    I did not have a good experience with Conti Protections but lots of people love them. My Conti's didn't last a single ride but maybe it was jus bad luck. There have also been many reports of the Conti sidewalls "leaking" and needing sealant to become properly airtight. My recomm, if you don't want punctures, is buy the Specialized GRID tyres - heavy but indestructible.

    Fairly close to the perfect all-in-1 watch...would love to see what the heck they come up with to improve it further. These rapid improvements must be due to the threat from the iWatch, especially as a 24/7 watch/monitor?

    Get her (and yourself) to fill in the Vitality Age Test online and go for the health checks at Clicks / Dischem first, as they activate the biggest cashbacks (@ WoolWorths, PnP, Clicks etc). In my view, those savings/cashbacks on groceries and pharmacy products can be much more than a few flights...unless you fly every week, that is.

    Dunno why that is - quickest way to get those smoking points is to go into clicks/dischem and do an assessment - the points reflect in realtime usually (they did with my wife's assessment done last week).

    RECM didn't "fold" - the long-term sponsorship of the team was summarily ended. That leads to a few legitimate questions about the health of SA's mtb sponsorships, along with pros riding without a sponsor, nedbank withdrawing from S2c etc. When you throw in rumours of a divorce between 2 top team pros into the mix, there are more - legitimate - questions about what's really going on... None of the above is in any way a " **** way of looking at life", as you succinctly put it.

    My experience of Conti Protection tyres was not great. Race King at the rear didn't even last a single ride before slicing open the sidewall, something I haven't managed to EVER do with any of my spez or wtb tyres. After having to throw away a tyre after 20mins, I won't be hurrying back to Conti.

    The spez ground control ® and spez purgatory (F) on the new Roval 29 29mm internal width rims are absolutely BRILLIANT.

    After putting myself out of action for weeks - and gaining a few stitches - by overcooking/underskilling a berm at Heia, I am seriously looking at buying something like this. A tiny but sharp stone sliced open my knee during a relatively innocuous fall, which would've been prevented by any type of knee protection. To put the price in perspective, the kneepads are cheaper than a single visit to your local ER (and that's excluding antibiotics; tetanus and/or pain meds).

    The USD price of my spez camber has NOT CHANGED since 2014, only the ZAR by 30%-odd... If SA gets another ratings downgrade, the ZAR will drop like a stone.

    Sorry, I was doing mental calcs for my FEb-2014 bike to 2016 replacement, which has gone from 40k-odd to 55k-odd. ZAR has gone from 10.47 to 14.44 from begin 2014 to now (38% depreciation). The point is that the ZAr has gone into freefall, which impacts ALL bike prices sooner or later

    ALL 2016 bikes are that much more than 2015 models. Say thanks to the esteemed custodians of our economy and the Chinese slowdown. However, if SA gets downgraded to sub-investment grade (AKA "junk"), ALL BETS ARE OFF (as they say in the movies) and the ZAR may go into freefall.
