  1. I normally race vet's but the bunches in last years event where small. Add teams into that mix and they start feeling even smaller. I rode in the Open batch was a little more enjoyable.
  2. I see 2012 and 2015 was also following the same trend ! Perhaps next year the location will be favorable.
  3. They should hold it in a central location ! It was held in the same place in 2000. Form what I can see preference seems to be given to Gautengers for these events !

  5. You could look at a BR-6810-R series types caliper. However it would be best to check clearance as previous post suggests. Not sure what your current rear brake is. I have a TRP TTV AERO rear brake on my Felt TT bike that brake is terrible. In the process of changing it but requires a slight modification of the mounts.
  6. They are good tyres ! If for training and you want high millage then yes I wouldn't worry. But If you serious racer then they are worth every penny.
  7. I would think it's most likely due to the age. Furthermore it is seems to be a fairly quite soft compound so perhaps that contributes to it as well. Nothing lasts FOREVER !
  8. I don't get good mileage out of them if the indicator is anything to go by. But in saying that I have done about 8000km on a set and only had 2 punctures that I had to internally patch. I suppose its a trade off ant the end of the day. Still very fast tyres ! Original ones are not the lightest but still one of the fastest rolling.
  9. Any self vulcanizing patch should work. Make sure you clean the inside of the tyre properly, give a light sand to roughen up the surface wipe with rubbing alcohol apply glue then patch and leave to cure. I have used the approach quite often with good results. In some cases if the cut is fairly large it will work but eventually patch will get pushed out due to air pressure. In these cases you could try stitch the cut with fine nylon cotton, but normally his wont last long either and ultimately tyre need to be thrown away. I have never used plugs on my tubeless road setup. When have a hole that does not seal whilst out riding I use a tube with gator on the inside.

  11. In terms of resale you shouldn't struggle to sell a Caddy second hand. They are popular vehicles. Should also easily get your money back.
  12. Did a trip to CT last year in the 2.0Tdi Caddy averaged 4.8L/100km could not complain.
  13. My old 1.9 Tdi Caddy did over 300k before motor gave issues. So I feel I got a good run out of that motor ! Do oil changes every 10k and normal maintenance and the motor should last. The plus for me is that the motor is very simple and easy to work on. But yes if something goes wrong not cheap to fix. I think mainly due to the high compression ratio of the diesel engine and high fuel pump / injector pressure required. The assembly also has to be properly designed to handle that stress. So one can appreciate where the costs start to come from. Neglect and it will give issues. The type of drive you do will also have an adverse affect on the lifespan of the motor. Obviously long trip are preferable over constant stop start. I have a 2.0 Tdi now and yes the fuel consumption is better along with a few other improvements on the previous 1.9Tdi motor. To be honest every brand of vehicle will have will have a percentage of motors that give issues, nothing in life is perfect !
  14. I have a panel van short wheel base version without seats. I can fit 4 bikes in fairy comfortably. The maxi is 40cm longer in length and a nice to have but in my case was not absolutely essential. But if you can go for the Maxi having to much space is always better than to little.
  15. Fair enough. If I amm not mistaken year before last it was almost in the same area. In an ideal world the location should change yearly from province to province. This discussion should be under a different topic !

  17. Gone through various pairs of Look pedals without once having a issue, never even once had to even "look" at the bearings. Only problem I have is that the pedal body eventually wears out and requires replacement but that is normal and mileage / usage dependent. Unfortunately it is never going to last forever unless it stands on a shelf as a ornament.

  19. I cannot comment on the Boksburg store. However I can say that my dealings with their online store have been dismal. Customer service is non existant.
  20. Did the event two weeks ago. Basically its the old Tour of Good hope in 4 days. It seemed to run smoothly, I found it enjoyable.
  21. Just get a pair of DT Swiss 240 hubs and a set of Nextie rims. You wont be sorry !

  23. I dont own a R9100-P but would have thought power meter technology has moved over to using internal gyroscopes for cadence calculation. Therefore magnets are no longer required. Just find it interesting if the R9100-P does require a magnet.
