  1. Have you ever tried to get them on and off a ZTR Crest? You need a crow bar.
  2. Spin and win.
  3. The age old question of the want and the need. Do you need a new bike? No. Do you want one? Well urmm... yes? Does that answer the question?
  4. I have to agree with you. Why do these peeps not just get on with their chosen lives? Why the insecurity? I could just as well have posted: I am a heterosexual white male cycling. Will I be accepted? Jackthepumperking. Get a life and go on with it.
  5. A handy online computer to work out your ratios. http://www.j-berkemeier.de/Ritzelrechner.html
  6. Another Jerry Springer special hub edition...
  7. Have you considered therapy? Seems as if you have some kind of obsession with faeces.
  8. Google is your friend http://forums.mtbr.com/29er-bikes/dt-swiss-xr-29-wheels-info-651446.html
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6PYoCoop-g&feature=relatedYou remember this one?
  10. Good one I prefer Pat Benetar
  11. Many guys ride with tubes without sealant. Depends if you ride in areas with duiweltjies.
  12. A tubeless tire weighs 700 grams. A tube tire 500 grams and a standard tube 200 grams. The tube tire stays inflated for weeks (if you don't hit a pach of dubbeltjies) Why can I not expect a tubeless tire with the same weight in rubber to seal just as well?
  13. They do hold air for a day. Next day I have to pump them again. I sealed the bead with liquid latex.
  14. Crest rims with 2 layers of tape.
  15. Any of you who has succeeded in a tubeless set up WITHOUT sealant (like a car)? I have not. Even the Maxxis LUST and Continental Tubeless tires leak through the sidewalls. So why buy UST tire if it is not a true tubeless tire?
  16. Eina! I am still in the dark ages with a 26er and everytime I think of going 2X10 I end up climbing my arse off. Last Saturday the first 14.5km had 950m of climbing. And then I thank the fact that I still have a 22 granny on my 3X9 setup. The pendulum swings back and forth. 5 years ago the "spin and win" theory was popular. What would you call it today? A big totti contest? Mampara noted that it is faster to walk than to use a granny. Point taken, BUT, I am there to ride my bike. Not to push it. Get a smaller chainring if it will make your ride more enjoyable. You are supposed to have fun, right? The more fun you have, the more you will ride. The more you ride, the more weight you loose and the stronger you get.
  17. If you see something for a silly price, just don't buy it. Easy. If you really want it, tell the oke that the CWC/CRC price is RXXX, so you will offer him RXXX- Y%. If he accepts, good for you. If he does not, he can sit with his used stuff till the end of days. Easy. All depends how bad you want the article. A free market system. I buy lots of stuff off the hub market. Usually cheaper than the LBS and even CWC.
  18. What was the verdict? who sells Formula hubs? I need a 15x100 front disc hub (DC81)
  19. Lazyness. Why get off your arse and do something if you can just laze away the days in the sun, claiming unemployment grants and blaming the economy/recession/BEE whatever. That is why shops only want to sell what is on the floor. If they have to order something, they have to get off their backsides. Then phone the wholesaler. Who has to get off his backside. Then the dealer has to wait for the wholesaler to phone him back. Maybe the wholesaler has to wait for stock as well. After that the dealer has to phone you again and ask you if the price is right. You say yes(or you will phone the dealer to tell him your decision.) Then the dealer phones the wholesaler. The wholesaler has to courier it. For that he has to get the man from the poskantoor off his backside. As you see there are lots of places to slip up. An all this for a mark up of R200. And then you have to pay vat on that as well. We live in an era of lazyness. Nobody will walk 800m to the nearest SPAR. They will drive. Otherwise they will have to CARRY the 2 liters of milk, the newspaper and a bread. You can always blame crime for having to drive. Everybody would like a quality job. No after hours. No manual labour. No sweat. Punching the keys of the computer. That is why internet sales work so well. I look on CWC website and order my pedals. I can see for myself what is not in stock. I can see the price. Then I pay. They get the order (already paid for) and courier the parcel. I pick it up sommer by die werk. The chain of people who has to get off their backsides is MUCH shorter. Therefore less expensive. So maybe I am also lazy. It is easier to punch a few buttons on the keybord and pick up my parcel at work. Rant over.
  20. I have done a few. Just ride a lot till December (aim for 12-14 hours/week). Do a shorter stage in December like the Sabie Experience WITH YOUR PARTNER. Finish comfortably? What does it mean? Top 100? Top 400? Make sure your partner has the same goal. Don't do more than 12-14 hours a week, even in February. Rather go for quality. Read what brussel said.
  21. Buy the more metal. I had a Windcutter. Disliked it. It ate disc pads for breakfast. And delivered a "shuddery" feel when braking hard. See if you can find a set of something like Avid G3's on the hub's for sale section.
  22. I switched from a standard flat bar(580) to a 660 riser(low rize). And developed a pain ?tendinitis between my scapula and vertibrae. Switched back and the pain left on the early train. Any others who had such an experience?
  23. Please pm me if you are giving away free new Crossmarks. I will even pay for postage.
