  1. These balance bikes are an amazing concept, kids pick up riding so quickly and effortlessly without any instruction. I'd just say that the one advantage the Strider has over this bike would be the way the wheel stay is shaped as a footrest and includes a bit of grip tape there. It encourages the kid to tuck their feet up when they start balancing and even stand on them and pump when they get more advanced.
  2. Chesty and helmet mounts definitely offer the best footage. The handlebar videos tend to be pretty boring.
  3. That would be Peach you want to speak to.
  4. If you only read two posts in this thread, read the two above me. Both great bits of advice.
  5. Rumour has it you might even get a world champ.
  6. the soil is quite damp just below the grass level. Great conditions for trail building, everyone. </hint>
  7. It's not a very intelligent sport when we think about it.
  8. Yup, accept that you're going to have a few train wrecks along the way then stop worrying about it. There are two types of riders; those that have crashed and those that are going to crash.
  9. Keep crashing 'til you stop crashing.
  10. New legislation dictating that all new office buildings or corporate rental buildings offer adequate showering facilities. I know this sounds petty but I think the idea of arriving at work sweat soaked without anywhere to shower puts a lot of people off commuting. Cycle lanes that are on roads to be separated from road by concrete bumps as per the picture below. Doing this allows cars in trouble to be able to utilise the yellow lane should they break down but makes it extremely uncomfortable for any car trying to move into that lane. http://en.zicla.com/public/img/cycle-track-separator-light-segregation.jpeg Cycle lanes to offer two way traffic. This would reduce the expense as only one cycle lane would need to be constructed.
  11. Makes sense though. They can't hire more expensive, experienced people full time just to cover how busy they are on a Saturday. So hire a bunch of cheap youngsters with basic knowledge to help you sell bikes on Saturday and keep your core group of experienced staff to help customers during the week.
  12. And you got all that from my suggestion that you try resolve it with the owner? Nice work, Rust Cole. Look, we all make mistakes, it's how a person (or company) resolves them that defines them. If you phoned Joneen and sorted it out then great, hope you had a good outcome.
  13. Nice work, Bogus, tastefully done too.
  14. Whose double standards? The first thing that comes up when you try to post something under the Rant and Rave section is this little bit of advice: Before you rant: Has a reasonable attempt been made to resolve the issue directly with the party concerned? If this is the first the other party will hear of your negative experience we strongly encourage you to engage them directly and seek resolution offline prior to posting here.
  15. Probably better to have chatted to Joanne before venting on here. If, as you say, you've received great service from them for the last decade and you've had one bad experience then it seems a bit unfair that you've ranted on here once and haven't posted any praise for them before (I assume). I've frequently stopped in there with a small problem and just been handed a part, free of charge. Most of the staff there know what they're talking about but you're occasionally going to encounter an inexperienced assistant who's still got a lot to learn. In that instance, just ask for someone more knowledgable.
  16. Nope, not a heavy guy at all. Not sure what make it was.
  17. It would be fine, we're mostly discussing the latter part of OP's post.
  18. Saw a broken direct mount stem at Cascades this last weekend. Sheered straight through on both sides.
  19. Agreed. The stem carries all that levered force between your bike and your bars. If you find yourself in a situation where your bars are no longer connected to your bike it's going to get ugly very quickly. I'd definitely prefer having a properly engineered piece of kit there when I'm barreling down a hill rather than the cheapest one I could find.
  20. He used to be such an eloquent rapper before he fell off his bike without a helmet.
  21. I think the point of the ad is how easy it is to miss something when you're concentrating on something else. Watch it, it's pretty effective.
  22. I want to learn how to corner. Like in your avatar.
  23. Trust me, we're all suffering post KZN blues right now.
