  1. I use the enduro BB setup from Rushsports. I have had one bearing fail out of 7 (my bike and the wifes bike in 2 years) so far. And by fail I mean water got into the bearing, and it was kaput! Not that these bearings keep out water completely - this one was just horrible for some reason. The enduro bearings IMO keep out crap a lot better than the origional Shimano setup! If you order from Rushsport it is R165 plus R60 delivery. Order before 12 and you get it the next day.
  2. Well that just proofs it: 29ers FLY over big rocks! Swoooooooooooosh!
  3. When I took the inside door panel off, there was a plastic film underneath it to protect the electronics against water and dust. On that film it says that once you remove it, you have to replace it. Now you have to remove it to see what is going on behind it. THE DEALER SURE AS HELL DID NOT REMOVE THIS. It was just easier to type out a quote of R3700! And also about the brake thing: It is just insane that this seems to be the new trend to want to replace disks and pads during every serrvice. I asked them why do they want to replace the pads and disks? They look fine to me. The answer was: They won't last till the next service. So what? That means there is still at least 15000km worth of "brakes" to be used...It has been 15000km later and the pads and disks can still go another 5000km before I need to replace them.
  4. During my last service I asked the the dealership to have a look at the electric window on my car. It goes up, but then as soon as it gets there, it goes down again about halfway. Got the car back with a R3700 quote to fix the window. Thought: "No way.I will have a look see for myself first." Fixed it this morning in 30min by adjusting two screws! For sure I will take this further with the dealer but they will not see me again and neither will I buy anything from this manufacturer! Idiots!
  5. Presies!!!
  6. Iesh, funny thing this gumtree bike was posted yesterday and from CPT...That would have been just way to weird!!!

  9. Oh c'mon! Ignorance is bliss hey? You can walk in with your Santa Cruz and you might get away with it, but if Gatiep in his plakkies walks in with NO IDEA what he is selling...If I was a shop owner, I would know how much a bike is worth. I would make hima stupid offer and if he wants to sell it at that price I will chase him out of my shop for damn sure - or better phone the cops tocomepick him up.
  10. Singletrack is overrated. The end.
  11. Good question though - Why not a 29er DH bike?
  12. Don't think I posted her here yet.
  13. But it says it's a full suspension...
  14. Can't remember what you call this, but maybe tokenfreak is actually f0kken trick!
  15. I crashed off that bridge the other day - went over a bit fast. Maybe this is old news but a leopard was caught there in the beginning of the year. I usually just make this part of my ride and not my whole ride - but it is fun riding there.
  16. Untill you plug it in...
  17. My 2c: Formula for maxHR is 220 - age. Sy mine should be 220 - 34 = 186bpm. But mine is more like 170-175bpm. Now, a lot of people think that the higher you maxHR is, the better athlete you are. So guys will brag about their maxHR - the higher the better. I see it this way: It is like a car's engine. High revs, small engine. Low revs, big engine. Some engines run better at high revs, some don't. The important thing is to keep it in the powerband and to keep it out of the redzone. What I mean is that some guys can keep there HR in the max area longer without getting sick/puking a lung, than others. The fitter you get, the quiker your HR will come down. Please take note that fitness goes hand in hand with rest. Getting your HR down is also something you can train, believe it or not. But that is enough yada yada.
  18. I would have sued the rider's a$$ for driving over my dog and not swerving/bunny hopping to avoid my dog...
  19. Federer does not have a coach. Nadal does. Both are great tennis players... I guess if you can trust yourself to train hard and rest harder, eat right(ish), and go and train when you have to, you don't really need a coach. I have never had a coach or even a training partner. But that is just me. For me a coach will be just another expense. I might add that if you are a complete noob to cycling, a coach might be a good thing to get you started. But if you are pushing past 30, you don't need a coach - just go and read all you need on the internet - try it all and keep what works for you.
  20. Ek sweer as hy poep is sy wind uit!
  21. No...That was me and Julius...He got up and finished. I did not.
  22. I crashed out last week during a race...I wanted to quit... I got over myself after my wife won her race. Have you ever wanted to quit cycling or even have done so. And why? And how do you get back on the horse...
  23. The Boschkop road is nice - 45km from my house to the T junction just after the train bridge and back! In fact I did it this afternoon in 1:18.
  24. Oh I love this part - I TOLD YOU SO! It's like being back in pre-school...
