I heard from someone who was travelin gin the Baviaaskloof last week that at some place the water came up to the windows of the 4x4. Now yes, obviously one would really love to go through the Kloof, but sjoe, imagine walking through an icecold river, with water coming up to your chest, carrying your bike above your head, in the dark. I think it'll be either changing the route, or cancelling the event.

Jip, it's gonna be interesting, looks like the Bergplaas replacement is quite hectic, it also comes after checkpoint 2, where we usually had another one inbetween.

I am not trying to bad mouth CWC at all here, but when I enquired about RP at ASG, they did spesifically say that if I buy from CWC they will not cover it under theur waranty. Don't know about the behind the scenes politics, but that was said to me in a mail.

I don't think it has anything to do with cyclists if you do not want to give way to a runner, or whatever, it is the person. I bet if you think like that when you are on the bike, you are probably also the oke shouting at cyclists when you yourself use the road, or when someone comes riding up the singletrack when you re going down. This was probably just an accident, in the dark and both parties could be wrong or right, depending on who tells the story. In all honesty whether the cyclist wore a helmet or not, it is stil kind of freaky to think the cyclist ends up in hospital and the runner is fine, especially seeing that this was a securtiy guard and not some pro cyclist hitting the deck at 50km/h.

I think thsi thread has the potential of some fighting. Could I ask politely if and what the difference is between Magicshine and Magiclight. Is it two different companies with different guarentees, are we saying the magicshine is better than the magiclight? If this is a hijack, sorry.

Johan Just on the subject of the gears. I am trying to figure setting it myself out and I am almost there. With the Shimano trigger shifters, is there any way one kan make it "tighter" so that it doesn't go through 2 clicks on it's own?

I agree with the brakes, but all this talk about shifting with XT vs X0? I rode next to a guy in Knysna over the weekend and asked about the grip shofters on his bike, he said that he never has a problem with shifting, like I have with the normal trigger shifters. Is this legit? Would love to know, cause then I am changing

With the Tacx seat clamp, does it not stop you from sitting behind the saddle on some downhills? My problem with the Topeak is I don not have space for a rear light, it gets a bit tricky.

Where did you buy thet, at that price, not to bad. I had a look at the Flea today and not very inspiring at all, cannot sea why anyone would pay that amount of money for that.

Now that is pretty cool, will definately look for that option. Would love to fit something to the seatstays but not sure how. One would have to use some sort of bracket, maybe something used for a clip on saddle bag. I think Tankman's option is quite cool

Thanks guys Maybe the best would be to raise the bottle cage and change the angle of the bottle cage, I've got one of those Topeak clamps that can be adjusted. Any advise on what the best light might be, considering buying the Blackbrun flea as I do feel that there is a difference in what you use, I used to use the Knog, but feeling a little unsafe with only 1 LED behind me, and as Tankman mentioned, it is so important at what angled the motorist sees it.

Hi I am trying to figure out what the best way is to fit a good rear light with my seatpost bottle holder. When I fit it at the moment it becomes a little hidden and don't want to take chances. Anybody here using the same sort of configuration and have any ideas? Thanks

I did have a chat to Hellwarp and he did explain the situation, which I do understand, so not at all trying to pick a fight. Mountain Lion, believe me, if we new we were trespassing we wouldn't ride there, we are not looking for trouble, so see it from that perspective. It's just, everyweher youw ant to ride nowadays you need a permit and it alle adds up for the year, that is all, PPA, Tygeberg MTB Club, Contermans, Jonkerhoek..... you get my drift. Anyway, we'll buy permits and ride, not looking to trespass at all.

We've been riding this for a while, now we need to pay. I think it is pretty much on par with Meerendal, not as if it is the single track haven out there. Not happy that we need to pay now, but yes, it is another option, and another R300 per year to enjoy MTB'ing.

Yes, you probably need the sad story, but just imagine, a shop get 10 mentions at bad service and 10 at good service, I am sure that'll happen.

Maybe there can be a trhead, not sure how one can do it properly, but where you just post your good, bad, grey service, not the whole sad story, just the name, once the shop has 3 mentions against it, it goes up ons a pole, or something like that, that way we'll know. Once one start a thread with the whole story, it just gets ugly. Who knows, maybe the bicycle shops will go there themselves to have a look where they feature and do something about it. Would something like this be possible, is it worth it?

I've got an entry available for the race, won't be able to do the ride. Not quite sure how the substitution work, I did try and phone today, but because of the Epic, the answering machines are on. Hey Guys So I am in the market for a helmet, mainly MTB, but doing a little road as well. Just want to get some input I am looking at one of the following, mainly because that is what I know: Rudy Sterling Bell Volt (not sweep, due to fins at the back breaking) Specialized Propero Specialized S Works ( if it is really that good) Don't know the SH helmet from CWC that well, so cannot consider that. Maybe one of the cheaper Uvex's from Cycle Lab Any input would be much appreciated

I was very lucky, told someone i the office that if they want to enter they need to do it before 12:30, only to realise ze that it was 12:32, took a chance and seneked in before it got blocked. Hope I don't regret it.

I also know that he mentioned on a Twitter message that he was getting ill, same as in GErmany last year Ok, Ok. The new bike is a Trek Speed Concept. Final discussions are only taking place tomorrow, but things are looking good. The official story is that I have no "bike sponsor", but that I will be looked after by Cycle Lab who will provide me with whatever I need. Funnily enough, I was never sponsored by Cervelo either, but by the local distributor. So not much has changed. Seems like last years Germany bug has reared its ugly head once again...fever and muscle ache is no fun. Waiting for doctors report back on blood tests...need to start training again. #IMSAisclose Doctors report indicates a virus, not good news. Rest is the only medicine, which is not ideal prep for IMSA. Managed to get a ride in, wasn't pretty though, feels like starting at square one again. At least I'm up and running, so there's still hopem
