  1. Silverback Sola 1 Titan Carbon Race - try find one with the Crest rims already( some came with them, some didnt) GT Zaskar Pro All of the above i think would be better specced than your initial options.
  2. I dont like the Low carb high fat, or High Protein No carb thing. Its stupid. Its not a lifestyle change that most people would be able to maintain with our lifestyles and pocket depth ;-) Moderation for me is key. Train 4 days a week. High'ish protein with moderate carbs. For me, 4 meals a day work ok, and i still enjoy living. Food is good...it must be enjoyed...why deprive yourself because of a ever-changing theory by one man. Anyway...general rule of the intake comes from my gymming days. Body weight x 2 to 2.5 = Protein intake. For me, thats 85 x 2 = 170 grams per day. Your body generally will only be able to process between 20 - 30grams of protein at a time. To put that into perspective...a can of tuna is about 25 grams of protein. An egg is around 6grams of protein Carb intake is less obviously, and I work on Body weight x 1.5. If i need to drop some extra weight, i lessen the carb intake. Our bodies CAN handle carbs. Its amount and type of carbs that hurt us. You dont need fat burners...ive used them...and its not a good long term solution. Train more and and try as much as possible to stay away from junk food, processed foods, and McDonalds !!
  3. Actually there are pills to shake the fat...
  4. I purchased a mtb last year from Bike Basement, the salesmen wanted to charge me more than what the website advertised it at. I mailed the Big boss...He replied with a simple..."humblest apologies for the inconvenience...we will honour the price on the website". Was something like a R2k difference....but he honoured it nonetheless. Your situation does not seem valid....sorry!
  5. SRAM will work with SRAM. Just make sure the shifter and RD are both 10spd. I have the following on mine: x7 shifters - 2x10 SLX 3x10 FD ( which can be set to 2x10 SRAm X9 2x10 crank DEore Chain SLX cassette SRAM XO 10sp RD. Works perfectly!
  6. Free ride, dh, enduro not that great for climbing compared to xc\xco bikes. So decide what type of riding you want to do first. Although of late, the Enduro style bikes seem to be the "do it all" bikes
  7. The ever evolving Bottelary Hills!
  8. Check Gecko Cycles, think i saw a pair there
  9. They are identical...lol My front isnt the same because the LBS used the adaptor...and then some spacers! Didnt realise that.
  10. I actually dont think they are identical. But i could be wrong
  11. They're not claiming that this is a world beater....merely emphasizing the versatility of the VIPA frame. I agree with HAiry....trail bike would maybe be a better description...but that wouldnt have invoked any kind debate....hehe Its like a Polo Cross, or Nissan Juke....."not quite....but somewhere in between"
  12. hahaha....at least im not the only one that had this problem....got mine the other day. There are quite a different sizes for the adaptor, so make sure you get the right size. Mine also went onto a GT frame. LBS should have them
  13. Plenty exploitation happening in that country of late...
  14. Why don't you just buy all the items you've mentioned and take it to bike shop to assemble? This is fairly common practice....
  15. What type of riding? Rims are the obvious upgrade, but Carbon bar and seatpost(or just lightweight) and lightweight stem are good place to start.
  16. #BEESBOERHANDE
  17. You should maybe park at Hazendal and do the red route from there. +/- 40kms
  18. JA...rims are more or less on par, quality and weight wise so wont really be a difference. You can either buy a 9mm QR hub and rebuild the wheel, or get a '15 Thru axle to 9mm QR' adaptor.
  19. Not morbid....just bitter. Put a smile on your dial sunshine...
  20. Thats coz in Gauteng, u guys use the stolen bikes for muti... u might find the spokes buried in a shallow grave....
  21. Called Gecko Cycles....they've got the puppy im looking for! Thanks okes
  22. Ok great! Its a 160mm rear disk. Just thought i bought something that cant use! eish Thanks for that...will call my lbs quickly
  23. Hi, Need assistance with rear caliper mount on an Avid Elixir 1. Bought a set few weeks a go, but tried to fit it on the weekend and realized that the mountings on the rear caliper and mountings on the frame are different. Mountings on the caliper face downwards, whereas the frame mounts come in from the side. Is there a mounting adaptor tat will fix this, or this just not going to work on this frame. Frame is a 2012 GT Zaskar pro 9r Any help will be appreciated.
  24. Not sure if it's been mentioned anywhere here....but try Greg Hesslewood. Mate of mine in Jozi, and a brilliant knife maker!
