  1. So, I slipped and fell on my keyboard and this arrived today. Thanks @Evobikes
  2. Good choice! Don't forget to post some pics from your ride
  3. Is it safe to ride on your own these days ? There was a time where that wasn't recommended (let alone ride up the old pass)
  4. I think that @Kom is referring to something like this: This will obviously catch a bit of mud and has potential to pop out if things get bumpy, but there are various ways around that.
  5. They look very interesting! https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-mountain-e-bikes/644920/2022-forestal-siryon-gx-axs-upgrade https://bicyclegarage.co.za/collections/e-bikes-1/products/forester-siryon-halo
  6. Quite a journey from quite a character. Some of you may remember the 'Ladies and Bicycles' thread from a few years ago. After seeing a comment about herself, Imogen sent a message to Admin and he correctly froze that thread. It was a watershed moment in the history of Bike Hub. https://velo.outsideonline.com/road/unsung-heroes-imogen-cotter-on-coming-back-from-a-near-death-experience/
  7. It's not him. its the equipment again... https://road.cc/content/news/froome-blames-equipment-after-being-left-tour-de-france-302085
  8. All that negative talk would get you roasted on the thread dedicated to him.
  9. There's fight in the old dog yet !
  10. Looks like you may be treading the line between having enough water and having a hot/sweaty back. I am used to my by Camelbak and want to be sure that I always have enough to drink (and put tools and snacks in there too), so I am OK with a sweaty back. Your trip sounds awesome though
  11. Hopefully the act of coming back up is part of the deal...
  12. Thanks for the replies As per the original post on this topic, Fox is super expensive to service. Lyne has great products and support, but there are no service kits available right now. Not a problem if I bought a new post, but will be a problem in the future. But, I imagine that stock would have arrived by then. Lyne also wins on price vs OneUp or Bikeyoke. I the mean time, I should service my current Lyne dropper, but cannot because there are no kits...
  13. Smells like clickbait to me Or just an invitation for the Twitter Trolls to run wild 🤣
  14. Digging up an old thread here, but here goes: I may be in the market for a new dropper seatpost. But the question is 'which one' ? I could easily fit a 150mm dropper on the frame. Choice is Lyne, Fox or e*thirteen. Based on this thread, the Lyne is the obvious choice, but I see that service kits are not in stock at the moment. The e*thirteen is about the same price, but I don't see service kits anywhere. The Fox is 2nd hand and about the same price, but there is no way that I am paying R2500.00 for a service. The current seatpost is a Lyne and 'only' 125mm and is very slow to return. I am not sure if its a V1 or V2. There is no air pressure to adjust because its a cartridge
  15. If you are next to a fire, all of that sounds much more attractive than going surfing 🤣
  16. Mixed reviews here: I have ordered a few things from them. Its fine if you are not in a rush for something. Its not a quick process, but if they have stock or can get stock, their prices are good.
  17. I remember getting change from a R20 note... Back when there was a forest And there was tea and cake at that restaurant
  18. It rained a LOT this week, so the contour/fire roads will have a lot of standing water. Puddles would be the wrong word. Oh, and some of the roads become rivers. But the trails themselves are OK. You can park at Bootleggers or at the picnic area, and get your day pass at the boom for R100.00. Take cash and a card, just in case the ask for the one you don't have. Easy and low maintenance. We are hoping to find a gap in the weather on Friday. Enjoy!
  19. Ja, this is what I thought. So, you live in Town and have mates visit you from somewhere else. You wanna zoot up to The Blockhouse and show them the views. So you jump in your car and drive to Tokai and pay R100 for the Day Pass and then drive back (during office hours, of course) so you can do the 3.5km ride from Vredehoek. Ok. That's enough whining from me on this topic.
  20. Can anyone clarify or confirm if one needs the activity card for the Kirstenbosch and the front face of Table Mountain ? And if so, where does one buy a day permit for this ? I have my Activity Card, so this isn't for me.
  21. It sounds like you are new to discussions regarding Tokai. Groups have been lobbying for years! Telling people to toughen up or to stop whining isn't going to get people on your side either. People can and will complain about a process that is difficult and seems unnecessary, especially when there is no return on their effort and money spent. In a world of online and digital and electronic, its frustrating that only one place can do it. Only on weekdays (but not during lunch time). Only if there is power. And only if you have the correct form of payment. So, for me its a 20 minute trip. For someone who works in Town, its 1 1/2 hours. By the time I am done with ID photos, proof of address, filled in forms etc, I feel that I could have opened a bank account or something much more serious than getting permission to ride on the mountain. Yes, getting the card is the right thing to do. And yes, it does sound sanctimonious when you say it.
  22. Ja, greenbelts are great along with Ruyteplaats and the Constantia Nek path. Table Mountain (Blockhouse) is gravelable since they took a grader up there. There are lots of paths and 'sneaks' around the burbs (Noordhoek, Sun Valley, Fish Hoek, Muizenberg and Kirstenhof) But Silvermine and Tokai are not awesome on a gravel bike at the moment. I haven't been along the Kirstenbosch loop for a while - that was pretty rough last I heard. Someone on another thread about this said: Just because you can, doesn't mean that you should....
  23. Speaking of investing in infrastructure, their card machines are 'card only' which means that you cannot 'Tap to Pay'. It felt like I had stepped back in time in that little cottage. It really is a minor gripe, but I don't carry cards with me any more so I have to go back another time.
