  1. Marathon bike = Niner Air 9 or EMD 9. You won't be sorry.
  2. Ah, the Eagles... Then I could stop halfway at Hotel California for a glass of wine. Oh, actually they haven't had that spirit there since 1969.
  3. So, my very first time on a road bike today. I must be getting soft. I'm a little ashamed to say that I enjoyed it. My second road ride is tomorrow - Jacaranda Sattelite thingy. It's like 342km or something. So if you guys spot some hairy legs on an ageing Merida give me a push won't you?
  4. Cycle up really silently and scream "AFTERNOON!" just as you draw level. Friendly and entertaining as hell.
  5. How much would someone have to pay you to drink a bottle of Spruit water?
  6. So I was on the Spruit this morning again. It seems there was a decent bit of rain upstream and our little stream has swollen to a mighty river (sort of). It has overflown it's banks in a couple of places and was especially boistrous along the William Nicol section. In many places the water was big enough to paddle down (not recommended). Now generally I would think that cycling alongside a river in flood would be quite a good experience. Not so much... The noxious gases emanating from the water were sufficiently pungent to anaesthetise a small cow (my girlfriend was with me and she passed out with one sniff). All manner of floating debris was to be seen. I could have sworn that I saw 3 dead bodies, an ostrich carcass and a burnt out car floating along. If I had fallen in I'm sure that the waters would have dissolved my flesh like sulphuric acid. All in all, the Spruit should flow through Mordor not Jozi.
  7. She tried to hit him with her bike! That's some funny ****! She needs a klap though. Shotgun not marrying her, far too slow through the singletrack.
  8. Oh my god. I had a good 10 minute chat with him while waiting for my mate at the summit. He came over to chat while I was sitting on a rock. We were talking bikes. He confessed to being a SRAM man and was telling me about a new build he had planned. Seemed a great guy. Rest in peace Mark, it was nice to have met you.
  9. Was Mark riding breedt's on saturday morning? I think I may have met him on the top. Can't be sure but the photos look familiar.
  10. Pretty similar. SRAM looks cooler.
  11. Morningside Cycles is definitely the best in terms of service and price in the area.
  12. Would look great parked outside a Vida Café. But would you want to get it dirty? Not my vibe, besides: the wheels are too small.
  13. Buy now at the special introductory price of 1 million dollars.
  14. Tried it. They got back to me pretty quickly but the quoted prices were terrible...
  15. Thanks Crasher. She rides like an absolute dream, stiff, lightning fast, crazy traction. It was worth every cent spent.
  16. I have ruled out wearing a meat dress like Lady Gaga's as a solution to the problem. Back to the drawing board.
  17. Thanks everyone! I'm really chuffed with the way it turned out. Santa, yeah Colin sorted me out at a great price and put it together.
  18. MBP - Thanks, problem solved. I realise now that the title may have been misleading. She is not half woman, half dog although she does speak with a german accent. Tazer man: ride up and down the Spruit really fast, she will find you.
  19. I had my second run-in with her yesterday at Emmarentia Dam. The 1st incident was at the bottom of Delta Park last week. She has 3 huge Alsations which work themselves into a frenzy and chase joggers, cyclists, children and anything else that dares to move in their presence. They don't actually rip you into pieces when they catch you but this is certainly the image that flashes through your mind. I have explained to her that her hounds need to be on leashes but she has a tendency to reply in sign language with her middle finger. Anyone else have a similar experience?
  20. Thanks man!
  21. Finished at last:
  22. Around 11kg pedals and all. The tyres are hefty and used a decent amount of sealant also. Will put some Racing Ralphs on come racing time to lighten it a bit. Also could swap out post, stem for carbon but I'm not sure that I want to.
  23. Rabies shots for you buddy - Weekly shot that hurts like ****. But the alternative is Rabies = death.
  24.
