  1. At current market value I’ll take one kidney and your youth
  2. This isn’t a bike thing - it’s called inflation and its spiraling unsustainably. Down here at the butt end of Africa it stings a little more despite the almighty ront Bikes might be disproportionate but it’s everywhere and everything Meat has gone up 20 percent since December, we all know fuel ain’t free and even surfboards have skyrocketed in line with bicycles. How anyone can buy a car or a first home these days bewilders me And yet my LBS can’t unpack high end ebikes fast enough. I think we will all be participating in events in a few years where riding the latest bike will feel indecent because then people will know you went to Bishops (fill in appropriate trust fund type school) ti bikes are the future - rigid with v brakes and single speed bring on the revolution
  3. Pretty sure Wout was thinking ride hard to the line Tadej because even I couldn’t outsprint Mvdp on that finish I love how MVDP said Pog was the best guy out there and admitted to the elastic almost snapping …. imagine having such high standards that coming 4th in your first attempt leaves you angry - Wouldn’t want to line up against Tadej next time out, he’s going to want redemption and vengeance
  4. I had this bike, really nice bike - here’s what CBR in durbanville did much to my delight
  5. leather tape, it fitted fine but its getting a bit manky after 18 months of fatboy sweat - I need more but not easy to get
  6. I have restored a few choppers and to get the bikes right I sucked it up and paid for the right ones That said, you definitely can get 20" here for kids bikes, not sure about the front one though
  7. On the right bike they look great - I have a lot of bling going on so black calms it all down a bit ordered tan walls, plaid shirt, beard and gravel bike on the same day 18 months ago Beard still hasn't sprouted and the tanwalls are in transit to Cape Town
  8. the bar tape is Brooks and its ruined me for life - everything else is rubbish now, even the really good stuff. I was using the Cambium C17 - apparently the wrong size for me but my bum would disagree. The fabric rubs through my boardshorts and bibs. I'd like a leather one but I want a used one. A hard no on the tanwalls for me 🤣
  9. A Rook saddle - love my Brooks cambium but it wears out my shorts and bibs Was hoping it would be more brown like on their website less this colour - anyway I’ll test it - way cheaper than bib replacement
  10. Hallo Coffee - great coffee, never go on the weekend as all you'll hear is ebike battery talk
  11. The mist clearing over Wilderness on my way for coffee at the top of the hill
  12. the 11/40 with a 42 might make the hills tough - I'm soft, I like my granny gears so it's easy for me to advise you to get a 42 when I have a 50 bail out gear at the back 😜
  13. wow this is a bit K@k - no one can take off and re install tomorrow - I understand bike shops get busy - it's for this reason I buy my smalls from my LBS and support them when the prices are close enough - they would at least lend me the tool and let me do it in the back must be a kind GP hubber who can help
  14. go old school and pick up the phone - call them 😁
  15. For my attempt at winning the Argus I used a 42 chainring and I used the 10 plenty - gear range was not why I was dropped on flats generally I ride using a 38 with the 10/50 as touring with the 42 made life tougher than it needed to be on a particular tour I am currently using the 42 and feel this ration actually works best for me so unless I'm touring I'll stick with this - I do use the 50 occasionally but it's not exactly flat around here As for Garbaruk lead times - shimano stuff seems to take longer but this company's service is top notch in my experience - 30 days isn't that long in the current climate - plus its bling bling If you don't think you'll use the 50, go for a 44 up front and impress your mates
  16. Fix your top end like this garbaruk cassette, not sure what your deraileur can handle but they do 10/46 and 10/50 11 speed - with the extra range you can now run a 42 or bigger if you’re strong they aren’t cheap but last long
  17. Not just you, me and thousands of motorists too I must have special plugs because they outlast my tyres
  18. Turns out I’ve had a virus, no not that one, for 3 months As soon as I push myself I get instant fatigue - anyway took two weeks off after the argus and today is the best I’ve felt in my bike this year
  19. a lot of amazing deals out there - tour operators are pretty hungry for business after a shocking couple of years Croatia springs to mind - stay on a boat where you are fed and ride to the next port daily carrying nothing
  20. if you are having fun now, imagine how much fun you'll have making me one for cash money!
  21. 12 500km same cassette same chainring - all still excellent - 2nd chain but neither it nor the first one even fits in the park tool chain checker thingy I reckon I’ll hit 20 000 with one more chain
  22. And now I know why Benky asked me a while back what I was doing with my curve GRX fork Your bike is a work of art
  23. I have never ridden this and thought “wish I had 2 x”
