    what was the distance of the race? 90km? Racetec overinflates the ave speed quit a bit with the distance as 98km?

    A R5k Makro bike and R5k shock but then you still have to upgrade the wheels and groupset. Bars stem ect. With this straight steerer. I will rather look at the classifieds here for a nice second hand hardtail if I want to spend R10k from the start. These Makro "Cannondales" will however make nice kids bikes / commuters in my opinion.

    And I was thinking the whole time new bikes / parts became so competitive in price (if you know where to shop ) so people rather pay that small additional premium for new stuff. Guess I was wrong then.
