  1. Great article on a 1st class human with mad skills. I was in his workshop last week with a few steel project bikes of mine that need sharpening up and I got to see a new Grubby Grivet gravel bike that he just finished up. Holy Smokes, it's a thing of utter beauty and finished off with the most amazing grey colour scheme with a blue pearl overlay done by Jared at BMC. I think he needed to wipe it down once I left 🤤
  2. Yoh, really poor form to throw something back in someones face when they offer to assist 🙄 A little patience will go a long way.
  3. That was a fun morning out on the bike 🤙 It's been a very long time since I turned up at a funride and I was pleasantly surprised at how well organized this race was. Kudo's to the race organizers, marshals and helpers who braved that heat and still had smiles on their faces, even at midday in that heat. I decided to dust off the classic Bridgestone Radac for the event. For those old enough to remember, these are the bikes that the Southern Sun Mnet Team used to race in the 90's, with their star riders being the legendary Willie Engelbrecht & Andrew McLean. Needless to say, the bike was perfect for the rolling route, even with 13-25 ratio at the back and 39-52 up front I had no hassles... except up Odendals of course. I'm very grateful the finish was only halfway up that drag 😄 I started in Q because I no longer have a seeding worth mentioning and very quickly realized that there's no such thing as bunches back there and the riders do the craziest of things at random times... like sprinting off the front and trying to catch a Triathlete out on his TT bike who blew past us at 1000 miles per hour 😄 Then look around and ask who's going to help chase... wtf 🙃 So for most of the ride myself and a friend were sitting on the front (more him than me) and bunch hopping. At the last water my legs finally cried enough and last 20km's were pretty much done in survival mode. Great day out though, I might even do another one soon 😊
  4. Agreed, that climb belongs in no funride because there's nothing fun about it 😉😄
  5. I think they're more concerned about the riders than spectators. At least it's midway point between the Cape and Gautengeleng.
  6. More like just the skill of the photographer 😉
  7. @leon_pro pulling the bunch, early morning on Krommeree Road with the Brakkies group
  8. First rule of bike mechanics 101... the bigger the problem, the bigger the hammer required to sort it out. The axle has seized into the hub, it requires some force to get it loose.
  9. and is it the 11th-12th Feb or 1st-2nd April, there's conflicting dates listed?
  10. This was one set that was customized for a customer.
  11. I can do them on vinyl for you, done a few sets in the past.
  12. Sad to see no Social Team option of 12 riders this year, that was always a lot of fun for us.
  13. Gees Louise, if they did that to my bike all hell would break lose, especially on that crank issue. That's just plain negligence. Please don't let it slide because then the next customer will get the same treatment.
  14. I love that colour Morne, Military Green 🤙 Any excuse to post another photo of mine, I'm really digging is bike.
  15. As endurance sport people I think most of us have been in the position where you need to go on a drip to recover from a big effort or heat stroke. I can tell you from experience, if 1 x drip doesn't sort you out, your problem is a little bigger than simply over exertion. To carry on from here without a full recovery can do some permanent damage to kidneys etc. Rather throw in the towel and come back and fight another day.
  16. Sjoe, really hoping she's okay. Amazing how quickly if can go pear shaped 😧
  17. So it's your first ride on a bike you've just bought 2ndhand? Could it be that those marks have always been there but just hidden under some black polish and only became visible once you wiped the frame down?
  18. It just goes to show how carefully you need to monitor/manage an attempt like this. The warning signs must have be there but maybe she was just too keen to get in the big miles early in the ride and pushed herself too hard too soon? Hoping she makes a full recovery and can get going again 🤙
  19. Looks like an awesome route, I had the same idea in my head after doing the Cross Cape and you've now made it a lot easier for me 😉🤙 Keep us posted on how the trip goes please.
  20. If a wax and grease remover isn't getting rid of it then I'm afraid I'm out of suggestions.
  21. Matt is just a clear coat so you can have the bike clear coated again.
  22. Get in a car rather and finish your ride on a high note rather than the frustration of dealing with idiots in cages. You'll see what I mean after you've done the ride, your soul will be cleansed.
  23. Windless morning in Bottelary Hills today.
  24. Same place as above (Devonvalley) but yesterday morning with the mist hanging over Stellenbosch. Gees I love the Cape 🤙
