  1. I've been cheating on you Tony.
  2. Amazing to read what you are experiencing. Please keep updating.
  3. So I ended my first mini fast yesterday. I fasted for 48 hours. Black coffee and water only. I know this is hardly earth shattering but a few little things became apparent. Once you go beyond 16 hours without food it becomes easy. Infact I felt incredibly sharp and energized. I had been food free for 24 hours when I ran my 2nd best ever 5km (It would have been my best if we didn't stop and walk around a huge puddle of decidedly 2nd hand smelling water). I then did 40km on the IDT afterwards. Yesterday I felt amazing all day and was at 8pm actually hesitant to break my fast. Today I'm back on the 16:8 program so let's see.
  4. You are a beast dude
  5. Why is it impossible for these companies to produce a proper flats riding shoe with a boa closure shoe? Do I HAVE to look like a kid who's lost his skateboard?
  6. Super impressive. Well done
  7. 100% But there does seem to be some evolutionary logic involved. Our cavemen ancestors after 2 days of not eating would then need an energy boost to make sure they obtained a meal. So all the senses go on high alert and energy levels rise in a "bet" that they will obtain food within the next little while. So in a way we are designed to have the odd fast. I've never even considered a fast until recently. Right now I'm 36 hours in since my last meal. Last night I'd not eaten for 24 hours and I ran my 2nd best 5k. It would have been my fastest if we didn't have a little detour coz my better half didn't want her shoes getting wet. After that I did 40km on my IDT. I felt super strong but I kept it in zone 2. Right now I feel almost euphoric. I'm not buying into anything. I'm just running a little experiment on myself and I've got some good stuff lined up for dinner tonight. This might all be broscience.
  8. Just a few questions please. According to the tiny bit of reading I've done autophagy is supposed to set in after 24 hours. Why then go 21 days? Did your injury get better? Did you drink coffee/tea or was it a pure water fast? I'm super intrigued and quite impressed by your ability to maintain a fast for 21 days.
  9. Erm. YES. Big time. For many years the only reason I ever saw a doctor was for ear infections.
  10. 30895 gets you a 2019 Giant Defy and 31870 gets you a Giant TCR Advanced Disc. Those are RRP. If you talk sweetly to the shop you should get to 30k easily. *Edit. Those are 2019 models.
  11. Hahaha. That's super funny. Years ago. Same spot, Same conditions, same type of incident. My board split my cheek. The scar is still there. I could blow air through the hole. I had a lumo wetsuit and the blood was quite impressive. When I came out the water I asked a lightie on the beach if I was bleeding. The look on his face told the story. Hahaha. Couple of stitches at the hospital in Fishhoek and I was ready to roll again.
  12. Good luck getting out there without a ski at that size. I surfed Ulu's at high tide and paddling out of the mouth of that cave is one of those seminal moments as a surfer. Forget the fact that it stinks of piss and the locals are harrasing your bird for massage, braid your hair, hashish, cocacola, caps, watches, pay for parking etc etc etc etc. Like jumping off the point at Supers for the first time. Except supers is about 4000% cleaner. Another Seminal moment is hanging your bike on the Chavannes lift in Les Gets and seeing the trail below you and spotting Mont Blanc through the trees.
  13. Did you do the 16:8 story?
  14. That's a good song.
  15. Amazing well done!!!!!
  16. A motor doesn't seize when it gets revved. It seizes when it's covered in a cloth and stored in a garage doing nothing. Maybe you can get on a trainer in the meantime?
  17. Pottz or Dane? My one board had a pink lightning flash design based on a T&C that I saw Matt Archbold riding in a movie called Amazing Surf Stories
  18. I'm hardly an expert at this. I run flats on my MTB's and obviously I clip on my roadie. I clipped for years. DH racing included. When I started doing France trips I'd switch to flats about a month before coz over there pedaling efficiency is literally the last thing you need to be thinking about. Coming back I'd switch back to clips. The one year I took too long to switch back and that was it. I can ride with clips but I'm a bit "pointy" in the tech stuff. I did run clips during "training" for Sani but that all went tits up.
  19. Does anyone know of a brand that does a pair of grippy riding shoes for flats that don't make me look like I'm trying to be a skaterboy? Something with a boa dial.
  20. Oooh! Who? Lots of saffers training moto in the US Aldon Tyla Rattray Gareth Swanepoel Caleb Tennant is training the Deegan lighties
  21. @TBoss my 2c I've tried (unsuccessfully) to get a riding tour company off the ground. We ended up doing 2 trips to France and the trips basically very partially subsidized mine and my partners trips. I truly believe that your type of business has a bright future as mountain bikers in SA begin to realize that multi day stage races are actually a very bad value offering and start seeking our more lifestyle/adventure/experience offerings.
  22. My comment is not aimed at you in any way shape or form. I saw 3 guys going hard. No malice. Just hard racing. Gladiators sometimes bleed.
  23. Thanks. Ja I just assumed it wasn't available. I'm not doing any "training" at the moment so I'm just doing good ol rides with youtubes on a second screen for distraction. Doing pancake flat stuff. The Ironman rides are nice for that type of thing. Trying to keep my watts below 2 watts per kg just ticking along.
  24. Mmm. Indeed. Thanks for the insight. I'm only looking at this from a personal perspective. I should try to remove that when having this type of discussion. You're right tho. Current me would never consider buying an X3 so I'm already entering the argument with a no and then probably shaping my point around that.
  25. Don't even get me started on those things. Yes sir. Your claim has been accepted. But for moving parts the claim is limited to 50% of the price of the repair. Oh and we don't cover any electrical, audio or aircons. So basically your warranty is for the plastics and the upholstery. WHAT PART OF A CAR THAT BREAKS IS NOT A MOVING PART???
