  1. I think for a corporate environment it is much better, will hate to think how you use the old one on letterheads etc, and dare I say it, when you send a fax. I like it
  2. Ok, fair enough!!!, The tougher question does make the argument different, but the you should't have added the price per kilometer I haven't done either, but for some weird reason it feels that the Pioneer is tougher, not sure why, if I read what the guys say and the comments on the blogs and twitter etc, it sounds like the Cape Pioneer might be tougher. But then again, only a fool can really say that the Epic is "easy" I mean, if you listened to the guys speak after the stage to Worcester last year, I mean, that sounded really tough and the 147km Stage 3 in 2012 sounds like murder, but like Sauser said last night on SuperCycling, it all depends on the surface, if it is rocky and sandy, then sure, it'll be a nightmare to say the least, but if it is open gravel roads, then it is a completely different animal. Anybody out there that did both?
  3. Can we compare cars in that way to, cost per kilometer, then we will al be driving VW Golfies
  4. Wich medal is the biggest?
  5. Did anybody see this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OAEezv4oUg&feature=watch_response
  6. Speak to Dianie at Ladyride
  7. Have you tried the skate board route, easier to bail when something goes wrong
  8. I also had very good service from the online shop, ordered soemthing there, got it the next morning by 9. Much better than to try and explanin to Due South or Cape Union Mart what you want first and then wait for ages to get it.
  9. Is it for corporate type kit, branded?
  10. Credit to @leroc for not dissapearing when everyone started nailing him
  11. The instore prices and the website prices are apparently the same
  12. On the other hand, if you could only get some lube and delivery, we're talking about like R150 here. I think if you were nice about it they might even have thrown in something for free. But reading what the guys from CWC usualy say on TheHub, I am surprised at how this is panning out.
  13. I would like to know if it was just sort of bad luck timing or if the buck actualle "attacked" the cyclist, cause it sure looks that way. This is the movie clip description on youtube Mountain Biker, Evan van der Spuy of Team Jeep South Africa got taken out by a RED HARTEBEES at amountain bike race at Albert Falls Dam. Check out this crazy footage which was taken by team mate Travis Walker on his GoPro Camera - The BUCK sure does STOP HERE with Evan van der Spuy aka #BUCKNORRIS Could we rent that buck for Bryce
  14. I've got a friend who has been struggling with his knee for the last 10/11 weeks. Did loads of cycling before, ran the Knysna Half, got back on the bike and it was sore. Went to physio, she could't help, went to well known knee docter, he gave a cortozone injection, nothing changed, he went for a MRI, didn't show anything, now he is stuck, he is trying to find another docter to go and see for second opinion. He has given the knee loads of rest and as soon as he feels anything hurting he turns around and stop cycling, well, that happens after the second corner leaving home, so if anybody knows about a good "knee docter" in Cape Town, please let me know.
  15. This is awesome!!!!
  16. @twiga: I agree with you @cptmayhem: you are right, I think if one does have Dstv one can surely make that argument I think the reason why it is "shocking" is that one decides to do things outdoors, ie, not go to gym, not sit in front of the TV and you would imagine that it would be cheap, but when you start adding it up, it just sort of make you sit up and take notice. I mean yeah, for sure, these things needs to be maintained and for that you have to pay, but, it still amounts to more that you would imagine when you decide to be outdoors. Add to that the odd race and al the others things we always talk about and golf is starting to sound like a cheap sport
  17. I was thinking today, and this is really not to stir, but with all the world champs going around this time of year, and the RWC as well, what is their worth really, I'll explain: We had the UCI downhill champs, the weather was terrible and aling came this guy called Danny Hart and completely blows the other riders away, a deserved win for that run, but, his results for the rest of the year was not really clos to winning the series, so he comes along with one win and he is now the World Champ, where Aaron Gwin, won almost everything all year round The XC MTB World Champs was probably a fair reflection with Jaroslav Kulhavy killing the field in the last half of the series. Then we had the Road Bike Championships this weekend and if they are going to race for 200 odd kilometers and it comes down to a sprint, why not make it 2km, with a lead out and let the sprinters decide who wears the stripes for the rest of the year. We had the Xterra over the weekend and although The Caveman have been winning everything this year, barring 2 events, he came in 4th, in the USA champs, what if Lance did win this thing, would that be deserved over the other guys? Then we have the RWC, if we want to admit it or not NZ is the best, most consistent team around and yet, they cannot win this darn thing, much like we struggle to with the Cricket Wolrd Cup, but, it is a very big possibility that someone like Wales, Ireland, France, hell, even Samoa could be playing in the RWC final in a month. So, what's your thoghts on this, is that just the way it is, do you think it is kinda unfait, or do we just sit back and enjoy it, cause afterall, it probably doesn't have anything to do with us?
  18. I was there on Saturday! It wasn't as busy as I expected it to be, but what a awesome shop. It really feels like an expo of some sorts. Thay did have some issues with pricing and the system, but everybody was on hand to help and make it as pleasant experience as possible. The scary thing is, listening to the guys, is that it will become better over the next month or so, more stock, more to display, coffee shop, MTB and BMX tracks, it really is something speacial, in my opinion.

    Garmin

@tunariaan, just trying to brainstorm this with you The guys in J'Burg got the watch already? And it is taking them 6 weeks? Surely if they have it and agree that there is some sort of fault on it, they must be able to tell you what they're doing about it, are they repairing it, is that just taking long? I would think that somewhere someone is not doing their job, cause ig averybody experience good service, the something is wrong

    Garmin

@tunariaan, are you dealing with Garmin direct, or did you send it to them via a store, ie Cape Union Mart, Due South, etc? @tankman I think that one doesn't have heart rate, if I am not mistake
  21. I'll be interested in something like that. Will have to think about who to approach though.

    Garmin

So, my Garmin Forerunner finally decided that it has served it's purpose, a suspected "dead" battery made me take it to Garmin, Cape Town. After initially waiting for a while, the confirmed my fears that it is "irreparable", but, they will offer me a new replacement device at a discount. They initially offered met the Forerunner 201, a "watch like" device. My first reaction was that this cannot replace the 305, it doesn't even look the same, but after reading up on it and seeing what the price is for a new one, I changed my mind, however, I though I will take a chance and ask them for a price on the 310XT, much more of an overall training device, got the price at more than 50% less that what I would pay for it. I paid for the order on Monday afternoon, thinking that if I want it by the weekend, I need to get a move on. Yesterday morning I mailed them to make sure that I will have it on Friday, we do live in good old SA you know. The reply was here is the waybill number and telephone number of RAM Couriers, and I can speak to them, I though, here we go. I phoned them and to my surprise they said it is on its way and sure as hell, by 12 yesterday I had my device. SO, next thing was to order the "conversion kit" for cycling and running, I decided to give the Garmin online shop a go, beats trying to find it at any other local shop and dealing with a salesman that doesn't even know what you are talking about. Placed the order at about 2 yesterday afternoon. Package delivered at 8:30 this morning. I am really blown away by this, very good service Garmin SA, thank you.
  23. Morning all I am starting to look at getting a new multisport device, my Forerunner 305 seems like it has served it's purpose now. I started looking around for the Garmin 310XT and came across the new Polar RCX5 which seems really stylish and the reviews look good. Just wanted to know if anybody here has it and if they can give some input regarding this new "watch" or would the 310XT be "The One" Thanks
  24. Jissie, reading all of this I feel for the "ppor" event organizers, shame man, it must be real tough, cause you cannot win, at least we are in the minority comlaining of the 400 teams that rode. I am sure that with the 6th (or is it 7th) TB behind their backs they do everything with a reason, despite what we are saying and complaining about. Just wonder what happened to the money we paif for our permits trhough the Baviaanskloof reserver We will all be back, despite all of this complaining.
  25. We had support through the TB. I do not want to defend the organizers decision to offer this to the first 20 teams because we had the support, but want to share a conversation our team had regarding this and how in influence teams. One of our team mates had to withdraw due to injury, but still decided to go with and support, as it turned out he ended up driving the back up vehicle. He said afterwards that as a MTB’er made driver he had sympathy with the riders, cause it must be difficult for them to climb and then fall over, either because you know there is a car behind you, or because the car in front of you stops suddenly, he also said that there were a few guys who really did drive like idiot, apparently a Nissan Patrol with some young guys doing the support while drinking springs to mind, however, he then said the following. As this is a looooong race it is virtually impossible for the organizers to be able to cover the whole route, either by way of seeing injuries, or getting someone down who cannot continue, that is exactly what happened to our support team, at CP3 there was a guy who couldn’t continue because of his health, so he caught a lift with our support crew, now if there was now support, how he most probably had to wait till right to the end for a sweeper vehicle, that also goes for injuries or break downs along the route. So, although it is quite tough on us riders, with 4x4 on the route, it does makes sense from a logistical point of view.
