  1. Having one of those sunday afternoons listening to all the good ol days stuff Listen to this video
  2. No I'm with you here, to use a term from the Captain - that's a wank move. I'd be peeved too. Yes the seller doesn't owe you anything but he also doesn't need to be a dick. Hence why I'm rather picky who I buy from.
  3. Have to admit, the last few weeks I've had to force myself to go ride. Once i'm on my bike I'm happy again, but the schlep of getting there has been a tad 'meh!' of late. So yesterday the OH said let's go do those fun rides we used to - we headed off to Rosemary hill - it's been a long time (nearly 2yrs) since I was last there. Apart from normal trail maintenance - they've added so many new offshoot routes and new obstacles - and riding behind my OH - off he goes onto the bull run bits - leaving me no option but to follow -so in a way a good push me out of my comfort zone ride - but also a lot of C'mon Uni FFS - it's not that hard If I lived closer, Rosemary Hill would most definitely be my go to place. at one point I thought I was going to die even after stopping for 10 minutes to 'recover' it didn't go down - so I think it was just funky. When we got going again, after about another 10 mins it dropped back down.
  4. They stole our idea on MixFM - they had a segment yesterday of Cover versions better than the original... How good is this (no video found) - just a great acoustic version. Maybe I'm biased, not a MJ fan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92mNH6g1p34

Was tough deciding between this thread and the Donald Trump one, but figured only the geeky ones amongst us will get it. I laughed out loud for real
  9. And go ...
  10. This was played on the radio this morning. I even stayed up in my car after getting to work to finish listening to it loud So beautiful
  11. have you guys been bulk buying malfunctioning crystal balls Noooo, I don't wanna.
  12. Bad news Lurchy, your crystal ball is malfunctioning I'll go as far as slicks for the 94.7 maybe. haha..
  13. With the water shortages and restrictions on hose pipes, I've been avoiding the mud, so on Sunday I decided to hit the tar. I rode through to Bedfordview to see what was going down with the Dischem 21 road runner race. I must say - all the cars between Edenvale and Bedfordview were really awesome - cars turning, pulling off - gave plently of space, waited for me to go - maybe they could smell my fear Riding on a single lane road though, with groups of pedestrians walking on the side of the road refusing to go on the pavement was another thing though. Best part of the ride. I grabbed my phone and keys, shoved it into my pocket - filled up a bottle (first time riding a bike with a bottle cage) - and off I went. No schlepping bike rack, big hydration pack etc - pretty cool. Didn't stop to take pics so these are all I have.
  14. Yeah thanks, that was my understanding too. I'll take it up with them tomorrow and see what they say.
  15. Before I wade through the red tape and contact Disco - the health assessement tests - according to their website I have a classic savers package - and they've taken R389 odd from my MSA for this. I did the tests at a Dischem. Anybody?
  16. Personally the idea seems silly to me that it would be deterrent to riding a bike, however over the holidays while at Dullstroom, my BIL was very excited about taking my bike and going pedaling around the farm where we were staying. But as soon as I insisted he wear a helmet, he would say never mind, I'll go later, and thus not go. Eventually I just left him. This was on jeep track at slow pace. I did notice on bits where we were riding over rocks or along a cliff face, he didn't argue about a helmet though. On the first day I did ride without a helmet as we only had the one, and my BIL was insistent he wanted to go ride right now - I was in my sandals too, as the rest of the riding stuff was only coming through later - it did feel rather odd, much like driving without your seatbelt, you notice when it's not on - rather than the converse. There's s kid in our complex, probably about 12 must have got a new bike for Christmas, he's riding around the complex parking without a helmet. No doubt if he falls, having a helmet might hurt less, but that's his parent's call.

    The movie thread

Hahaaa are you implying I'm rating my enjoyment based on eye-candy value? I had to go google who Eddie RedMayne is. I'm not one to watch movies based on who's in it, and I'm terrible with actor names. That sad, he's character in the movie is portrayed so well (IMO) that if he's supposed to be eye-candy - that's not immediately in your face obvious.

Watched Fantastic Beasts and where to find them this holiday. Not being a Harry Potter fan - I wasn't exactly looking forward to it - but I thoroughly enjoyed it. My sister found it to be too long. While somewhat predictable - it was enchanting. I watched it in 3D - it was one of those trying too hard to make it 3D - I think 2D would have been fine. On an aside - this self service thing at Ster Kinekor to pre-order everything is so annoying! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3183660/

*off topic Hey , since you and your brother bought your bikes - where's the pics of your rides etc ?
  20. had a WTF Uni ride at BRB there's bits of trail that I've suddenly developed a hesitation on since the bike change - forced myself to keep repeating them today, one still getting the better of me. Was thinking about it when I was driving home - maybe subconsciously I'm worried about damaging the bike, I don't know - bike fit to make some changes this week hopefully The rest of the way was really nice and peaceful - just rolling through the trees.
  21. If you look at the waterfall pic, you'll see Grrrr there on my old bike, took that along for my sister /BIL to ride. Both bikes get a solid wash today and then I'll move Grrrr to his new home, promise
  22. She sure is motivating me to ride harder, but the scary stuff ... I should change the 'pedal damnit' to 'earn it damnit'
  23. Didn't ride as much as I had hoped, but what I did was super tough, but super fun - even through the limits of my granny gear. Dullstroom sure is pretty - need to do back and explore some more.
  24. FWIW, I don't like those quick cuts/edits - creates like a strobe effect - hard on old eyes like mine
  25. I agree, I think I need to ignore the comments of, 'you can't put that on a Niner' I miss my Grrrr, I was going to get another character but maybe Grrr needs to stay with me on this Mtb adventure
