly little washers (one concave and the other convex) Supposed the help you to get the alignment 100%. If used for a while the concave one cracks (Looks cast to me). A stack of good old standard washers will fix this. These washers also tend to take up the exact same position to each other EVERY time. So as for a 100% alignment? Hmmm. If you can get a set of Juicy's or Elixers for a REAL good price (with a good supply of Prozac and beer included) it might be considered. Shop around in the classifieds for a good price on SLX/XT brakes. There is always a guy "upgrading" to something 5.5781 gram lighter.
  5. They actually do. http://www.landrover-bikes.com/mountain/gents.html
  6. Post a pic.
  7. Why do you call this an upgrade? If you suffer from suplusmoney-itis, I will gladly give you my banking details.
  8. China works like this. You as them to make you a pair of pliers that you can sell for R50, and they will. Quality is your problem. You want crap, you get crap. Ask them to make you a pair of pliers that you can sell for R400, and they will. Quality is up to the buyer. You want a bakkie for R120000? They will make one. Just don't complain if the gearbox breaks. Remember that they had to put R15 bearings in that thing to be able to produce it for that price. Somewhere in the price is also the perceived quality factor. And also sometimes HIGH profit margins. Another factor that you have to thing of is the warrantee. Take some composite frames for instance. How many times have you seen these survive 5 years if ridden hard? (Ask Weight Weenie if his third frame is still ok.) So the companies have to build in a "price buffer" to replace your well used frame.
  9. I am a Gobi XM fan. Works for me.
  10. Clean the rotors with fine sandpaper.
  11. "seatpost got a Thompson already 540mm. Got fizik saddle" Jy skrik nie vir lang saalpenne nie, of hoe?
  12. I see you stay in Nelspruit. Only you can answer your own question. Take your bike to Mankele. Ride the longest loop. See if you can do it without getting off your bike. Decide if you are ready to drop your granny. By the way. The idea of 2X10 is to replace the need for a third chainring. So to "upgrade" from a 3x9 to 3x10 is a lateral movement. Not an upgrade.
  13. After the original XTR titanium ring was finished I replaced it with a XT M770 ring. After the XT ring I replaced it with a steel M660 ring. (The M660 SLX ring being a fraction of the price of the XTR ring) All three of these functioned in the same way. The XTR being titanium and the other two made of steel. Question: What is the difference between the M660 and the M770 middle ring? They look very much the same and both work the same. But the Xt is more expensive than the SLX.
  14. Ahhh the punch line. An all.
  15. Yes. If you ignore the Aspect30 part.
  16. Like SwissVan said. Move your backside backwards. Get your weight to the back of the bike. Even to the extent of your butt being off the saddle. For that you might have to lower the saddle a few millimeters. Get/train with a hardtail bike. Learn to use your LEGS as rear suspension. Technique.
  17. My 26er requires less than 10 minutes. Must be them big wheels that takes so long.
  18. That is what happens if you inflate your mtb tires with your diving cylinder
