  1. It's this article that has caused the hysteria people to be so concerned https://medium.com/@jurgenthoelen/belgian-dutch-study-why-in-times-of-covid-19-you-can-not-walk-run-bike-close-to-each-other-a5df19c77d08 https://www.runnersworld.com/news/a32099136/coronavirus-viral-simulation/ Be Careful Sharing This Viral Simulation—It’s Not an Actual Scientific Study
  2. Same for the Camps Bay stretch this morning (race numbers, but no water tables)

Or a saddle that's too low...
  4. It's becoming a case of ride in groups or Go Zwift - and not everyone has the 2nd option. So, while certain people vilify riding in groups, I say 'safety in numbers' (with buffs on of course ). It's the only way you can be cautious or more careful.
  5. From what I understand, there is one lined up but it hasn't been confirmed yet (I wish I knew why).
  6. Maybe things got a bit serious with John Wick, so he is trying to balance that out
  7. I am hoping that Double Century still goes ahead in November (as long as we don't have to wear masks while we ride...) The one day format with self supported feeding stations and no race village may help.

  9. I think that's where you lost the high ground and your valid point got lost in the angry swearing and ranting.
  10. Is it closed because hikers and bikers aren't wearing masks ?
  11. Pelvic inflammatory disease PID stands for Proportional-Integral-Derivative. On a basic level, a PID controller uses the PID algorithm to determine the best way to control whatever process it's used for. PID controllers are used in a wide range of industrial applications, in our case, it controls the temperature in your espresso machine! https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/blog/2018/10/01/whats-a-pid/ What is a PID controller?https://capecoffeebeans.co.za/products/pid-temperature-control-retrofit-kit-for-rancilio-silvia PID stands for proportional–integral–derivative and PID controllers are basically more sophisticated versions of thermostats. Rather than simply switching the heating element on and off when certain thresholds are reached, PID controllers can understand the trajectory of the temperature, and apply finer control to when the heating element goes on. The upshot is simple - the temperature can be maintained in a much narrower range, and more precise temperature control means better, more consistent espresso!
  12. Is that a 26'er with bar ends and 80mm travel?
  13. That will make for a very nice set-up. Depending on your taste or level of coffee geek, it might last you a while or you might outgrow it and start going down the rabbit hole (like we do with our bikes, accessories and kit)
  14. As much as I love the ritual of making a coffee, I do sometimes wish for the ease of bean to cup machine.
  15. So, these puppies followed me home yesterday (It means that I can not afford BikeHub Plus now)
  16. Yep, don't stuff around. Get the Rocket R58 with dual boiler, PID controller and rotary pump (plumbed in of course). https://capecoffeebeans.co.za/collections/rocket-espresso-milano/products/rocket-r58-espresso-machine
  17. No, that's not the minimum, but it's a lot more than just the foot in the door if you consider the big steps in price from there up. If you were looking least possible spend, you would be looking at Mellerware, De Longhi or Breville: https://www.home.co.za/plp/kitchen/coffee-tea/coffee-machines/manual-machines/_/N-1tukvu8 The Porlex is nice - better than a cheap electric grinder.
  18. Didn't you try and close it so that you didn't have to share it with The Savages ?
  19. https://capecoffeebeans.co.za/collections/rancilio/products/rancilio-home-espresso-bundle?variant=664493850628 This is one of many options @ R16 200: (It's what I have, so my opinion is biased)
  20. Plenty of surfers at Muizenberg (such a beautiful morning) and the cops were pulling into the carpark as we were leaving - I hope there isn't a confrontation or showdown
  21. If you are willing to put some time, effort and money into the new saddle choice, perhaps consider saddle pressure mapping. I did that recently and discovered that the saddle that I was convinced was correct for me, was indeed not. Width was OK, but I need a cutout so that I can rotate my hips slightly further forward without the pressure where I don't want it. It resulted in an expensive saddle, but I am much more comfortable now with very different posture on the bike. It's no coincidence that the pressure mapping tool and brand of saddle are the same and it was amazing that the brand of saddle that came with the bike (similar width with a cut-out) was unsuitable. I think I ingested a bit of Kool-Aid in the process... Sarcasm aside, the pressure mapping was very interesting. https://gebiomized.de/en/products/measurement/
  22. My wife would bliksem me if |I spent more on my bike than hers Whatever you do, make sure that the fork has an air spring (not elastomer) Oh, and do not buy a bike that might be the wrong size because it seems like a good deal
  23. Does anyone have experience with these - specifically on road tubeless ? And how do they compare to the Dynaplug system ? (I know that its different because of the reaction with Stan's sealant)
  24. splat
