  1. I have been riding a Giant trance 5 inch Dual susser for the last 4 years and am now looking to go 29er. I want a decent spec 29er preferbly carbon as i dont wnat a heavy ox of a bike and the bikes i like are very expensive. I see the hardtails are much more reasonable like R10k cheaper in most cases. So i have been thinking should i perhaps i should try a hardtail. As i could get a decent hardtail for approx R20k v a rubbish Ds 29er I am pretty good on downhills and technical stuff and my weakness is climbing and long flat stages. I do a lot of 60km races and the odd w2w and sani so at my 41 years of age i like a comfy bike and the trance has been magic. I also ride a lot of technical stuff like jonkershoek, tokai etc But its time i upped my game somewhat. The Plan would be to keep the trance for the fun stuff and use the 29er on the longer rides that require climbing, speed etc. The question is will my butt and back hate me for it are the 29ers pretty forgiving to ride in hardtail format?
  2. The Rc for R26k at Cajees are you sure??? Which Cajees ??
  3. Did the race this weekend, apart from the balls up at the start when basically the entire filed took a wrong turn off due to the moron waving as past the actual route, it was a awesome ride in the oak valley. Lots of ST and awesome scenery. Any huibbers know if there is a website to view result/pics etc ????
  4. ok Cool thanks for that i am considering getting a carbon camber comp 2012 or an alloy epic 2013 price is similair. Hmm maybe have to go for the camber as i do lots of hectic trail riding but i need to be able to climb
  5. Cant wait for this ride, best ride of the year. that pipe climb is a bitch bit after that its 8km downhill ST...wwooooooohoooooooo
  6. my hard earned finish is not on the results page yet?
  7. Shiite thats not good. Bike is pron]bably at Neils wheels or the local cash converters.
  8. Whats the costs for the 6 day??
  9. Thats wierd last year a 6 year old;did the 26km and finished there was a massive announcement about the kid, he was incredible.
  10. Small Kids always were always allowed to ride bikes on the promenade. I have taken my kids there for years and never had issues. But adults dont need to ride on the promenade I personally think this is an accident waiting to happen. Just a matter of time before some idiot going 50kmh takes a kid out . One can ride safely on the parrallel black pavement on the other side of the grass if they need to ride bikes. The promenade is mainly for joggers and walkers. I got no issue with skateboarders or rollerbladers but bicycles shouldnt be allowed on the promenade it gets a bit congested at times and there will be an accident
  11. where do u see the 1750m climbing stat?? I have done it twice its closer to 1500m

I can get a good deal on a new one or perhaps get an anthem x for roughly the same price , im aware that the Spez Epic and stumpy are awesome bikes but have no clue on what type of machine the camber is. Any hubbers have one it has a carbon frame and ally triangle??

  15. Just what i thought, i love this idea. (9 days is probably too long for me , workand the family etc But 6 days might just be workable. hmm
  16. Have u got the profile for the 55km??
  17. Still no results? Sa Seeding is pretty slow!!!!!!!!1
  18. Thanks for the advise guys. I cleaned it out last night in the bath, damn it hurt like hell i wish i thought of the biltong trick. I did have e few scotches to numb the pain. I used the staaldruppels afterwards that almost killed me. Then put on bactroban and have covered it wtih breathable bandage/plaster thingie i got from the chemist. Its still bloody painful i plan on doing this routine for 2 more days then letting it dry out a bit. At least the bandage protects the open wound from sticking to my pants.
  19. Shiieeet now im confussed, some oaks say dry others say bandage, guess im off to the chemist, but whatever happens im still going to have a whisky or 5. And i cant even bear the pain with a cloth let alone a scrubbing brush...u kidding right?
  20. Did the whisky thing last night , worked a treat will get the metholade today. tks chaps
  21. Disadvantage of the 29ers is hearing all the kuk the converts have to say. Disadvantages of the 26ers is hearing all the excuses if why they cant or wont get a 29er. I thinl that sums it up. And by the way im a huge fan of 27.5 just waiting for some decent choice.
  22. I came off my bike at quite a speed yesterday and have a huge roasty on my leg and one on my arm. Any advice as the best way to ease the intense pain and whats a good way to heal (ointments etc). I havent put on any bandages on it as i think its better for it to dry out?? Any advice would be welcome
  23. I felt bad about missing the 75km so i did the 45km , it was an awesome ride lots of mud though but fantastic route. Im happy i didnt do the 75km i wouldve suffered the 45km had about 1000m ascent so in the end it was enough,
  24. Just got back from the 45km . It was an awesome ride, probably the best route of the season so far. For the price of a cheese sandwich u really missed out . The race was worth every cent the water points had coke, juice, chocolate, sweets, bananas and oranges. I didnt even need a water bottle. The event was top class.
