  1. So all the taller guys never rode bikes a few years back when 29ers didn't exist?? 29er would be better suited, but I don't think your comment is constructive to the OP at all.
  2. Personally I like the " 'n stuff"
  3. And FREE !!!!!!
  4. I was thinking of Thaba first, but I know a few less technical minded riders get put off when they hear Thaba. I prefer Thaba myself & there are plenty play areas...
  5. I think a skills course will never be a bad idea- even 'competent' riders can always learn more... But I'm more a fan of riding with guys better than me and learning as you ride on a more on going basis. And therefore I'd be keen to organize a 'technical' riding day at Rietvlei this December- maybe the 21st. I'm by no means a pro and don't profess to be, but I can handle the odd technical bit here & there...and would be glad to help out for a couple of hours. Is anyone keen?

    Cricket......

Didn't see it, but if its a run out it doesn't matter if it was a no ball... Still legally out
  7. Silence - Hmmmmnnn
  8. First ever tv broadcast in RSA & they were still better than the ANN7 (Or whatever it's called) news presenters...
  9. Buy quality - pay once ( excluding the mandatory upgrades you'll start making 1 month after your first bike purchase- as you will love MTB) This whole thing sounds dodgy & to be blunt- at under R3000 you are wasting money. Rather get a basic Schwinn from Westdene cycles for R4000-R5000 and if you don't like it after 1 month- sell said bike here for R1000 less (roughly the same loss as the Raleigh should you not get into the sport)
  10. I'm glad the security guards chased & caught the %^$&
  11. You definitely can- you will need to do the 'cycle skills & club level' course. It's over two days and you learn quite a bit.
  12. Why don't you get a carbon rigid fork? The bike will be much lighter & it'll maybe even make people not notice the Giant sticker to much
  13. Rietvlei in JHB souf Northcliff cycles in -wait for it.......Northcliff
  14. & bb clearance perhaps?
  15. You spoke of answer 1 already- your 'guy' should have asked the 'salesperson' what tall & heavy guys rode pre 29ers... That salesperson is a chop!!!! I'm on 26ers (@1.78M), but have always recommended 29ers for the bigger guys...

    MTB girls

Geez - Why don't girls like that ride at our bike parks? I'd become a frequent visitor
  18. Damn that was close
  19. Heavy night last night
  20. Take your helmet if you want to test a bike. They all have flat pedals so normal shoes will be ok.
  21. Yes - Huuuugggee thanks to the spruit faeries for the effort, time and money that went into this crossing. The Rustenburg cross was a major accident waiting to happen. Just as a side note - When crossing on your own late in the evening - keep an eye out as last week there were 2 very interested locals sitting by the trail (looking rather dodgy). You do turn a blind corner and it'd be easy for a incident to occur as it is well hidden from the general public view.
  22. Best bet in your area is Rietvlei. Speak to Graham - He's normally pretty good.
