  1. That was a great race! Really enjoyed it. Loved the dirt sections! It was quite tough though. I got into a break just after the dirt section which stayed away for quite a distance. Got dropped in a cross wind and then found a new group at top of SBR who I rode with until the end.
  2. I don't think the price has anything to do with it. If you have the money and want to spend it on a bike then that is your choice. Are people who shop at Woolworths instead of Checkers also tjops just because they can spend more money for the same thing?
  3. I agree! We have enough against us as cyclists to start with. We don't need more division. Division just creates natural rivalry. If some want to race and measure their performance then why shouldn't they be allowed to? I bet there are some of the "true mtb'ers" who measure everything and who have never owned a road bike.
  4. It is good training. When you get to the point where you normally stand then pick about 50m or so further on and stand at that point. Gradually increase the point where you stand so eventually you will sit the whole way. But doing the climbs will make you stronger bit by bit.
  5. Along a road? Seriously, in water like a pool or dam might be a good idea!
  6. The Lantern Rouge is also quite a fight Slowbee.
  7. Glad you got the petrol to go there! Gates open at 07.00 so you can ride anytime after that. Plan for a good few hours.
  8. As far as I understood it Frosty was perhaps doing a trial run of substitutions concurrently this year. But this year it will still be no subs rules.
  9. Ok, then for me for the concurrent scorecard it is HORNER out and EVANS in. Personally I think in future it should remain that you pick your team at the start and then that is it for the duration of the competition. If there are freak accidents etc then that is bad luck. Every rider has the same risk to be involved in some or other freak incident.
  10. Not far. 57km. You will easily manage!
  11. I am glad Evans got the win but Thor really rode well! This is the most exciting first week of the Tour I have seen for years! Looking forward to the real mountains!
  12. Texas is not the whole wide world!
  13. This has been running for the last few years and is quite fun. Frosty, did you get my PM?
  14. And this is a "group ride" because?????? Maybe you all being scammed into thinking that this is a scamming site?
  15. The Movistar bikes are great! I got some nice close ups of them at Paris-Roubaix this year.
  16. Sounds good. But you need to do races which are 94.7 seeding races. Sounds good. Maybe we can do some weekend rides together.
  17. Hi Andre, To achieve your 94.7 goal I would suggest that you get racing. To get that time you will need to start with a higher bunch. As for riding I am sure we could make a plan. I am in the Bryanston/Fourways area. What sort of distance are you riding at the moment?
  18. HR can be very scientific if used correctly. But most people just buy a HRM and then try train with it. To be effective you got to get the right values and that means going for a blood lactate test. Then zones are calculated according to the results. Then HR training is effective. But without the test the margin of error is too great and you could actually be training in the wrong zone.
  19. Maybe because 26 is indeed better?
  20. And this is in "Group Rides" because????????
  21. Road or MTB? If road a set of Eastons will be a very good option. If no budget then a pair of Lightweight wheels.
  22. Well said Dirt-rider!
  23. Nice video. Thanks for sharing!
  24. Rubbish! I got my S-Works Tarmac SL3 for roughly half the price of a Trek Madone and much cheaper than many other mid-level frames. Local prices on Spez are actual not bad at all!
  25. Awesome! I was thinking about this the other day! Looking forward to this again.
