  1. How long have you had yours? Are the carbon spokes prone to failure like on the R-Sys?
  2. At Carnival race I broke a spoke in my rear wheel. I took my wheel in to them (Fourways branch) just as they were closing. No problem at all and they booked it in. Serviced the rest of my bike on the Tuesday. Went for a test ride over the weekend and it is the best it has been since I got the bike. Gears and brakes felt great and the wheel they repaired was great! Yes, it cost some money but I have had an experience in the past where I needed an urgent service before the Argus and this other shop (not Cycle Lab) was the only one who could fit me in. It was also quite cheap but not good service at all.
  3. The only problem is that us Mountain Bikers always wear black socks on our road bikes so that wouldnt really be seen as making a statement in that direction' date=' this only identifies us as MTBers. [/quote'] Don't worry Spud! MTB'ers are recognised from miles away! Ok, insulation tape could work. I am in!
  4. Can't we make it either black armbands or black socks? Not sure I can get anywhere with work this week to get a black armband. I do however have black socks.
  5. Yip! I think our guys are at the forefront of that Narra!
  6. Officials by their very positions have complete exemption from any and all rules.
  7. Awesome! Great present! Happy Birthday!
  8. That is sad news! Hope the one in hospital recovers quickly.
  9. Good work there Os! The current seeding is a mess up!! There was no problem in 2008 so why "fix it if it ain't broke"? The 2008 and 2009 times were almost identical, in fact the 2009 time was slightly faster than the 2008 and 2007 times! If I remember correctly 2007 was the first time that the extended the route to 110km from about 95km or so. Who makes the decision as to when a race is "too slow"? There is simply not any factual basis whatsoever for deeming that the 2009 time was too slow!!
  10. Eish Mr. Brown! What number child of yours is this one? I have 20!
  11. Sorry to hear! Hope it heals soon!
  12. Hope she recovers soon! Falling at 30kph is better than at 20kph. When the time is right, fix the bike but with so new product or addition as well. Then she will want to ride again. Make it an incentive. Oh, and hope that she doesn't read this thread! Andyr2492010-03-05 08:32:49

    Jailtime

That is good news!! Not really any precedent set because it is Mags Court. And it is just normal Reckless and Negligent driving. Nothing new from a legal point of view.
  14. I suspect that after the beer the only rolling resistance will be the ride going through the pub door.
  15. I got some Gatorskins for free. Went for one ride on them and felt like I was pulling a goods train, or three. Took them off after the ride and put them on my IDT bike. Previously I had used the Bontrager tyres. After the Gatorskins I got the Continental GP Force/Attack set. If I remember correctly from the website they are labled as a racing/training tyre. So light and fast for racing but still with good puncture protection. I am yet to have a puncture from them I have recently put on a new set because the first set got a few cuts and indents which would have caused puncture to other tyres but didn't to mine. First time I used the Attack/Force I could notice a difference. It also has the Black Chilli compound for puncture resistance. Personally I would recommend them.
  16. Which side of the white line was the cr@p??
  17. That is a good time for your first ride there! Now that you know the route you can work out where to push a bit harder and where to save yourself for. Lately I have been doing a bit of MTB'ing and found that I can spin more on my road bike because of it. Of course cadence will still be a bit slower compared to the mtb bike because of the gearing.
  18. Are you finished today's stage if you are posting on the hub already? Or did the fall put you out the race? How is it going?
  19. Mixing the too works for me. SBR is a hard place to ride. You just got to survive as best you can and take each hill as it comes. But I love it there and Indigo Kid and Kieran can confirm that.
  20. Great to hear of that! Big ! Who were getting most of the helmets, the guys who ride their bikes to work? Most of the people riding without helmets that I have seen have been the black people who commute on the bikes.
  21. Try select a easy gear to spin more at a higher cadence. Sitting will use less energy and your HR will remain a bit lower. Standing uses more energy and your HR will increase a bit. Standing has more power but at the expensive of energy used. You will get tired from standing up all the climbs. The best is to mix the two. Sit for a bit and then stand for a bit. Then sit again. You will use slightly different muscle so then your muscles can rest a bit. When you stand change to a heavier gear. When you sit again try keep that momentum and gear instead of changing.
