  1. Can’t imagine there was anything in Killarney to t-bone to cause the same head on accident?

    New garmin edge

I’m with you, never had any issues with my Garmin products, and really have had quite a few. That said, my out front computer has been a wahoo elemnt bolt v1 for a few years, never skipped a beat, just so simple to use. I sold it to @TumeloM yesterday and have upgraded to the V2 which continues with the simplicity approach, with some color added.
  3. Never seen a fork snap there before, the wheel looks perfect. Wow! FWIW I almost avoid training rides through Camps Bay and especially Clifton anymore. It’s just to random there during the week.
  4. No beating the value of Titan, gets my vote too. (you won’t see other manufacturers giving advice on their product here on bikehub either)
  5. A Carbon rim would have been a disaster, thank goodness you run Alloy. Swapping to the rear with a gator is your best bet, but honestly reliability will be on your mind the whole time you’re riding, better to replace.
  6. Being 40 odd still leaves you plenty of time! Start with smaller events like W2W or Sani2C, you'll establish a partnership with someone you might build up to the epic with in no time. Transcape is also a multi day event that can prep you and a potential partner, and actually a great event too.
  7. Keen to know what fixes they tried. For rim damage I’d imagine only a tube would work, but have seen a solution where you duct tape the tyre around the rim and tyre to compress the bead onto what’s left of the rim.
  8. My epic has a UDH hangar and recently removed my RD to check if the hangar was straight. (My indexing was behaving weird and generally start here). these hangars are already of a different indestructible construction if you ask me, before UDH I could easily bend my hangars straight with two shifting spanner’s, not a chance with this one. my point is that much of the concern around this new RD from sram, actually already exists in the UDH design itself, and it’s already here. Don’t think it’s SRAMs fault (or place to be criticised) for what is a revolution in RD design. as a bush mechanic myself, I see much of the independence in running the latest tech falling away, you either move with the times or ride old equipment or lesser spec. As an aside, I’ve never owned an electronic shifting drivetrain myself and probably won’t anytime soon, but the new product choices are becoming constrained with both shimano and sram moving in this direction of battery dependencies, from what I can tell non of the SRAM RDs are cable driven in the new range?
  9. did you get your power meter sorted?
  10. Nice addition 👏 Now for that 42/44t chainring 😆
  11. Keep in mind Thule make a roof rack that also needs the front wheel removed and one without the need to remove the wheel, keep an eye when ordering. The one benefit of removing the front wheel is that the bikes sit lower nicely behind the cab.
  12. Speed company racing -> Underdogs last year, this year a target on their backs. I think beers and Blevins are going to be putting a lot of pressure. and of course never write off N1n0 👏
  13. Best option is the Thule roof racks over that cover, but then you can’t open it. Next best option is a towbar rack. wouldn’t recommend a tailgate solution.
  14. Defs Kickr 6 if you use zwift. The direct wifi connectivity removes lag, and makes sure you have two open Bluetooth channels for heart rate and cadence on an Apple TV. kickr 5 has the option for an Ethernet direct connection, but will be a faf.
  15. I regret not upgrading to the insta, the footage it captures is effortlessly good. if you must get a gopro, make sure you get from the 7 black and up, as from this model that had the really good “gimble “ effect which is a must for vibrations.
  16. There is a nice option coming up next weekend for those looking at doing Emperors classic and die groot trap separated by a week on 26-Mar / 2-Apr. Both race entries are R980 (R490 ea.) Flights are around R3500 including handling for Sports equipment. Accom / meals / transport aside, great if you have people in JHB who appreciate your visits 😆
  17. I also miss the CTCT MTB event, and the special combined medal for doing road and MTB.
  18. If looks could tell a story - this chap was in shock 🤕
  19. I’m in the black outfit with white helmet behind the chap in the yellow Scott kit. i get ptsd watching this video, the sound from those falls were hectic.
  20. @JM_NEL would you mind pulling that same graph you did for 99er please 🙏
  21. “If information was the answer, we’d all be millionaires with six packs” have you read or heard about the book called the 4hr body by Tim Ferris? It’s the highest signal book I’ve ever read, and as long as you ignore all the advice you get from friends/dr’s/YouTubers clearly on steroids, and just follow the advice in this book, you will succeed. It changed my life! 130kgs at the start, now fit and stable at 83kgs.
  22. Some brutal falls witnessed in 1A today - the bunch that fell down hospital bend apparently knocked a rider clean out, then a couple of sporadic falls, including one climbing up towards the Scarborough split. I’m going to sound old, but in all my Argus’s/CTCT’s never felt as vulnerable in the bunch as today.
  23. I’d even say just have the SMS on your phone they recd with race number. But a letter will be safer.
