  1. A lot of them already are... Have a few mates who live on an estate with that option. Nothing gnarly, but it exists...
  2. I actually know this guy... Haha its super fun reading all the comments on this ad! Shame, I don't even have he heart to alert him to it!
  3. Yeah sure thanks champ. You go ahead and stop giving a crap. I'll keep doing what I do cause at least I can go home with a clean conscience. Ever had puppies? Or children? You punish in the moment so they know what they did wrong. Not 4 days later with a Facebook petition. Anyway, I better get some sleep. Lots of hooting to be done tomorrow! As a rep I get to drive about 1000km per week so I see a lot of assholes who both break rules, and a lot more who let them.
  4. So what would you suggest? Force the person to pull over for a chat? Yeah that'll turnout less aggressive. The point is to make that person know that their misdeed has been seen and reminded it is wrong. That why I hoot at people who don't indicate, cyclists who ride through red robots, and anyone else being a tool gets told so. And I hope they will should I be the offender. Can't stop cause someone will get upset. They need to grow up and take responsibility for their actions.
  5. So what should we do? Just ignore it? Bullsh*t. If you saw someone breaking any other law, you saying you're not going to stop? Remember, society will decay when we all stop caring. So shout EVERY TIME. hoot EVERY TIME. keep doing it. It's never a waste.
  6. Yeah no point buying a road bike for a once a year event. If you're going to pursue road events, which isn't a bad idea, hell yeah! But for now, pop slicks on and you'll probably sail up the hills past the roadies with those big cogs!
  7. I still can't understand how people think a layer of protection is not at all better than nothing. Seriously, even if it was to avoid road rash, helmets are worth it. And especially mtb, with all those pointy hard rocks to fall on, I would take any protection offered over nothing. I also find I'm more likely to fall and hurt myself at low speed, versus at high speed. Things become more of an obstacle at lower speeds. And I think we should all be shouting HELMET, if we don't we're saying it's ok. Also try shouting **** and they'll maybe get the point.
  8. Stand on the corner of the big traffic circle in the cradle. Stop passing cyclists who are on bikes on your list... Ride to shop and back...
  9. Oh and let's not forget an easiest gear ratio average of 39:25....
  10. Yeah.. Cause those of us who ride on zero suspended frames with tyres at 8.5 bar are the ones who demand a soft seat post. Mtb for roadies. Ass.
  11. Appreciate that! The comment was made that I was in fact doing what I was slaying others for, ie, calling to action while not doing it myself. Hence, if I could I would. And the explanation regarding the reasons that I cannot, not will not. Just think after the bliksem thread, we can all do something that is a bit valuable, making this a public statement by showing the country that we are valuable, on the road and off. Isn't that what bit comes down to with safety in the end? Time for us all to take a few hours off work and show support. And we need to start doing this more often too...
  12. I wasn't posting to aggravate people, nor to accuse. We had a lot of "ek sal daai **** more as dit my vrou was" comments on the original thread. Well now, go to the court House and let's show the country that we are a massive community amongst them, and stand by one of our fellows who was abused. As and for those calling me a big mouth with my "would be there if I could" line, I would really be there was I in Cape Town or the fortunate financial position to get there. Unfortunately, I am very far from it at this point in my life. Time to put your brave keyboard comments to the test. You should show up in full cycle kit to get the point across too...
  13. Seems its time for all the big mouthed manne to stand by their word... Anyone up for a protest outside the court? I would be there but unfortunately I have 1200km gap to cover. Day to win for cyclists. Come on Cape Town!
  14. Thanks for the responses so far, however I'm not looking for their benefits. I've owned and ridden deep sections before, these will be insurance replacements. Need to know more about servicing, ease of maintenance, and ease of obtaining spares? I'm told they're pretty bombproof, which I like, but knowing my luck, something will happen! Thanks!
  15. So I'm about to become the proud owner on the 50mm Mavic cosmic sl's. Anyone have any feedback with them? I've heard loads of complaints about spokes being hard to come by, but anyone who's riding them have any experience? What are the best brake pads to use to avoid screwing the brake track up? I hear the standard shimanos are a bit too hard? Thanks in advance!
  16. Hey Neg, don't know where you're situated, but sounds like Jhb. I don't have a whole bunch of experience, but speak to Tim at Solomons in woodmead. That guy knows his stuff when it comes to wheels, and because he's at solomons, his prices are pretty darn good. Service is amazing, the guy pretty much sorted my entire insurance claim and did so much work without expecting a return - of course some beers are on their way to him! But really knows his stuff and a really nice guy to deal with. Follows up with you, not the other way around, and doesn't look to screw you.
  17. Cannondale. And that's from a Scott owner. The specs are just superior in those guises.
  18. Whoever brings cash first is the right buyer. That's with shop deals or private. This should also be treated as a private deal, not a shop one. Sorry you missed out, but they also didn't specify how the first three would be received. Welcome to the hub lottery, where those with the fastest fingers get the deals! Oh, and grow a pair, while you're about it.
  19. Try out bryton, who are in the same office park in honeydew. They replace known problem items without a hitch.
  20. I still think you should have a minimum post limit to use the classifieds. The problem is that anyone selling a bike will search for classified to post it in, setting up an account takes two mins here, so they're here for 20 mins and you never hear from them again. That's where the problems seem to come in. Those of us who are regulars mostly know about sizing, pictures, etc. I also think that crap of editing your post as SOLD is useless. Just remove it dammit. It's shorter than the edit anyway. And what you trying to prove? Look how cool I am? I sold this part? Wtf? Pricing sorts itself out, as we witness over and over. This is also the site with provably the fewest suckers! I think.
  21. My two favourites recently: The one is the specialized tarmac, for sale for 10800. Been up for the whole year now! And his first few ads his line was "first person to see it will buy it!". Yeah. Sure. And yesterday, someone was selling a gps/hrm and the line was "almost never been used." Gotta love the classifieds!
  22. What I'm gathering after re reading this post is that you're pissed that ASG has taken over the event and now no one is sponsoring a kids home cycle team? I do hope this sounds less abrasive than it will, as it's not intended to be as abrasive as it will sound. Why should I care? Firstly, I feel that starting a trend like this in a child's home is irresponsible. A sport that costs 65k a year? Surely that money could be far better spent! Now you've gone and crushed some kids dreams, when you put them there in the first place. Again, irresponsible. Secondly, I can't be the only one who isn't a fan of "development teams". When I've been involved in races where they are, all I've experienced is snobbish little asshats who walks around like the world owes them the world. They don't greet, they don't act like friendly human beings, and certainly no one is teaching good road manners. And shall we all remind ourselves of the little incident regarding some development riders and bike thefts? I don't care much for them. If only they could appear more grateful. I know this will be an extremely unpopular opinion, but it's time we take a look at what we're doing. Someone screwed up here. If you can't keep hold of your event, SHAME ON YOU! you must have been the kid in high school who couldn't keep hold of his tuck money. Time to stand up for yourself there champ! Set an example to the less fortunate kids by giving them a life skill. Anyway, I digress. I believe you're just pissed because you feel bullied and now you're crying to a teacher. You don't deserve to own the event if you can't keep hold of it. And don't try to guilt trip us into boycotting ASG by using the little kiddies. That's poor form. Good luck with your boycott campaign sir. Oh and lest I forget - anyone getting rid of their ASG sourced gear as part of this boycott, I'll be willing to collect:)
  23. Didn't we see the same bitching rant a good while ago? Unfortunately, you pleas will fall on deaf, overpaying ears. Most cyclists don't care who's in charge. As long as they can pay for an entry and get their medal.
  24. That foil bit doesn't matter much. Adjust derailleur and you'll be sorted. Cassette isn't the problem here.
  25. Definitely derailer issue. New bike, the cable may have stretched slightly. Mine did the same thing and just used the inline adjuster to align it properly. Works perfectly. Check it every time I clean and service the bike. Does take some dexterity to find the sweet spot but once you known how it's really really one of the easiest things to do.
