  1. ANC tears into Malema http://news.iafrica.com/sa/2348800.htm
  2. While sewing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old farmer, who's hand was caught in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to the ANC and Julius Malema The old farmer said, 'Well, you know, in my opinion, Malema is a 'Post Turtle''. Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him, what a 'post turtle' was. The old farmer said, 'When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post turtle'. The old farmer saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain. 'You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb-f### put him up there to begin with.
  3. Arent they pretty different bikes? One is a 100mm travel XC race bike, while the other is 120mm travel race/trail bike. I wouldnt choose it on spec alone.

    Bike Tools

I think most of the tool boxes are more Shimano oriented (BB tools etc). I see the Park tools one has Campy stuff, so the Shimano stuff is unused = waste of money for you. Rather build up your own with tools you will actually use as you learn. (Also Park products are pretty expensive, you can get better value on other brands). ie you dont need Park screw drivers or shifting spanner etc. I also think you pay duties on tools. Not sure about that though...
  5. NEXT SEEDING RUN: The seeding run normally takes place on the first Wednesday of the month. However, Racetec has not completed the seeding calculations after the 2010 Cycle Tour, and the seeding run will take place only in the week of 12 April 2010.
  6. Specialized does a set of seatpost mounted bottle cage holders (30.9 diameter, so they fit Giant seatposts as well) http://www.specialized-sa.co.za/detailequipment.php?equip=357&cat=180 About R130.00. I would suggest covering the mouth piece and looping something elastic over he top of the bottle to stop it launching like a scud)
  7. Do you get tubeless slicks?
  8. A pre stage cuddle or pre stage panic attack?
  9. Werent there some Mavic SLR's floating around here? Otherwise, some ZTR wheels? Industry 9's?
  10. Polar CS400
  11. What about pumping your tyres up a little more? You will probably still bottom out no matter what rims you have. 819's are heavy compared to your ZTR's and you can still ding them. Trust me, I know.
  12. If I were out bike shopping with that sort of cash, I would look at the Giant TCR Advanced, or possibly a Scott CR1 or Addict. But that's just me. There is a lot of choice out there and my wishlist changes regularly. Let us know what you get in the end. Happy shopping!
  13. A guy like that deserves a face full of pepper spray for that sort of abuse.
  14. Contador's Giro bike?
  15. Very sad! How must you be more careful if you are riding in the yellow line and you get hit from behind? (if that's what happened in this case - I dont know)
  16. Icycling and CWC's prices are great - especially lately, but unfortunatley CRC just has so much range and stock that isnt always available here.
  17. Good news Schwynn!! Post pics of your new machine when its built up. I was pretty nervous flying up for Sani. Signing that damage waiver didn't fill me with confidence - no responsibility on their side what so ever. Luckily everything turned out fine.
  18. Peter and Chris, I think you would sell a lot of Hope products if you brought them in at your usual good prices.
  19. Seems like every 2nd year he has a major accident! He is one tough guy though.
  20. It says there: Fox 32 F29 RL-100, 15mm thru-axle, tapered steerer fork - so that clears the front hub up. I can't tell from the specs whether the rotors are 6 bolt or CL type. I would guess that they are Centre Locks...
  21. Guys' date=' for those of you who don't know.... You all know how Lance tweeted in Aussie and Ireland that he was going for a training ride and people were welcome to join him and 1000's did? Well, he wanted to do the same thing in Cape Town. Someone with influence warned him against it. Imagine the scene- thouands upon 1000's of cyclists coming out. The traffic chaos would have been worse. The scenes would have been apocalytic (for the Slow 1's who tend to be minus IQ'd, that means disastrous). So if it had not been for 1000's of fans, finite road space, and individuals on the ride who would be embarrassing to be associated with, especially the Slow 1's, we could have had the opportunity to ride with him. Congrats to all who rode with him. May you long cherish the experience, and share the story with many, of the day that you rode with an institution and a living legend. [/quote'] Never mind the fact that the Twitter ride would sort of undermine the R175K Charity ride. Imagine paying that and then 2 days later 175 000 chops pull up for a free ride with him!
  22. Aren't you a PPA member? Grandstand is pretty focused on the Epic (even though they are running these 2 races as wel). I doubt you will get a call... Expensive races to enter...
  23. Steve will be out of a job if he did that...
  24. Take them off. They just slow you down!
