  1. To the reserve. I'm not one to punt something just because I've done it but guys. IF YOU ARE IN THE VICINITY OF CAPE TOWN GO RIDE IN THE RESERVE!!!!! Never in our lifetimes will we have it like this again. No tour buses and no tourists. The only people in there are the surfers and the other cyclists. We got overtaken by 2 cars the entire time we were in there. It's AMAZING right now. The roadworks are complete and your chances of spotting a bokkie are MUCH higher. It's R92 but remember to take ID cos the R92 is for SA citizens. If you roll from Fishhoek your out and back will be about 60km. Keep an eye out for whales.
  2. So yesterday I got struck down with a violent case of the sharts so no test ride. Anyways. Just did a little burn now. I'm not so sure what the fuss is all about hey. They are much stiffer than my old wheels. The freehub sounds like a machine gun and they are 800 grams lighter than my old wheels. The carbon rolling makes a very distinctive sound and the 25mm tires run wider than they did on the stock Giant wheels. They also seem to pick up speed MUCH faster than the stock wheels. They also make my bike look SICK! Meh.
  3. Exactly. I was surfing there when I was a teenager. Which was a long long long long time ago. Tony might have scored the trifecta this week. I can't confirm or deny for fear of reprisals from deep south Soul Surfers. Who drive SUV's and wives shop at Woolies. But us townies mustn't point it out.
  4. Win 10. laptop with ANT. BT worked fine (apart from my HR monitor) until a windows update broke it. Same story with both of my laptops. I tried to roll back the update and install different BT drivers but still no dice. I've read a few forums that spoke about some bluetooth speakers conking out after a windows update so I have to assume my issue is related. Anyway. Bought an ANT goodie and I've had zero issues since.
  5. I don't get the localism thing either. Sure on the North Shore or J Bay where if you don't know your stuff it can be very dangerous and potentially fatal. Anyways. My other half looooves Elands. We've been up there 3 times together and I've scored every time. My ex wife was not that keen on the beach towards the end of our time together. But to be fair she did spend many an afternoon sitting in a car at Witsands with only the baboons for company. Poor girl.
  6. When she gets a 2nd cellphone "for emergencies" you need to get a lawyer.
  7. Rant mode enabled Tony and I surfed in the reserve on the weekend. Tony being tony immediately puts his drone in the air. Some plonker comes over and gets all antsy about it. (useless surfer bum accent) Aye bruu. we like to keep this spot on the down low please keep your footage off social media. HELLLOOOOOO!!! IT'S 2020. Ever heard of google earth? And..... Erm..... Blackrocks is not a secret spot. I've surfed in Indo and I've done MANY trips to j-bay (my folks retired there) and kzn and I get subjected to localism in my home fkin town.
  8. I've seen a lot of those high end Nike's floating around the woolies in my area. Buying Pre made meals for junior is hard work and you need the shoes to match.
  9. Hahaha. My ex used to tell me I need to go for a surf.
  10. The ones that just zip off? I've got a pair of the ION ones and I'll never be able to wear normal kneepads again. The zip does dig in to my fat ass calves a bit but they are amazing.
  11. If it doesn't all go belly up you'll see. At the end of the year Ineos will have won all 3 grand tours. Bernal TDF Thomas Giro Froome Vuelta.
  12. Hectic. I can't run in the dark without lights. I was zip tying my bike light to a hydration pack but now I run with a gopro chesty and the light on that. It works a treat. But you can get a cheapie headlamp for next to nothing.
  13. The limiting factor has always been the traction of the tire. Putting hydraulic disks on a bike isn't suddenly going to give more traction. Especially in the wet. Unfortunately it seems that the days of the rim brake bike have gone. I get that things move on. But are disks going to make me a faster rider? I doubt it.
  14. I will. I'm frothing to get on the road and see what's what. The stock wheels weigh more than my car and the mavic something or others I had on were basically the same as the stock wheels with a bit of yellow. They are Prime. CRC's inhouse brand. A mate of mine was selling his TCR (Not the one pictured) and it came with the wheels. My BIL was looking for a road bike so we did a bit of a 3 way deal. No France trip this year so it's wheel upgrade time. I know that's quite probably the most common TCR colorway of all time but to me somehow mine looks a little bit better than the others. It could be that all of the others are still running that siff white bartape.
  15. Got me some Carbon Wheels for the roadie eventually.
  16. I'm frothing to get back to the gym. I love my tuesday and thursday morning spinning classes. I find it "easier" to go deep in a class than on my IDT
  17. January 19th is the date when most new years resolutions grind to a halt.
  18. My local Gym (not virgin) that I go to is looking to open in 6 weeks time. I wonder if they think it's going to drop to L1 in 6 weeks? They've taken the opportunity to remodel during this time.
  19. Hahaha. So I have bad news for that oke. That "secret spot" is listed on windguru and wavescape. And the road sign pointing to it might be a clue. But we try keep it on the Downlow aye.
  20. ALLLLLLLWAYS!!!! I took my Township Shepard for training and the first thing the trainer said was "If your dog leaves your property it's on a lead" No ifs or maybe's. No matter how well trained a dog is you never know how it's going to react to another dog or some other stimulus. So when I see a dog off lead I know there's a 90% chance that dog hasn't actually been trained. All those smells and sounds and sights when you take a dog out is a massive sensory overload for them. Oh and sitting for a piece of biltong does not mean a dog is trained.
  21. It is a lovely bike no doubt. If I was about to retire my "old" TCR I don't think I'd bother looking at anything else. The 105 on mine and my fiance's bikes have been completely flawless from day 1 so no issues there.
  22. You think so? Giant certainly has the cache but those Giant wheels weigh more than my house.
  23. Is THAT why all the lighties can't decide if they are boys or girls?
  24. I'm not a real surfer.
