  1. So how do you know which is which
  2. It is confusing. Seems to me like semi integrated is almost the same as threadless and that they just call the components different names. Integrated doesn't have any bearing cups and the bearings sits in the headtube
  3. Thinking of buying this eddie merckx columbus for R1000. Has shimano exage brakes and 105 components and suntour supebe Pro cranks. Seems to be late '70s or early '80s. What do you guys think? Will I be able to do something with it? In the end I want to ride the bike and not display. Maybe some training or around town.
  4. Sorry, meant to say threadless vs. integrated/semi-integrated Don't know how the threaded got there.
  5. Is this spesific to your frame, or can a frame take both types?
  6. No image attached. Try again. As for bike sizing, it depends on your inseem and some other factors, but you should be able to ride a 52cm bike. You can even modify and ride a 54cm. I'm 1.69 and ride a 51cm
  7. How you gonna keep the chain tension
  8. You also get those hubs with a cog on each side. Then you flip the wheel around, but it wouldn't work with disk brakes. If you go the derailleur way, get a 8sp road derailleur or something. They're more compact
  9. thehub gives
  10. They quote the local retail, but I'll counter with crc. Free market
  11. Only the sexiest bike ever
  12. I know you've seen these weird "wire" bikes, but how aerodynamic are they?
  13. Brake on the fixie
  14. Probably not for this thread, but maybe passion for harry potter or something
  15. Need some clearance on that downhill?
  16. Selle Italia 1.25kg 30000$ gold saddle
  17. Found some nice stuff: Here's a gearsystem from shimano working with compressed air and not cables
  18. good xt/xtr mix just make sure you get the correct fd clamp Only thing out of place would be the truvativ handlebar which is sram, but that's only if you'd worry about something like that
  19. ja maybe. Was a bit dissapointed at the turnout. WOuld have loved some more bikes there. Also wanted to test the volcan ht, but it was only on show. Nice frame though
  20. Commencial 4: Damn fine ride. If I have to go dual and I don't want a pure racing dual suspension this will be the bike for me. Awesome rear suspension. Volcan FS 2: Much more of a racing geometry, so bit more stiff on suspension system. For something more similar to my ht this would be it. Took a Mongoose Canaan while waiting for GT Marathon and hated the setup. Felt like I was riding a cruiser bike. Thing is, the mongoose had the best overall handling. IT took the best corners of all the bikes, or was it the Kenda SB8? Scalpel 3 was fine. Not too bad. Would have liked to ride a more top end lefty. It's difficult to compare all the bikes. Different setups. Different tyres. Tyre pressure and some reps aren't as interessted in converting someone. Had a good chat with guys at commencial and Volcan. Other guys treated me as though I was just there to ride a bike.
  21. I feel your pain, but... I've bought cervelo bibs from ebay for R200 just to see if they're any good. The padding is fine, but way to big and rubs on my thighs and very tight around my stomach, but at that price what can you expect. Same for your purchase. One of those kits should set you back around R2000 for good quality and at that price what did you expect? I won't even buy bibs at that price anymore. Shirts I'll maybe buy cheap again. So I wouldn't rant about the quality. (Goedkoop koop is duur koop) As for the rest of your rant, that's another story
  22. Gman, how late you wanna leave? I'm still kinda sick, but may be up for the ride. You can give me your number and I'll let you know tonight.
  23. Actually it all depends on your training goals and on that spesific ride goal. As L2Climb says,it's possible to do the ride without eating anything if you'd like. This would work for a normal slow ride, but you'll be losing some muscle in the process. If your ride will be hills/intervals/temp, then you should eat something before hand as you'll need the readily available carbs in your body. Include some protein as well, because you'll need it to build some muscle. This could be oats with milk and the raisens. A peanut butter sandwich also helps. Don't try to get carbs from sugary cereals. Stay with oats, allbran, muesli etc. Also, if you've got a weak stomach stay away from too much fibre, like fibre high(stokkies pap) As for your timeline. One hour should be fine. I usually eat 30min before I go, otherwise I get hungry.
  24. Why not a bike from Ha Ha Kieran. Those Bottecchia's
