  1. I will continue riding with mates as normal . Also taking the opportunity of getting my 13 year old son a bit fitter over the holidays - mountain biking a school sport and he hasn't been on his bike since July last year. He loved all the snake trails into Vasbyt etc on the weekend and reckons that he wants to get up to the Blockhouse before the next term starts.
  2. They all have their own pro's and con's depending on what time you ride either way. The Liesbeek section is pretty good, but the cycle lane is a joke at the best of times - don't think its a safe haven for bikes. Be careful of the bike lane from the Church Street bridge into Town. its not long, but can feel very isolated. Woodstock Main Rd can be a taxi drag race with busses as obstacles - but at least the road is quite wide. Heading into Town along the mountain is the longest and hardest, but certainly the prettiest and least stressful. Its lovely to be up there and look down at the traffic. Safety shouldn't be a hassle (fingers crossed) if you are reasonable early in the morning and not too late in the afternoon of evening.
  3. Sounds like he is trying to make up for lost opportunity
  4. What was their reaction to Pivot bikes ? Weren't they one of the first with Super Boost frames ?
  5. Mine came through this morning after manually submitting mine on Tuesday
  6. The Fappening
  7. That on my list for this year
  8. I'll second that - will definitely buy more when available in Cape Town again.
  9. When you're so tired, you have to give your eye CPR
  10. Because N+1 I don't need one, but have trouble differentiating between 'need' and 'want'.
  11. With luck, my wife wouldn't notice Like getting a new bike: You're good, as long as it's the same colour Doesn't seem to be available here yet (just as well... )
  12. The more I watch, the funnier it gets. I mean, he really gets some air!
  13. I have had a nightmare of an experience with American Classics and Giant Gavia tyres last year - but they saved me yesterday when the puncture self sealed and I was able to continue without putting in a tube (after the N2 turn-off). I wasn't in the running for a sub-3, but had a good day out regardless. Having said that, I really struggled with getting any tyres on and off the American Classics. GP4000's were OK, but the Gavias were terrible. And then I slashed about 4 tyres last year - very messy and expensive (including R150 Uber trips). I cannot wait to get new wheels (maybe Mavic Ksyrium), but am not sure if I will stick with tubeless or go back to a 'conventional' setup.
  14. Looks like fun. Also Cobie Smulders
  15. I am enjoying my Rancilio set up (Silvia & Rocky), but am already looking up the ladder at a Heat Exchange machine. This waiting for the boiler to generate a decent head of steam is for the birds. I am far too impatient! But it does make a good cup of coffee

  17. Any cage that hold onto a bottle well, will scratch it over time because friction. But that's a trade that I am willing to make These two have served me well over the years: Specialized Zee Lezyne Flow
  18. Would love to try on a pair, but Paarl isn't exactly 'just down the road'. (Ordered Sidis online and they were too small - ended up going to the ASG to swap them, but didn't have my size. Got a refund, but was a PITA)
  19. Was going to suggest Easybike Sportsmans etc's prices are silly!
  20. Claremont has Cycle Teknix, 2 x Olympic Cycles and FreeWheel Cycology. I haven't ever used Cycle Teknix, but am happy with the work that the guys at Freewheel have done on my road and MTB's over the last year or two.
  21. Ibis just updated the carbon Ripmo to bring it in line with the AF . Its that good.
  22. They haven't been crushed yet, so its all good
  23. That's a bit like marriage
