  1. HAve a look on ebay. I've found them to be one of the best suppliers of bike bling.
  2. Getting my first set of tubbies and got some questions. This may be a shimano-sram-campag(which is best) type of question, but which do you guys prefer: The tape or glue. It seems like the tape is much easier to install, but what if you get a flat during a race/ride? What type of tubular tyre is best for use as a spare, ie which would install the easiest and quickest during a race?
  3. Don't suppose this is my blackburn delphi 5.
  4. Races are expensive Inusc. Don't know this race, but when I enter a race I don't expect any freebies. It's nice to get them though. If they promises singletrack and there weren't any, then that's something to complain for sure. That's why I enjoy Babbas Lodge mtb race every month. For R100 you get a medal, juice, banana and t-shirt. That's value for money.
  5. Not an expert, but it depends on the terain and weather. If it's a hilly race, then lower profile. For flat courses, go deep section. With heavy side winds, you don't really want deep section. Dont think your weight has anything to do with it.
  6. Nice bike. I would shorten the brake hoses
  7. Other costs is new gear housings and cables and if you're really unlucky new brake housings
  8. Have you considered his diet/supplements
  9. Couldn't choose one, but: Great Specials on bike items Technical Support Learn more about cycling Make friends (cycling buddies) Exchange ideas When I'm bored, it's better than TheSun
  10. That's not kinda cool. It's awesome. Why is he wearing a RS200? Triathlete perhaps
  11. I'd dig a fixie, but it depends on where you live. If I lived near the waterfront in cape town, it would be nice to take a ride down the street for a coffee at the waterfront or take a ride to clifton or so. Even stellenbosch would be a great place for a ride, but up here in gauteng it doesn't make sense. I'll get one for training though
  12. Jaku, what route do you ride? I'm from Irene and want to commute to sunninghill on some days.
  13. First two questions you need to figure out for yourself, but the road to sandton isn't too dangerous. Where in midrand and where in sandton?
  14. Since no-one answer, let's start a thread: 1. Gear cables replaced 2. Gear cable housings replaced 3. Brake pads checked 4. Brakes bled 5. BB serviced 6. Wheel hubs serviced 7. Headset bearings checked 8. Frame checked for cracks 9. Rear Derailleur pullies opened and cleaned 10. Check chain wear 11. Seatpost removed and cleaned 12. Pedals serviced (If possible) 13. Fork serviced Ongoing: Threads greased. Parts cleaned
  15. Mampara, I've actually been looking for clip-on bars for the mtb. On a flat race they would work nicely. Greenhorn, I run bar-ends on a very narrow bar with gripshifts.
  16. I loved my Kenda Nevegals, especially when fun riding in Stellenbosch. But now I'm racing and not only fun riding anymore, so went for some lighter tyres. (Maxis crossmark, conti race king, schwalbe racing rocket ron etc) I rode Kenda SB8 this weekend and they are really nice. Very good grip on the corners and roles nicely
  17. my bad
  18. You showed us a bike.
  19. I would rather think the choice is between wider bars without ends or shorter bar with bar-ends. I changed from wide bar with bar ends to only wide bar. Then to narrow bar without bar ends, and now to narrow bar with bar ends. Big problem with wide bar and bar ends is the clearance when you're riding singletrack through trees
  20. For roadies, this season is all about the white. For mtbers, this era is all about the combo. Why does no one ride kenda?
  21. Barometric
  22. Don't steal my weight saving ideas:(
  23. Is this thread serious? (Just came back from the gym, so still a bit dizzy.)
  24. MTB's are normally sized in inches, like 16",18" etc I'd suggest going with the smaller size. You'll have more control over the bike.
  25. cool thanks
