  1. It's in at that place in Parkhurst. Where I bought it. Cannot remember the name now. Descale, new heating element, new seal and new sieve. I have no idea if it's expensive or not but I do know it's a lot of money. I don't make a lot of coffee I don't think. About 4 cups a day but that is every day. Unless I am away.
  2. I read that Truth in Capetown was rated the worlds top coffe shop by a UK publication. Nice one. My Oscar is in for a service. Wouldn't heat up. The seal has been leaking for a while and I have had the machine for two years so in it went for a total service. R3750 with labour. Ouch. Anyway I am supposed to get it back tomorrow. I have been using the aero press. It's OK but it's not the same.
  3. Did that hike last year and immediately booked to do it again next year. I loved it. Aero press for me on trips like that
  4. You mean like the meltdown that occurred when the Epic riders thought they might not be able to do the Argus?
  5. This rule pertains to not being allowed to ride non sanctioned races. Nothing to do with what is happening in Italy
  6. So did I. I think that's why I got grumpy about the price. More coffe sounds like a plan though
  7. R40 for a bar. Wow. That's amazing actually. Last year Allora was running a lunch time special. 300g steak with veg for just R9 more.
  8. Perhaps if Sky would buy that for Froome he would finally get his face off his stem and get to see some of the TDF scenery.
  9. Interesting. Not their top frame but a very good frame sold more as a comfort ride rather than out and out performance.
  10. I would bet it's the lens. When viewing through the camera viewfinder the image you see is with the lens wide open. This is to make the image as bright as possible. It has certain drawbacks like not allowing you to review depth of field but there is a method to deal with that. When you make the exposure a number of things happen. The mirror moves out of the way making the viewfinder black. The lens shuts down to the aperture selected for the exposure and the shutter opens. Other things take place on the sensor level that we will ignore for now since they are not relevant to my theory. When lenses get old or take a bump or suffer some kind of mechanical damage it is fairly common for the blades of the iris that determine the aperture to not close properly to the selected aperture or to close too slowly and be still in motion when the shutter opens and the exposure is made. This results in an over exposed frame. It is frequently intermittent and or variable as friction is a common cause and that can be affected by many different things. Anyway that's the theory. Best way to test it is to use another lens or if you don't have one choose a correct exposure with the lens wide open and a high shutter speed to give correct exposure. This will mean the lens is not required to shut down as the aperture selected is the same as the wide open viewing aperture. If the problem goes away with these tests then you know it's the lens. Lenses can often be repaired. If the problem doesn't go away come back here as there are a few other things you can try.
  11. Well I teach LR as well. In my studio to small classes in Rosebank. If you interested you can attend for the cost of the lunch. Let me know
  12. You have a very good eye Wyatt. No doubt about it. You say first time in a studio. How did that come about? I mean by that are you just not keen on studio work or has it just not come up? Where was this studio? Did you hire? Would you like to work more in a studio? Don't mean to pry. Just curious. And I mightt have an idea.
  13. Brilliant. How badly edited is that article. Hey Tumbles those guys need you!!!!
  14. Not all bad. Helicopter was deployed and one suspect was arrested.
  15. If the cheating is driven by ego then being exposed as a cheater is a very real punishment.
  16. Leafy greens are great. Spinach and eggs for breakfast has become a staple. Salad with lots of olive oil is also a standard supper for us now. Also a big help with digestion. In my limited experience it is easy when tackling this diet to ignore or pay little attention to the component of the diet that says eat vegetables. The fats make you feel quite satisfied and supply all the energy requirements so the absence of fibre and micronutrient rich vegetables is not really noticed. It is not a fault of the diet but is frequently a fault in the way the diet is implemented. I obviously don't mean things like potato but vegetables like cauliflower, broccoli, green beans, spinach, lettuce, green peppers, cucumber and so on. Eat lots of that stuff. It's great with butter.
  17. Been wondering the same thing.
  18. Yes that's a good quality print. I used to print black and white for people like David Goldblatt and Michael Meyersfeld. I'm a bit fussy about printing
  19. Was going to print on hahnemhule German Etching but not to be. Printer giving me an error message. It is an Epson 11880. Sounds expensive I'm afraid

  21. Amazing. That's MTB at its best. I'm glad the ladies get the same prize money as the men. They deserve it.
  22. Wow! That is harsh. I would rather be rubbish than a bumbling ordinary. It's on the money though. I was feelings a bit like that about Sky but then along came Stanard.
  23. Hope the windies klap the Kiwis.
