  1. My better half and I have tickets and accommodation already booked for June this year for the Pyrenees. That's not going to happen so I guess it's next year.
  2. Best place on planet earth.
  3. Backyard bike check 2 of 3. Behold my 2015 Giant TCR Advanced. It's pretty much a standard build apart from the 80mm stem, Mavic wheels and Selle San Marco saddle which is by far the best bike upgrade I have ever purchased. Oh and the black bar tape. Guys if you aren't a pro. Black bar tape. There's nothing worse than siff used to be white bar tape on a bike. I originally bought a Merida 903 as a commuter bike to get to the office and back. I then quickly got upgradeitis and bought this bike from IRide Africa. It was one of their rental units. I donated the Merida to the Hout Bay Cycling Club and I still see it from time to time carrying a youngster up Chappies. This TCR has been an amazing bike. It's taken me to France where we did a few Alpine Cols together and to Italy up Monte Grappa which is truly a BEAST of a climb. It also took me to a rather scorching Sub 8 argus this year. Tortima Italy 2017 Monte Grappa Italy 2017 Avoriaz 2016. Note the MTB lid and the 3/4 shorts. No bibs at this stage. Col de la Joux Vuerte 2016
  4. I don't really have a Backyard so my balcony will have to do. My 2011 Intense M9 FRO. One of only 4 brought into SA and one of only 2 blue ones brought into SA. The fork is an Ex Andrew Neethling fork from when he was on Trek. It saw duty at Sea Otter and then made it's way on to a IH Sunday and then on to this lady. I bought the bike from a mate for 12k. I had a set of deemax banging about so I sold the wheels for 2k. So I paid 10k. I have a set of CK hubs and 650b rims waiting to be built up. She can take 650b in the long setting Morzine July 2019 Chatel July 2019
  5. Still lapping everyone on the couch (me)
  6. Are we allowed to post 26ers? My prettiest bike is a 26er.
  7. I don't think anyone would do that. They'd get so siff from the sweat that they'd be totally unusable in about 10 minutes.
  8. I spoke to my avatar and he's offended by your incredibly rude comment.
  9. Up a fake Alp. Slowly.
  10. I could well be wrong here but.... As far as I know erg mode is for workouts only. You match the power required and the trainer takes care of the rest. If you are doing a ride/route/race then you don't do erg mode cos you are fake riding an actual route with gradient changes. You aren't trying to match your power to the requirements of the workout. Does this make sense?
  11. So..... Strava has made virtual rides count towards their April Challenge. And one of the challenges is to ride more than 100km in a single activity. And as luck would have it there's a Rouvy route called Cape Town Cycle Tour 2018Just putting it out there.
  12. I tried a bit of this weight doping last night on my ride where I went nowhere and sweated a lot. It still sucked. I still sweated buckets. I still kukked off and at the end of it all I was still in my lounge. And if I was able to go ride outside I'd still be the fat unfit slob that I am so I'm not sure why people bother TBH.
  13. I know a short one. It's in France. Only 14km........
  14. Yup. But I went into the activity and synched again. Not really a surprise. I've never seen so many little broken hip dudes on the same route as me before.
  15. Saturday Morning. All the kit. Still sh#t.
  16. A bit of self isolation this morning. Pity no one got the memo that I wanted the trails to myself.
  17. Haha. Imagine a Buddha in Undies and HR monitor sweating on a turbo. What a sight!
  18. The release says if you can't make the December dates your entry rolls over to 2021. It also says rainy season is Sept/Oct. As strange as this sounds I'm going to continue with my training program and see where it takes me.
  19. Yes. White tops with chaingang written on them.
  20. Bumped into a few Epic boys at Tokai on Saturday and yesterday at Bootleggers in Camps. They all seemed in fairly good spirits all thing's considered. I'm supposed to be doing Sani in May and a France trip in June. Pretty sure both won't be happening.
  21. So nice. Tokai in general is top drawer right now. You can get close to 30km and 1000m of climbing there without repeating trails now.
