  1. ja maybe. Was a bit dissapointed at the turnout. WOuld have loved some more bikes there. Also wanted to test the volcan ht, but it was only on show. Nice frame though
  2. Commencial 4: Damn fine ride. If I have to go dual and I don't want a pure racing dual suspension this will be the bike for me. Awesome rear suspension. Volcan FS 2: Much more of a racing geometry, so bit more stiff on suspension system. For something more similar to my ht this would be it. Took a Mongoose Canaan while waiting for GT Marathon and hated the setup. Felt like I was riding a cruiser bike. Thing is, the mongoose had the best overall handling. IT took the best corners of all the bikes, or was it the Kenda SB8? Scalpel 3 was fine. Not too bad. Would have liked to ride a more top end lefty. It's difficult to compare all the bikes. Different setups. Different tyres. Tyre pressure and some reps aren't as interessted in converting someone. Had a good chat with guys at commencial and Volcan. Other guys treated me as though I was just there to ride a bike.
  3. I feel your pain, but... I've bought cervelo bibs from ebay for R200 just to see if they're any good. The padding is fine, but way to big and rubs on my thighs and very tight around my stomach, but at that price what can you expect. Same for your purchase. One of those kits should set you back around R2000 for good quality and at that price what did you expect? I won't even buy bibs at that price anymore. Shirts I'll maybe buy cheap again. So I wouldn't rant about the quality. (Goedkoop koop is duur koop) As for the rest of your rant, that's another story
  4. Gman, how late you wanna leave? I'm still kinda sick, but may be up for the ride. You can give me your number and I'll let you know tonight.
  5. Actually it all depends on your training goals and on that spesific ride goal. As L2Climb says,it's possible to do the ride without eating anything if you'd like. This would work for a normal slow ride, but you'll be losing some muscle in the process. If your ride will be hills/intervals/temp, then you should eat something before hand as you'll need the readily available carbs in your body. Include some protein as well, because you'll need it to build some muscle. This could be oats with milk and the raisens. A peanut butter sandwich also helps. Don't try to get carbs from sugary cereals. Stay with oats, allbran, muesli etc. Also, if you've got a weak stomach stay away from too much fibre, like fibre high(stokkies pap) As for your timeline. One hour should be fine. I usually eat 30min before I go, otherwise I get hungry.
  6. Why not a bike from Ha Ha Kieran. Those Bottecchia's
  7. Ja probably, although the white colour may look porno on some euro frames
  8. what about microshift
  9. There is a thread about this. "Going 2x9" Your gearing depends on the terain. For gauteng conditions I'm loving my 29-42 with 11-34 at the rear. Could even ride 11-32
  10. Think it will look awesome. Don't know about practicality.
  11. Also saw a guy riding alone on the N4(Coming from rustenburg side towards pta) on Sunday. There's a right and there's a wrong. Wrong can never be right
  12. Looks awesome in my opinion My cervelo Scroll down to pic of mine. Since then I've changed to a white saddle. Looks even more awesome and when it comes to riding - Well, it's campy. nuff said
  13. Was thinking what the hell is going on. I suppose you've got answer now. Four guys with the same posts
  14. Usually the top pulley is just a bushing with a bit of sideways play for better chainline or whatever. The bottom one may have a bearing of some kind. On my campag record derailleur both is the same though. As long as the pulleys is the same size then you should be able to change between road and mtb.
  15. That's usually my route as well. Don't know my weekend plans yet, but if I'm free I'll be able to do sunday. Saterday is ride before buy at groenkloof.
  16. mmm, I might be keen on Sunday morning. What route you wanna ride?
  17. Was thinking that this would be much easier should you want to do one legged training. Guys who did the review said that they could only do about 15min the first time, but it's good to eliminate weekness in your stroke and should provide for monster hamstrings
  18. As per previous discussions, club roag is not valid in gauteng. It sucks, I know, but you have to pay the R75 to join another club.
  19. You can mix groupsets and won't get a drop in performance. All that changes is that you'll be paying less money as campy is expensive. One thing to note is that sram and shimano use the same freebody, while campag uses their own.
  20. You might enjoy this under technology. Each crankarm works with an independent clutch, so you can't pull with your dominant leg to help with the downstroke of the other leg. This is purely for training as it improves your pedal stroke.
  21. more
  22. I just joined cgc(central gauteng cycling), but later found out there is also gnc(gauteng north cycling) Doesn't matter though, as I have nothing to do with them. For hassle free experience go with cgc and contact raeleen stone at: raeleen (at) cgcycling (dot) co (dot) za zero one one four six vife nine six three five She is very helpfull
  23. This should always help:
  24. Luckily my roadie machine sleeps next to my bed and with the new white bar tape and white selle italia slr, it's all the motivation I need
  25. work those hamstrings and rather "pull" the pedal.
