  1. Edit: yea thats a decent price for that, its better than the hordes of entry level RS junk floating around for the same price. I tend to be odd susp brand averse too purely because you can walk into any decent bikeshop and get a fox or RS serviced without worrying about them having parts. But i still look at the others like DVO, Öhlins or the Mani’s. If the market for enduro bikes is considered small in CT, its has to be bordeline non existant in GP. It surely doesn't help. Pair that with what i assume is the Trek you are referring and the the fact that it’s a fringe size (XL). its a hard sell even though it is an excellent bike. I basically bagged my xl Cotic rocket for just slightly more than that, considering you cant just walk into any shop and get one (which always helps push you to buy something you don't really need i guess haha) enduro bikes are n+1 toys.
  2. Again, id place him above the average bloemendal regular😅. Ive seen people on R150k xc bikes walk ‘down’ the bottom rhino. He’s not that guy. This man can bunny hop n bike properly and he’s pretty fast don’t a trail. He undersells himself because he’s probably too humble ☺️ Soon i’ll be the shittest rider in their group too, if i’m not already that is🤣
  3. Lies. All those free kms! What you meant to say was second bike = SS road bike…dirt cheap to maintain, build legs like Nguni cow ps: also @440MTB, the average enduro bike weighs 16kg’s easy haha. what you lose in distance you make up in having to slog a lead bicycle to the top of Rhino 1 or armageddon 6🤣
  4. Get out of my head. Also, been there got the plastic surgery haha. Preach! but ive ridden with @440MTB and he has skills fosho. I’d go as far to say he under sells his skills lol. But yes @440MTB, they do make you go a lot faster, because all that travel just deletes the features. ESPECIALLY coils. You notice it more on chunky trails. They are also alot more difficult to get off the ground because of all the travel/their weight. You wont bunny hop a mattress like you do that bike of yours. Well it will take a lot more effort. When I ride my 140mm hardtail and even try to get near where I go with my big bike, it feels like im going double the speed. Thats also why i enjoy riding it so much, you dont have to do dumb things to feel that buzz (no pun intended lol) on a hardtail. You make a call though, if your current frame is boost and everything you are currently upgrading can be transferred to a new frame down the road….then why not? You WILL get upgradetitus… also…140mm both sides is the sweetspot for CT in my opinion. if my bike wasnt an xl i would let you have a go on it…but as it already feels lazy to me due to its length…it will feel like an interlink truck to you.
  5. I’ll admit i was sceptic too, but my wife and sister use Shein / buffalo. Super efficient. Also, Most everything you wear is ‘cheap chinese k@k’ these days. Buy it just without a branded label sewn in the collar and for less than half - im down with that, especially for kids clothing. And these lot mustn’t come with local blah blah, yes some of the clothing is locally made but literally only a drop in the ocean of stuff out there. They all bring in product and put truworths, markhams, mr price, labels on it. also, just brought in another cycling order from the UK. If local is more expensive than oversees full retail + VAT + UPS/DHL shipping….local can suck a bag of d1cks imo. And then sone of them cant even get your stuff to you within 3 days from the GP to WC when you can order something half a planet away and land it in front of your door in 2 days🤷🏻‍♂️
  6. Ive said it many times, i don't ride events for bragging rights. I dont care about racing licences, CSA, PPA and any of that bs. All i know about CSA is that they make me pay extra for events, and then when i get there, there is literally no mention, sight of them. So in my eyes at least….they are like the ANC. You choose what that means to you… I know full well ill never place higher than mid pack. I join these things for the fun, vibe and to ride a route I cant (read choose not to for safety reasons) do alone. Most of these so called associations offer no value to n plonker like me. I dont partake in an event once or twice a month so a current membership and the marketed benefits are useless to me….and most people like me.
  7. Lol only 15?. sell it, you wont miss it. It will feel wooden after riding s coil for a week. I also got me a coil a few weeks ago. fox DHX. I Up/downgraded from a Fox Factory X2 (how ever you want to look at it lol). And i can honestly say it transformed my bike for the way I ride it. i really feel that for larger folk (90kg+), having to run an airshock at its upper limits ito psi doesnt make for nice riding bikes in the rear at least. My X2 on my bike just always felt too progressive, pogo’ey. Im not too sendy…and just plow through things most of the time due to lack if skill ☺️. The coil literally just deletes rocks from the trail. Magic carpet ride…🎶a whole new world!🎶 Haha im lucky my frame geo with the single pivot means it climbs pretty good with almost no bob even without locking the shock out, but even if it did…the extra half kilo it adds is totally worth it. Since it went on an enduro bike i just paired it with a 30T chainring too. Not like you ever use 30/10T going down a trail.
  8. Nice trails. Yes, the mud made it slightly more difficult but overall fun day out with good company. Ive been told this by someone before and I have to agree, some of the ‘easiest’ climbing trails. You almost don’t even notice how fast you go up. What we enjoyed the most was the fact that we’ve never ridden there before and so the ‘not knowing where you are at any point’ added to the adventure and fun. also, i know this was a XC event, but guys…there is such a thing as wrong tire for conditions 😅. Weight isnt always everything haha. A racing ralph, ardent race and rekon does not a good slop tire make😊 a few people with caked up tires sliding along…especially on the downs where i can imagine how dodge some of those new sections had to feel with the exposure element if you had no traction. leka!
  9. I was honestly hoping you were just going to put me in my place and say something logical like you had to reverse the fork to make it fit the bike-rack or sonething. Now i’m just intrigued, who is this friend? why are you their friend? WHY didnt you see this while putting the bike on the rack? so many questions🥹
  10. Weeeeeelll, technically the head angle stays the same, but the fork offset/ trail is changing for sure😜
  11. If I may…. WHAT the F$&k….is happening here??😅
  12. Bummed i cant be there
  13. They really should just gooi that last 5km along the tar road if it is that wet again….for all your sakes. That mud wrestling wasn't fun at all…I pretty much had a sense of humor failure around that point😅
  14. Maybe a wetsuit too?
  15. decisions though…do you get peasant level GX transmission or ‘old outdated’ XX1 AXS for the same moneys? 😅
  16. If you are willing to drive into a place like Crossroads or some other obviously dodge place in the hope of scoring a too good to be true deal….then you are either the most gullible fool in SA or you probably deserve whatever is waiting in the bushes. My kid’s nanny lives in Crossroads. We bought her and her family a new fridge last year and Tafelberg flatout refused to go deliver it there even though we paid for delivery. They eventually subbed it out to some private guy, who organised a police escort from their local station🤣
  17. Madness. Goodluck🤘
  18. OP, just incase - i’m sorry but this can be described as bad advice, as neither of these will work in a 26.4 frame. contact Nils at Woodstock Cycle works in Cape Town. They had a 27mm one and a few other options back when i was looking, and for reference, a 27.2 didn't even fit in a 27mm frame. Close enough does not = fine….an unfortunate reality of older frames.
  19. You just ride in front, we’ll follow in your sloppy seconds😇
  20. Well you could have paid 30k for a Fox fork with gooooooooooooold stantions to come over greased in the negative chamber and feel like sh!t straight from the factory lol. The Fox coolaid is the best flavour !
  21. Mine enjoys coming along to revel in my suffering. She even laughs at me when i fall myself into hospital…then tell the nurses and doctors to not take it too easy because i probably deserved it for doing something stupid in the first place. Im not sure if she really loves me…but at least i know she thinks im funny right? It’s not much but it’s something 😜
  22. You know what i meant! Stop trying to be a wiseass all the time😅. it wasn't necessarily referring to the US. It just happened to be in the universal currency ($). If it read £800 instead we would know that included 20 odd % lol Whichever way you look at it…it costs 60% more here than the RRP of $1000/1000€/1000moneys
