  1. ZIPPO, a relaxing ride is always good, but give yourself some time to rest as well, if you gonna ride every day this week, maybe a rest day is not such a bad idea.
  2. Eers koffie met beskutjie en dan teen vanmiddag die popcorn
  3. So flippen cool.
  4. Johan, care to tell us what you thing are good wheels, I'm very interested to know, especially since one is so prone to go for what looks good and what sounds like a reputable company. I would really like to hear your input, on both MTB wheels and road wheels.
  5. Lance is going to do it on his own, one leg for each bike, just to make it fair.
  6. Any reason why this has happened Matchstix?
  7. I know in Cape Town there are 3 guys selling Rocky Mountain, but I'm not sure what that means once you actually need support. I know the agents are, or should I say use to be, in George, does it mean they lost it or wasn't interested any more? Matchstix, do you know anything about this?
  8. Just want to know what sort of gear ratio one can get on these.
  9. O love the way us Hubbers pour cold water on a topic, sooooo funny.
  10. Well, ig you look at the mud at the 9-5 event and then again at the weekends MTB Challenge, it is quite risky, think maybe a bit to much organizing to do and if it rains, nobody pitch.
  11. Well done Cassie, this is so awesome, it is quite amazing that one cannot get a manufactured version of this anywhere, it just seems so simple. If you do make something more more permanent, I will be firts in line toe get one from you. Well done!
  12. My wife also participated in the 15km, first mtb race for her as well, she also mentioned how rude the people were. Quite scary. I did the 30k with friends of mine, didn't want to do the muddy thing, starter in the last group of D, even there, with nothing to win, the people were so hung up, really, if you are past halway, still at the back with the D bunch and the want to push and shove, nee wat, ai ai , really sad.
  13. U're a good man Cassie
  14. Ooooo mampara, good one, for the record, I'm not a roadie and do not mind getting dirty at all, just don't want to spend the ching afterwards to get everything fixed. Did the whole Spray n Cook thing way back, does it help?
  15. What a bout a quickrelease skewer going through the coke bottle onto the back wheel and fixing it to the chainstay to protect the rear derailure.
  16. Customizing your Specialized Epic for mud. July 20th, 2009 by Conrad Stoltz Caveman style, of course! Problem: The sticky Vermont mud clogged up my Specialized Epic?s rear triangle. The sticky tires then picked up dead leaves and really stuffed it tightly between wheel and frame. This was taken in training 2 days before the race. http://www.conradstoltz.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/18.jpg Caveman solution: Take a 1 liter water bottle, cut it to bits and zip tie it to the frame. It fills the space and helps the mud slide off the bike. I sprayed WD 40 (or cooking oil) on the plastic and frame to stop the mud from sticking. I dont know of anyone whos made this cool mud guard before. See, I didnt need University math to become an engineer! http://www.conradstoltz.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/32.jpg http://www.conradstoltz.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/43.jpg
  17. One question, I see you have tapered handlebars. Any "bright" ideas on how to avoid it slipping down once you hit the rocky downhill parts? Great, great light, WELL DONE!
  18. Well, reading this now it makes sence what you are saying, and I agree, from my side the fact is still that I was actually there and got good service. So I merely wanted to support the "poster" of this thread.
  19. I can vouch for that. Had my brakes bled yesterday as well as new brake pads, was a very very nice experience. They will certainly see me again! scuzzy2009-07-29 04:49:54
  20. Good day guys & gals I was thinking this morning if there is any value in entertaining setting up some kind of a formal riding group in the Cape Town, Northern suburbs. Something where we can send out a mail on a Thursday/Friday about weekend rides, or maybe meet up before weekend races, or even cater for both. Don't know about you guys, but I cycle alone a lot and it's kind of getting boring and it will be really nice to get all the lone rangers together and start doing these things, maybe it's a bit more difficult with MTB, seeing that we are looking for dirt, but we can look into it, and it will also give the opportunity to learn new routes. I anybody would consider this, maybe just add to this post. Happy weekend riding
  21. I don't know what happened, but I know that David George pulled out before stage 6, so Kevin Evans rode by himself.
  22. I agree with the Energade and Game theory, also interested to hear why Energade and Powerade aren't recommended for pro athletes. My only problem is the taste, it is just so sweet, fine for a shortish ride, but man, after 2 hours of the sweet stuff it gets hectic. I used Gu for quite a while, nice subtle taste. Actually want to get Cadence, I use the recovery drink and a few people said that it is quite good, all sales people though.
  23. Will it really not be replaced because of the sprayjob? Does that count for all the bicycles that's been sprayed?
